Chapter Two: Melting Chocolate
Sesshoumaru pulled into the deserted parking lot of the Western Lands Café and parked in a slot close to the entrance. He could see lights glowing through the shuttered windows of the café. He grabbed the bottle of wine, a last minute impulse, from the passenger seat of his corvette and walked towards the entrance. He raised his fist to knock on the glass door before his common sense caught up with him, and he remembered that this was a public building. Silently chastising himself, Sesshoumaru pushed lightly on the door, walking through as it swung easily inwards. Standing inside the entrance, he scanned the dining room sight of the ninjen woman.
“Rin?” Sesshoumaru walked further across the dining room when she didn’t answer. “Rin?”
His nose picked up the sent of cooking meat, mixed with various spices and herbs. Following the sent, Sesshoumaru found himself pushing through a pair of double doors, his pointed ears quirking at the soft humming coming through the other side.
Sesshoumaru tilted his head quizzically at the sight before him. Standing in front of a large stove oven, her back turned to him and humming a familiar tune, Rin was steadily stirring something in a large steaming pot. Sesshoumaru stared unabashed as her hips swayed in time with her humming. His eyes roamed quietly lower, taking in the little swell of her rear against the fabric of her white dress that reached just above the back of her knees. His eyes fixed on the fabric swirling around her tanned legs as her hips moved.
I am starting to think that this was not such a good idea.
Oh, it looks just fine from my view.
Sesshoumaru uttered a small growl, making the tiny ninjen at the stove jump with a load yelp. She turned quickly, eyes wide with her hands clutched together over her heart. The sudden spike in her heart rate made her blood rush, and Sesshoumaru finally caught smell of her true sent. Sweet and dark and rich.
I always did love chocolate.
Rin cleared her throat, bringing him out of his silent savoring. Her hands, no longer held over her heart, swept down her sides, straitening the invisible wrinkles in her dress.
“Sesshoumaru…I didn’t realize the time…Nice suit.”
“So I’ve been told. It is good to see you Rin. You-Dinner smells amazing. Thank you, for inviting me.”
“Thank you for accepting. Dinner is almost ready. I hope you like Italian.” Sesshoumaru smiled and held up the bottle of Pinot Noir.
“I hope you don’t mind.” Rin laughed as she read the Italian wine label.
“Not at all, that was very thoughtful of you. Accept…I can’t drink any.”
“Why is that?”
“I’m…Um…Why don’t we go into the dining room and wait for dinner?”
Sesshoumaru didn’t stop her when she moved swiftly past him, even though he wanted to, he only followed silently. Her nervousness and refusal to answer his simple question unnerved and irritated him. But for now, he would let her think he’d dismissed it. Soon though, he would find out what she was hiding.

Rin smiled at the stoic demon across from her and took sip from her glass of water and almost laughed when he pointedly drank from his glass of wine. So he wasn’t going to let it slide. She hadn’t really thought he would anyway. He didn’t seem like the type of man to be deflected so easily. Still, she didn’t want to ruin this night with the answer to his question. Picking up her fork, she cut into the tender veal medallion on her plate and took a bite, flicking her tongue out to lick a drop of sauce from her lip. She didn’t notice the slight narrowing of Sesshoumaru’s eyes.
“Miroku told me that you own Taisho Corporations.”
“I do.”
“But Taisho Corps. is located in the city isn’t it?”
“It is, yes. There are a few things being taken care of at the moment that prevent me from returning. Let’s just say that I’m on a…compulsory vacation.”
“I see. Are you at least enjoying your ‘vacation’?”
“It has taken some getting used to, I admit.”
“At least you have your brother to keep you company.” Sesshoumaru nodded.
“Inuyasha can be entertaining at times.”
“So is he your mother’s or your father’s son?” Sesshoumaru’s eyes widened briefly before an amused smile crossed his lips. She’s interesting.
“Father’s. I am impressed. Not many humans can tell a hanyou from a pureblood.” Rin smiled and inclined her head.
“I’m just a little box of surprises.”
“Indeed.”
“And you too. I really do like your suit. It…suits you. Not that you don’t look good in jeans, mind you.”
“Thank you. I think.”
“There is one thing though….If you don’t mind…” Sesshoumaru made no move to stop her, for he was too surprised, as she stood slightly and leaned over the table, reaching out a hand to loosen the knot of his tie, making it come undone completely, and pulling it over his shoulder. She sat back with a triumphant smile on her lips and dangled her prize from her fingertips. “That’s much better.”
“You…Stole my tie.”
Rin nodded. “I did.”
“I like that tie.”
“So do I, but it doesn’t suit you.” Sesshoumaru looked down at his suit and then back at the tie she held.
“It goes with the suit.”
“But not with you.”
“The suit suits me though.” Rin looked intently at the tie.
“The tie makes you look too serious.”
“I am serious.”
“You’re too young to be ‘serious tie’ serious.” Sesshoumaru thought about that and leaned back in his chair.
“How old do you think I am Rin?”
She tilted her head and narrowed her eyes. “Hmm…twenty-five…twenty-six?”
“I am flattered, but try thirty.”
“Thirty…That’s still too young for ‘serious tie’ serious.” Sesshoumaru leaned forward once more and set his gaze intently on hers.
“How old are you Rin?” Rin laughed and waved a hand in front her face.
“Didn’t your mother ever tell you it isn’t polite to ask a lady her age?”
“Never.” She laughed again, but he knew it was forced.
“Well it is, and I think I’ll go get dessert now. Excuse me.”
Rin shot to her feet and rushed towards the kitchen, not knowing that there was an angry demon following right behind her. Sesshoumaru grabbed her arm before she could make it through the swinging doors and spun her gently to face him.
“How old are you Rin?”
“Sesshoumaru, don’t you want dessert? I made a really nice caramel torte.” Sesshoumaru glared at her, his golden eyes narrowing suspiciously.
“Why are you being so obstinate?” Rin stiffened and sent him a glare of her own.
“Why are you making such a big deal about my age?”
“Because you are making a ‘big deal’ out of it by not telling me.”
“Do you have to know everything about me? It’s only our first date after all.” Sesshoumaru let go of her arm and crossed his arms over his chest, looking down at her with stern features.
“That is not the point and you know it. Why won’t you tell me your age?”
“Because you’ll act like every other person who knows. You’ll treat me like every other person who knows.”
Sesshoumaru planted his hands on his hips and growled in frustration. “Rin, tell me.”
“Fine. I’m nineteen. Are you satisfied now? I’m nineteen goddamn years old.” Sesshoumaru’s eyes widened and his mouth fell slightly open, apparently not expecting such a low number.
“You’re…That’s impossible.”
“It’s very possible and it happens to be true.”
“You’re, you’re only a child.” Rin stiffened and gasped indignantly.
“A child? A child?! I am not a child. I’m a grown woman who can take care of herself.”
Sesshoumaru growled and clenched his fists at his sides, his claws digging unmercifully into the flesh of his palms.
“You may have the body of a ‘grown’ woman, but that only makes you dangerous, not grown.” Rin threw her hands up and stomped her foot in frustration.
“I told you you’d act like this. You’re just like everyone else. If she isn’t old enough to get shit-faced drunk, then she isn’t considered an adult, even though she became one when she turned fucking eighteen!”
“I think I should go. This was a mistake. Thank you for dinner, it was excellent. Goodbye Rin.” Rin smirked and sent him an icy glare.
“Right. Don’t forget your tie. I guess it suits you after all.”
Rin turned on her heels and pushed through the double doors, leaving a someone stunned Sesshoumaru staring after her. He stood there for a few seconds, just staring at the closed doors. He should be angry. He should be cursing the day he ever met the infuriating ninjen. But there was something…
This is insane. She’s a child.
She’s over eighteen. She’s not a child, and you know it. You’re just using her age as an excuse.
An excuse for what?
To keep yourself from getting involved with her.
But I shouldn’t get involved with her. I don’t have the time to get involved with her. She’s too young for me anyway.
You’re only thirty.
Yes, and she’s only nineteen.
It’s not that big of an age difference.
It’s a fucking decade and more.
But there’s something about her remember?
I will not yield in this.
…Fine. But at least go in there and apologize.
Apologize? For what?
You hurt her pride. You of all people should know how important one’s pride is.
He would damn himself later, but he knew it was the truth. He had hurt her pride, and he would make amends for that. Sesshoumaru growled under his breath and pushed through the double doors.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hate men. Stupid men. Stupid silver haired men.
Rin speared another bite of her caramel concoction and slipped the fork between her lips. Sitting crossed legged on top of the kitchen counter, bare footed with the caramel torte beside her, Rin was certain that she had never felt so dejected in all her life. A child for God’s sake. He’d actually called her a child. Rin scowled and took another bite of the dessert.
Damnit. And I really liked him too.
He was simply beautiful. That long silver hair and those sexy pointed ears. And those markings that her fingers just begged to touch. And he was smart too. He could match her gibe for gibe and didn’t seem to care that she was somewhat of a smart-ass. Sure, he seemed a bit too serious, but she could tell there was a playful side to him as well. She could see it in his golden eyes when she teased him.
And he wants nothing to do with a child like me.
Rin was about to place another forkful of caramel cake in her mouth when the kitchen doors suddenly swung opened and Sesshoumaru came stalking in. His golden eyes widened as they took in her position on the counter, cross legged and barefoot. Rin looked down and saw that her dress rode up on her thighs some, but otherwise covered everything important. Looking up again, she caught his eyes had lowered to where hers had been and she smirked, bringing the fork to her lips once more.
“I thought you’d be gone by now.”
“I wish to apologize.” Rin shook her head and took another bite of the torte beside her.
“Whatever. I’m used to it. You’re not the first person to think I’m ignorant because of my age.”
Sesshoumaru crossed his arms and tilted his head. “I never said you were ignorant.”
“No, you just think I’m a child.”
“Well-” Rin cut him off, jabbing the air between them with her fork.
“Well nothing. I pay my taxes. I own this café. I am the reason twenty people have jobs. I’m not some stupid little high school twit playing at being an adult. I am an adult, and you would do well to remember that.”
Sesshoumaru stood stock still, staring at the ninjen before him. No woman had ever talked down to him the way she had. And she was eating cake barefoot on top of a counter while she did it. His blood spiked in his veins. There was no way in hell he was going to let her get away with that. No one, especially not some little ninjen, spoke to Sesshoumaru Taisho in such a way. He would make sure that she would remember that. His eyes sparked as he stalked towards her, her eyes widening as he bared his fangs.
“So, you think you’re an adult. A grown woman.” She lifted her chin proudly, her gaze intent on his fangs.
“Yes.” Sesshoumaru growled harshly as he neared closer.
“And you want me to treat you as a grown woman.” Rin’s gaze flickered to his and she swallowed, hard.
“Y-Yes.” Sesshoumaru stood directly in front of her now. He placed his hand on either side of her on the counter top, trapping her between his arms.
“Then so be it.”
Rin didn’t have to think as Sesshoumaru’s lips came crashing down on hers. Harsh and demanding, his mouth completely covered hers. His fangs nipped at her lips and Rin opened her mouth, moaning as his tongue darted inside. Growling inside her mouth, Sesshoumaru tasted every inch of the warm cavern. His tongue slid over the backs of her teeth and along the insides of her cheeks. Finally he sought out her tongue with his and the contact had him grinding his mouth harder against hers. Rin whimpered and wound her arms around his waist, pulling him flush against the counter as she wrapped her legs around him. Sesshoumaru growled deeply and sought her body with his hands. What had once been a punishing kiss was now something more. Something hot and powerful. Something he needed.
His fingers stroked her hips through the soft material of her dress as his mouth devoured hers. Her sent invaded his nose. Like melted chocolate, he licked and sucked at her lips, her tongue.
God, she even tastes like chocolate.
Sesshoumaru broke the kiss as they both gasped for air. His lips attacked her neck as she panted and moaned, sucking greedily at the delicious flesh. His fangs scraped and nipped and his tongue licked at the tantalizing skin. Rin’s sensuous moans only added fuel to his raging fire and he grabbed her ass, pulling her roughly against his growing desire. Rin whimpered and threw her head back at the contact, tightening her legs around him. He found her mouth again as he thrust his hips against her, the friction making his hard on even more prominent.
He groaned when her hips bucked back and she moaned his name. He could smell her arousal, sweet and rich, it clouded his mind. He thrust harder against her. Faster when she cried his name. The friction of their clothes only adding to the sweet torment. He slammed his hips into her as he came hard in his pants, growling her name and filling her mouth with his tongue. His hand came between them and his fingers stroked her through her panties. Already soaking wet, his fingers slid across the material as he rubbed his fingers harder and faster. He could hear her heart hammering inside her chest, she was so close. Just…a little…more…Sesshoumaru swallowed her cry of pleasure, clamping his mouth firmly over hers, as she came against his hand, drenching her already soaked panties.
Rin wrenched her mouth form his, gasping and panting heavily for air. Her head fell back as she tried to catch her breath, shuddering as spikes of pleasure ran through her veins. Lifting her head, she looked at Sesshoumaru. His head was bowed to where she could only see the top of his head, and he was panting just as much as she was. Rin reached out a hand stroked his hair, making his head jerk up. His eyes blazed into hers. They were full of excitement and desire and something else that seared her skin and made her veins set fire. He reached a hand towards her face and caressed her cheek with his fingers.
“My ‘vacation’ has just become a lot more complicated.”
Rin couldn’t tell if he was happy about that or not.
