“Hold on..” Inuyasha paused to sniff the air.

Kasami remained frozen as she tried to understand the situation.  That was Inuyasha..her Inuyasha...the boy she basically raised and here he stood as if he never died.  Fury rushed through her as the large ember ball of fire formed in her right palm.  How could he forget all that she had done for me?  She leaped to the ground as her amber eyes glowed a bright white.

“Kasami?” he asked as he watched her approach as if she didn't mean him harm, “What are you doing here?”

“Inuyasha...  I think she's kinda mad,” the other woman seemed to stammer.

“You idiot!” Kasami easily sent a wave of fire on Inuyasha, but he remained there with surprised eyes.

Then, he shook off her flames and retaliated by getting in her face, “What's your problem!?  How in the hell do you think you stand a chance against me!?  Who the fu-”

“I can still kick your ass like you were a child!” Kasami snapped as she balled up her fists.

“Wait a second,” Inuyasha snatched her right wrist and examined it, “I figured as much.  Here'ya go, Kagome.  Add to the collection.”

Inuyasha easily pricked the shard from her palm and tossed it over to the woman known as Kagome.  When he turned back to Kasami, her eyes were regular and full of tears.  It had been fifty long years since his death and now he acted as if his death meant nothing to her.  Kasami shoved Inuyasha away from her before glaring at the ground, “You stupid..idiot..  Your mother raised you better than this.  If Kikyo hadn't died, I would've killed her myself for what she did to you!”

“I think there's a bit of a misunderstanding going on,” Kagome intervined, she had the same eyes as Kikyo except she was much kinder, “My name is Kagome, i'm Inuyasha's friend.”

Kasami wiped the tears from her eyes as she glanced down at her extended hand.  She glanced away from the human and answered, “I'm Kasami.  I was the woman who helped his mother birth him, raised him, fed him, and watched him die by that woman's hands.”

“Jeez, just rub it in already,” Inuyasha groaned as he went inside a building.

As much as she wanted to go after him, he wasn't a child.  That was when Kagome explained the situation of Inuyasha coming back to life, the shards, Kikyo, and Naraku.  It left Kasami speechless with regret.  She blamed Kikyo for fifty years over Inuyasha's death, but only to find out it was Naraku's doing.  Kasami stood up abruptly and stomped over to where Inuyasha slept.  Kagome tried to stop her, but it was no use.  She loomed over Inuyasha, who heard her walking in and quickly tried to crawl away from her.  Kasami snatched his ankle and pulled him to her strong embrace.  Her head rested on top of his head as he tried to break free from her hold, “Dammit let me go!”

“Inuyasha, you have no idea how much Hell I felt when you were gone.  If you don't want to see me again, I'll understand,” Kasami murmured softly before letting him go with a surprised look on his face.

She turned to Kagome and bowed deeply, “I hope you will honor me and take care of him.  He is reckless and brash, but I hope you are as strong as you look.”

“I can hear you, you know,” Inuyasha angrily growled as he rolled onto his other side away from the two females.

Kagome merely smiled and nodded, “I promise to keep him out of trouble, Kasami.”

Kasami eyed the human female with much skeptism.  She regretted never talking to Kikyo like she did this human, but it was hindsight at this point.  With a deep sigh, Kasami glanced one more time at Inuyasha before walking away.  He would seek her out again like he did as a child, she was sure of it.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

It took her many days and nights before she tracked Sesshomaru down.  She used her gift of mapping out the stars and tracking footsteps, as well as asking passing villages if they had spotted him.  Finally, she found him passing through an ancient burial ground.  She wouldn't know what he was searching for, but she would do her duty as his servant.  When she approached him, Kasami bowed low before coming closer, “Lord Sesshomaru, I bring urget news.  A man named Naraku has been looking for you, i'm afraid this creature is up to no good and may try to bring harm.”

Sesshomaru didn't acknowledge her news as he order Jaken to look into an old coffin.  Kasami, now growing quite irritated, stated again, “I've heard this man has been wreaking havoc-”

“Did I tell you to continue?” Sesshomaru finally interupted her and gave her a cold stare, “You've obeyed the orders I had given you.  That is all you need to worry about.”

Kasami bit her tonuge as much as she wanted to state her opinion.  Inu no Taisho would've allowed her opinion, and Izayoi never angered Kasami, even Inuyasha wouldn't get mad at her if she felt the need to punish bad behavior, but Sesshomaru...she knew he would test her ability to keep her compusre.  So, she did as she was told, but decided it was time to follow him just in case something were to happen to him.  Kasami remained silent as she watched as Jaken found something and brought it to Sesshomaru, “Look, m'lord!  I found it for you!”

Sesshomaru took the crimson gem from Jaken's hands and examined it closely.  Kasami, interested in what he was looking at, took a step forward and tried to glance over at it.  Her master turned slightly as he noticed her prying eyes.  She remained silent as she was determined to know what he was holding in his hand.  Kasami then felt her head being hit roughly, only to turn around to see Jaken glaring at her as he swung the staff back to hit her again, “Don't defile Lord Sesshomaru's finding with your cursed eyes!”

She eagerly snatched the staff away from Jaken to prepare to beat him senseless until she felt the staff taken from her grip as well.  Kasami turned to see Sesshomaru weild the staff before giving it back to Jaken, “Unnecessary violence on your part is out of the description.  This,” he held the crimson gem in his palm, “is a Demon Eye Stone.  You will imbed this stone in the Tetsusaiga when I take it.  First, I have scented my little brother in the air.  Most importantly, I can still smell him on you.”

Her throat tightened as Kasami saw the irritated look in Sesshomaru's gaze.  She could only imagine he was angry to think she would betray her vow and return to Inuyasha as his servant.  Kasami stood her ground with her chin held high, “I raised him after his mother passed, it's only natural-”

Before she knew it, Kasami was on the ground with five distinct scratches from Sesshomaru's poisonous claws.  The poison entered into her blood stream that made it difficult to breathe for a few moments.  Her gaze traveled up to Sesshomaru as he stared down with his icy eyes, “You are under my rule now, and under my control you will refrain yourself from going back to him.  When you decide to get back up, you will lead Inuyasha to me so I can take what is rightfully mine.”

Sesshomaru left Kasami in that burial ground of ancient corpses.  It took her about an hour to finally get on her knees and manage to heal her flesh wounds.  Kasami got back on her feet as she reluctantly obeyed the command.  Her eyes glowed a bright white before she closed them, her skin and being became, slowly, more transluecent until she fully disappeared.  This, in her demon race, was easier and less energy draining during the night hours, but she had lived a great deal of time and learned to save whatever energy she had.  By the time she reappeared not too far from where Inuyasha was located, it was twilight and a full moon was rising.  This gave her more energy and available for more strength.  Kasami concealed her identity by hiding within the exposed moon, no one was able to see her.  She silently traveled closer until she could feel Inuyasha's presence not too far from hers.  When she could visibly see him, Kasami noted that he had three more companions and a cat.  This would be trickier than she realized, then again she didn't want him to follow her easily.

Kasami waited a few moments before going towards him and his sleeping group.  There was no reason to go to him looking pristine and able.  Then again, she was determined not to fool him.  Kasami went as is and stirred the sleeping Inuyasha, knowing her scent must have alarmed him.  He eyed her before saying something, then stood up, “What brings you back here?  Are you in trouble?”

“No,” Kasami answered honestly, “But I have been ordered to bring you to your brother.  I hope this isn't too troubling for you.”

Inuyasha seemed a bit surprised.  He then deepened his glare, “So, you've been following him?”

“By law, I am bound as his servant,” Kasami retrieved that same note Sesshomaru had given her and handed it to Inuyasha to read, “Willing or not, I am bound to serve him until the day I, or he, die.”

Inuyasha tossed the note in the fire, neither gave a reaction to this, then approached her with a hint of concern in his eyes, “Kasami, you're a good fighter, and you've always been honest with me.  Here's a dose of reality, you're able to fight him off with a hand tied behind your back.”

“Inuyasha,” Kasami stated quickly to silence him, “I will not let you get hurt, just come with me.”

Reluctantly, as well, he gave in.  The others were woken, a brief introduction was placed, and Kasami led the way back towards Sesshomaru.  What awaited their fate was not clear to her.  She could hear the whispers behind her back while the humans murmured about her race.  The only two that remained silent were Inuyasha and Kasami.  What was there to be spoken of?  When morning came, Kasami allowed the humans and young fox demon to eat while she sat in the grass to wait.  Inuyasha sat across from her as he kept his gaze on the ground.

Kagome, who was cooking a few fish Sango had caught, looked over at Inuyasha and Kasami.  She was curious to know how far did their friendship go back.  Inuyasha only told her that she was good friends with his mother, but that was it.  She was startled slightly when Sango placed a hand on her shoulder, “Kagome, are you alright?  Did she say something to you?”

“Oh, no, everything is fine.  I'm just wondering what's going to happen when we reach Sesshomaru.  I don't really have a good feeling about this,” Kagome commented as she concentrated back on the fish, “Honestly, I don't think Inuyasha would have agreed to this if she wasn't the person who asked.”

“Nothing ever comes good-natured with a Moon Demon around,” Sango sighed as she prepared more fish to be put near the fire, “I'd get your bow and arrow ready at any moment.”

“Sango, i'm surprised at you,” Kagome quickly murmured, worried that Kasami heard her, then she whispered, “What do you mean?”

“Moon Demons are rare,” Miroku entered into the conversation as he sat next to Sango, “But, from what I was told, it's bad luck for a lifetime to see one.  I figure now we're all going to die when we come across this man, Sesshomaru.”

Kagome felt a wave of fear rush through her, but brushed it off.  To her, Kasami seemed like a good woman with good intentions.  She wouldn't mean them harm, would she?

The next day, Kasami led Inuyasha and the others to where Sesshomaru ordered.  Kasami waited until she, and Inuyasha, knew Sesshomaru was nearby.  She could hear the apprehension from Inuyasha and worry from the others.  As for herself, she just gazed over to him as he approached them.  What happen will happen, but fate can always be changed.

“Sesshomaru...” Inuyasha growled, “Why the hell did you want me to see you?”

“Our father left us each a sword.  I do not want mine, so I shall take yours,” Sesshomaru answered briefly before extended his claws.

“Wait..what?” Inuyasha took a step back, “What are you talking about?  That old bastard wouldn't leave a damn thing for us-”

“Enough of your words,” Sesshomaru interupted Inuyasha's word and quickly appeared right in front of him.

Kasami shielded her eyes from a blinding white light being emitted from Sesshomaru and Inuyasha.  She could hear Inuyasha's scream as he tried to get out of Sesshomaru's arm path.  Taking a few steps toward the sound, she kept her eyes covered as she reached out a hand to grab Inuyasha.  Instinct told her where to go and to get Inuyasha out of the line of danger.  Then, the light faded.  Kasami opened her eyes to see the gigantic skeleton of her former master.  This would have been his true form as a demon.  She, while in his servitude, had never seen that transformation in person, but she was told many horror stories of how he waged war in his demon form.  Kasami glanced this way and that to see where Inuyasha was, but could hear him yelling at his human friend, Kagome, inside his father's skeleton.  She raced into the skeleton's mouth and peered down at the scene.  Inuyasha was secluded away to where he could not grab the sword while Kagome was on a different level.  Sesshomaru, at the very bottom, was trying to grab the Tetsusaiga, but failed.

She glided down on the hard bones on the side, trying not to slip.  When she reached Kagome's level, the human girl tried to stop her.  Kasami saw as Kagome reached out to grab her, but easily veered away from her grasp.  Kagome stared hard at Kasami as the Moon Demon did to her.  She could see the mistrust in Kagome's eyes.  There was no need for it.  Kasami looked back down to see Sesshomaru still trying to pull the sword from the rock.  She easily glided down to the bottom, “My Lord Sesshomaru, you will not be able to take that sword.  Your father destined that sword to Inuyasha and he alone can take it out.”

“You aimlessly speak when no one cares for your words,” Sesshomaru glanced over at her, “It's a wonder why my father kept you around.  If it weren't for your skills, i'm sure you would have been disposed of.”

One memory seeped into her mind that caught her off guard.  It was the memory of when Sesshomaru paid Izayoi a visit a few hears into Inuyasha's childhood.  That memory of how low he looked down on Izayoi and Inuyasha.  Kasami placed a hand on her heart, she dearly cared for her mistress and saw Inuyasha as a son that never grew up.  To have her new master cast them aside back then hurt her, but to say that Inu no Taisho only treasured her skills was another.  Kasami waited until Sesshomaru's back was turned before her hands glowed a bright white.  A bright yellow auro surrounded her as her eyes glowed an even brighter amber.  She walked over to behind Sesshomaru and glided her hand along his arm before holding the hilt of the old sword with him.  Sesshomaru glared at her from the corner of his eye, Kasami knew he was angry with the aide she was giving him.  This aide came at a price.

In a slow pace, Kasami helped Sesshomaru take the sword from the stone.  When Sesshomaru examined the sword, Kasami easily stole it from his grasp and took a few steps back.  Her appearance gradually changed back to it's original form as a bewildered look appeared on Sesshomaru's face.  Jaken waddled over to her and pointed an accusational finger at her, “How could you do that!?  If Lord Sesshomaru could not take it, how could you!?”

“Inu no Taisho did not summon my services for nothing,” Kasami glared over at Sesshomaru, “He summoned me to be an ally, but I chose to be his servant when his initial request was granted.”

Everything, and everyone, remained silent at her rebellion against Sesshomaru.  Kasami then began to fear her action.  Sesshomaru's eyes changed to blood red and the winds began to pick up.  Quickly, she released Inuyasha from his confinement so he could grab Kagome and escape.  Kasami, reluctantly, took Jaken and flung him out just before Sesshomaru's true form emerged.  Feared shocked her, she couldn't move as the large Sesshomaru towered over her.  Inuyasha took Kasami out of the way before Sesshomaru's massive paw descended on that very spot where she once stood.  He grabbed her shoulders and made her look into his eyes, “I know you know a way out of here, take Kagome and that imp out before he kills you three.”

Kasami handed Inuyasha the tetsusaiga and stated, “Don't kill each other, just get away as fast as you can.”

Then, Inuyasha turned towards Sesshomaru as the tetsusaiga transformed to a larger version as the battle began.  Kasami, snatching Kagome's arm and Jaken's staff, summoned a portal to leave the area.  Kagome struggled to free herself, but Kasami tightened her grip on her arm and forced her through portal first, then Jaken, and then herself.  As soon as they were in the original area of the Feudal world, Kasami checked to make sure both Kagome and Jaken were in one piece.  Before she could stand on her two feet, Kasami heard an arrow being pulled back.  She glanced to her side to see Kagome had an arrow ready for Kasami's head.

“Where is Inuyasha?” Kagome asked sharply, “Tell me where he is!”

“He's fighting Sesshomaru, he'll come back here when he's ready,” Kasami answered calmly, then looked towards Jaken, who was preparing to attack as well, “As well as Lord Sesshomaru.”

The two gradually backed away from her as Kasami stood up.  Kagome put away her arrow and bow before dusting off her clothes.  Within minutes, the brothers appeared.  Kasami watched as Kagome rushed over to Inuyasha to check his injuries.  He pulled away from her briskly, causing Kagome to distress slightly.  Kasami turned towards Sesshomaru, and her eyes widened at the sight.  He had lost his arm to Inuyasha.  She walked over to him with a worried expression, though he was hard to deal with she didn't want him actually hurt.  Muttering something about reattaching his arm, Sesshomaru glared down at her before snatching her arm, digging his claws into her skin to force her to look up at him, “You dare make a move as foolish as the one you pulled eariler and expect to crawl back to me?”

She could see his was weakening from the bloodloss.  Kasami did not reveal she felt from the pain he was giving her.  Her expression remained calm, even as he pulled his grasp away from her arm.  She turned slightly to see Inuyasha and his female friend were off to gather the other followers.  Though she was hurt to see Inuyasha leave her with even a goodbye, he would still be safe.  Kasami then turned back to Sesshomaru to see he was already walking away from her.

“Lord Sesshomaru,” Kasami called out after him, to no avail he did not stop, “Lord Sesshomaru!”

“Enough of your betrayls, woman,” Jaken hissed at her, “If Lord Sesshomaru had grabbed the sword from you, he would've killed Inuyasha in one swing.”

“You misunderstand,” Kasami stated, which caused Sesshomaru to stop, “You're wrong about the sword.  The tetsusaiga is only to be wielded by Inuyasha.  You nor I could transform that sword.  Losing your left arm was destined to be no matter who pulled that old sword out.”

That was then Sesshomaru turned around with the same angered expression on his face.  Kasami was still not used to him.  He was far different from the others and she would have to tip-toe in order to keep herself out of harm's way.  Sesshomaru angrily stated, “So you expect me to say that I was wrong..  I'm afraid you don't know me very well then.  Now, give me one reason to keep your wretched life.”

Kasami weighed her options.  She gazed at Sesshomaru and instantly saw a part of Inu no Taisho in him.  He reminded Kasami of how his father originally was; he always schemed and always sought to be the best..that is, until he met Lady Izayoi..  Kasami remembered that love she felt for his father and had longed to be in Lady Izayoi's position..  Now, as she looked straight into Sesshomaru's eyes, Kasami felt her heart tug as she also glanced down at the blood dripping from where his arm used to be.  She would not try to change him, but she would teach him what his father had also learned.

“I was wrong,” Kasami lowered her gaze, “For that, I wish to be given one last chance to prove myself useful to your service.”

She waited a few moments before glancing up to see his reaction.  He had walked over to her and stood still in front of her.  Kasami looked up at him as he pulled up his sleeve where the arm was missing, “Fix it.”

Without hesitating, Kasami put her palms around the stub.  She couldn't bring back an arm, but she would make one that was an exact replica.  It could shatter if excessive force is put on it, but Sesshomaru should be fine.  He accepted the best she could for his arm without a word spoken.  Kasami didn't mind.  After he tested his temporary arm for a few moments, he continued to walk in silence as Kasami trailed behind.

The Next Few Days

Sesshomaru had Kasami do minor tasks that she figured he could've done himself.  Some where to fetch water, make a fire for Jaken, gather and cook food, but soon Kasami did most of these tasks without being told.  Then, they traveled to a bustling village full of a varieties of demons.  There were many human slaves being traded and drafted into new homes.  Kasami kept close to Sesshomaru as they entered the busy village, and all eyes fell on Sesshomaru.  Loose women narrowed their eyes on him, warriors stared over at him in surprise, and others moved out of his way as he continued to walk through the village.

Then, a seedy merchant, a disgusting, wretch of what might've been a cat-demon, approached Sesshomaru with a slight bow, “Why isn't it the Lord Sesshomaru?  You honor us at the village, but I see you have a prize with you.  You could buy anything you've ever desire if you sell your Wish-Caster.”

Kasami held her breath as her sharp gaze went to Sesshomaru, who paused in the middle of the street.  Her kind, as a Moon Demon, was also known as a Wish-Caster.  Would he sell her off that easily?  Sesshomaru did not answer and continued to walk away.  Kasami dodged the beedy gaze of the cat demon as his tail twitched in anger.  Sesshomaru headed deeper into the village before taking over the headman's manor, quite easily as Kasami had noted.  He then went to a feel behind the manor and gazed up at the sky.  Kasami watched from not too far, she would have to keep her eyes close on him in this village.

Inuyasha
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

He had kept silent most of the way back.  There was no reason to talk when it came to Kasami coming around.  Or, at least that's how Kagome had felt.  Everytime Kasami would emerge from behind Sesshomaru, Kagome noticed that Inuyasha held back.  He wouldn't bark harsh words at her like he did the others, he wouldn't try to harm a hair on her, and he would not tolerate the others speaking low about her.  She wasn't hurt by this sense of honor towards an old friend, but she was curious to why he didn't just ask her to join him and leave his brother?

That evening, Kagome decided to bring the matter up.  She knew it was a sensitive topic for Inuyasha, so she waited until the others were asleep.  Kagome slowly made her way towards Inuyasha and laid her head on his shoulder.  It had been awhile since they talked alone together.  Kagome then murmured, “Are you ok?  You've been too quiet since that fight..”

“I'm fine, Inuyasha answered gruffly, “It doesn't matter.”

Kagome chose to change her words.  She then glanced up at him, “Kasami must be very nice; she did get me and that imp out of there when the fight became heated.”

Inuyasha gazed at the fire that seemed like a great distance away.  He then nodded slightly, “Yeah...she's good at getting out of a tight spot..”

A few minutes passed before Kagome asked, “Why is she so special that your father summoned her only?”

It was probably too forward to ask, but Kagome had to be specific.  Inuyasha was a 'one word' type of guy and wouldn't give an answer that was longer than two words.  She figured he would only get mad and take a walk, but he sat very still and kept his gaze on the fire.  Then, he answered, “Kasami can grant wishes and obey commands without fail.  She's a lethal weapon as well as the best healer.  But, for a rule as her kind, she's the only one able to exist in this world.”

“Then why is she-”

“That's what she decided to do.  Look, no more questions.  I don't want to talk about it,” Inuyasha pulled away from Kagome and went for a walk.

Kagome sat puzzled by the fire.  As much as she wanted to know more about the subject, she would have to wait until another time for more answers.

“There is a sword-forger within this village who can create a demonic sword for me.  You are ordered to give him the Demon-Eye gem and retreive the sword.  When he is finished, kill him.”

Those were Kasami's orders.  The village was quiet in the morning as vendors were opening their shops for the day.  Demons who traveled into the village recently were still camped outside, sharpening their weapons or feasting on a kill.  As she walked by in her white servant robes, some eyed her curiously as others murmured hushed words to the other.  She did not fear them, but she wouldn't be the one who would pick of fight with these foolish demons either.  Finally, she came across a dark-skinned creature that looked as if he crawled out of a crack from Hell.  His eyes were ruby red as his jagged teeth stuck out from inside his mouth.  What little hair was on his head was shaggy and the color of dirt.  Kasami kept her distance at first, he emitted a stench that envied sulfur, and took small, short steps toward him as she kept her nose and mouth covered.  The creature turned towards her with a wide smirk as he looked her up and down, “Tell me, bitch of the dog demon, what errand are you running that involves me?”

“Are you not a sword-forger, Wai?” Kasami asked, keeping any bity words out of her words, “I am sent to give you this in request you forge a sword for my master.”

Kasami held out the Demon-Eye gem, then the demon eagerly snatched it from her palm and held it to his nose.  He then proceeded to lick the outside of the gem before holding it up to his large, crimson eyes.  After, what Kasami would call a sexual experience, he finished, Wai's smirk grew even more as his claw-like limbs stretched before he began to make his fire-pit larger, “Of course, of course.  Give me a full day and I will present a sword that will destroy an entire country.”

“Do not fail me,” Kasami warned before leaving the gruesome creature.

She returned to where Sesshomaru was staying to see him examining the arm she had created for him.  Kasami approached him before bowing, “Your request is completed, I'll bring you the sword tomorrow.”

“You have yet to fail me,” Sesshomaru commented, before glancing over at her, “Your work is improving.  Go about your day, consider it compensation from your master.”
