Inuyasha: Yes Hello.
Riley: Sorry for no updating, computer got a virus and had to get a new one. That means that I half to rewrite the next few chapters ALL OVER AGAIN!
Miroku: Yes, ain't that a bitch?
Sango: I'll say.
Riley: So now, to ze story!
Inuyasha: Riley Maxwell does not own Inuyasha.
Riley: For if I did, there'd be a few diffrences.

Chapter 13
The Main Problem With Facing Your Past

Sesshomaru and Inuyasha sat there. Sesshomaru was polishing his gun and Inuyasha was sharpening his switchblade knife. There was an obvious tension in the air as both brothers were not speaking.

A lot had happened. Rin was pregnant, Kagome was somehow distant. Miroku had dissapeared somewhere and so didn't Sango but nobody knew if they were together or just on their separate ways. Renegade, as they all have learned, seemed to be silent in operations. A bit too silent which bothered even Kagome and Rin. Not to mention, that tonight was the night of the race.

Wolfs vs. Spiders vs. Inus for the control of the citys underworld. The only problem is that news that both groups have a secret weapon.

A knock came to the door.

"Come in,"grunted Sesshomaru. Popping through was Aiji.

"Sesshomaru, Inuyasha, the cars are set to perfection. We're working on the bike right now,"she said.

"Tell Nina to assemble the weapons too,"Inuyasha said now polishing his knife.

"The weapons?"Aiji questioned.

"If we're going up against rivals, then there's no guarentee that they'll play fair. Besides if this secret weapon we keep hearing about is so good, then we're gonna need them,"Inuyasha stated.

"Very well. Oh and Sesshomaru, Rin would like to see you,"Aiji stated soon before dissapearing out of the door. Sesshomaru stood up and was about to exit the room before stopping.

"Inuyasha,"Sesshomaru began.

"Hn,"he answered back.

"Has Miroku checked in yet?"Sesshomaru asked.

"Nope."

"Don't loose sight of the competition. Perhaps the weapons are a bit too much."

"Dammit Sesshomaru, I'm going to protect this gang with my life,"Inuyasha stated.

"Don't forget you're with Kagome. I know what you're planning brother,"Sesshomaru said. Inuyasha stood up and snapped his knife shut.

"You don't know anything,"Inuyasha stated.

"Protect Kagome, Protect the Gang, and Protect yourself. Don't give up everything for something this small,"he answered back.

"SMALL?"Inuyasha asked loudly. "You've been waiting to kick the Wolfs and the Spiders at this event all year! You've been wanting to prove to father that you are a true leader of the Inus. And now it's small?"

"Yes."

"Rins changed you a lot,"Inuyasha stated. He headed for the opposite door that lead outside to the stairs.

"Where are you going?"asked Sesshomaru.

"To the bar."

"Hn. Still the short tempered stubborn Inuyasha. Kagome hasn't changed you that's for sure,"Sesshomaru stated. "Or perhaps she couldn't. And never could. Is this true?"

"I thought you had to see Rin,"Inuyasha snapped.

"I get it now,"Sesshomaru said.

"What do you get?"Inuyasha asked.

"You're avoiding her. You forgave her, you loved her, you recieved love back. And now you're pushing her away again. This is just like the case with Kik-"Sesshomaru was interupted.

"What do you want from me?"Inuyasha asked.

"To protect Kagome without killing yourself. To tell the truth I don't wanna loose my brother in an event this small. The Inus wont loose. We have you, I, Kagome, Aiji, Nina and more. You're so obsessed with defeating Kouga and Naraku of the Spiders that your forgetting that they have nothing to loose except a lil competition and you have everything."

Inuyasha stood there silent. He wanted to glare at Sesshomaru. His elder brother had a knack for spotting out Inuyashas intentions without him even leaving clues of them.

"Go see what Rin wants,"Inuyasha mumbled. "I'll be back later." And with that Inuyasha walked out the door.

Sesshomaru sighed and then walked out the opposite door. Rin was downstairs in the shops office area where she and Kagome have set up a temporary home. With so much competition in the air, it's not safe for those with the Inu scent to be on the streets. Especially with Rin in her condition and Kagome still recovering from everything that's happened.

"Rin?"knocked Sesshomaru.

"Come in,"Rin answered.

"You wanted to see me?"Sesshomaru asked. Rin held up something.

"What's that?"

"A message. From B."

"B? Isn't he your former boss?"Sesshomaru asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes, he's given us valuable information,"Rin concluded.

"But isn't working with those outside the organizations illegal in Renegades Laws?"Sesshomaru asked.

"Technially yes. But B's been like a father to us all and he'd help us in anyway,"Rin stated.

"So what is this information?"Sesshomaru asked. Rin handed him the manilla envelope. And suddenly Sesshomaru gasped with wide eyes.

"It's the secret weapon."

Sango turned into the alleyway.

"Well hello there pretty lady,"came a familiar voice. Sango gasped as she turned her angle to see Miroku leaning casually against the wall.

"Miroku! What are you doing here?"asked Sango.

"I could ask the same thing. And what's with the getup?"asked Miroku.

"You half to go now!"Sango rushed trying to push Miroku out of the alleyway.

"What's going on Sango?"Miroku asked sternly.

"I can't tell you,"Sango stated.

"Hn. Tell me,"Miroku requested.

"I told you I can't tell you!"Sango cried out. "You half to go now!"

"What's. Going. On. Sango?"Miroku said. Sango sighed knowing that he wouldn't leave.

"I'm undercover."

"Undercover? For who?"Miroku looked at her sternly.

"I'm not with Renegade if that's what you're thinking. I told you all that Kagome, Rin and I quit. I'm following someone,"Sango hushed.

"Who?"asked Miroku.

"Me." The two gasped and turned around. Miroku was kicked back into a stack of garbage cans and Sango was punched back into the wall. Sango and Miroku quickly recovered from the blows and stood up. There stood a man. He wore a black tuxedo and had long curly black hair up in a high pony tail.

Behind him stood five people. A man with light violet hair and a mask around his face was the one closest to the leader.

"Naraku,"Miroku growled. Sango turned to Miroku.

"Now do you see?"Sango asked.

"Hn. Pretty lady, tis shame you half to die."Naraku stated.

"Fuck you!"Sango spat.

"Kill her first. I wanna see that mouth that uttered those words cry out in pain begging for its life,"Naraku smirked. The one with the light violet hair and alabaster skin stepped foreward. He held a scythe and chain in his hands.

"You there, Kohaku, get that foolish Inu over there,"Naraku stated. A boy stepped foreward. Sango froze.

"K-kohaku? Y-you mean it was you?!"Sango said with rage overcoming her. "You're the one who kidnapped Kohaku when he was a baby."

Kohaku looked over at Sango.

"Sango, what's going on?"asked Miroku. Sango gripped her hands into fists. Screams pounded in her head. A fire raged through her parents house when Sango emerged from her room holding little baby Kohaku who cried out screams.

"SANGO?!"Miroku questioned again.

"I can't believe this. Naraku of the Spider Demon Gang kidnapped my only brother, slaughtered my father and burned my mother alive. 12 long years. That's why I joined Renegade. You...YOU SON OF A BITCH!"Sango cried out lashing foreward and turning her umbrella outwards, grasped the tip and pulled out a hidden sword.

She ran foreward, pulled the knife back and sliced across Naraku's violet haired lackies chest before he had a chance to even comprehend that Sango was attacking.

He fell to the ground and Sango turned towards Naraku. She picked up the scythe and chain and threw it quickly aiming for his head. It stuck to a brick wall as Naraku had dissapeared.

But then he had reappeared behind her. He held a knife to her throat. She could feel his breath on her neck and the vibrations from his chuckle made her flare with anger.

"Miroku of the Inu Gang. Your scent is all over her. But do you know her? Do you know that 12 years ago, my gang infiltrated a human household. We slaughtered her father slashing him to pieces and soon after devoured his body. Let it be known Sango that his head still hangs above my mantle."

"You bastard!"Miroku growled. Kohaku pulled out a knife and stabbed Miroku in the leg.

"No no Kohaku. I want him to see and hear this,"Naraku stated.

"The mother I had raped and threw into a small room with a blanket on fire wrapped around her." Sango heard powerful screams and felt a trickle of blood come down her neck staining her shirt. "I found her huddled in a corner holding a baby. I picked her up by her hair and dangled the little wench out the window. Then I dropped her. Onto the rocky cliffs below. Funny isn't it? He must've hit the ocean instead." Naraku brought his knife down to her stomach and sliced off one button.

"LET HER GO NOW!"Miroku said in pure rage as Sango revelaed tears. She began to gently shake. Miroku could tell that she was so angry that it scared her. She never told him her past. Matter of fact, none of the girls told any of them their pasts. Now he realized why Sango was a dedicated woman to working to exterminate demons.

"Never." Naraku sliced off three more buttons revealing her white shirt underneath.

"You son of a bitch!"Miroku stated before Kohaku slashed his back with a sword causing him to fall.

"Inus. I spit on your pride, and I will defeat you each one by one,"Naraku smirlked. He placed the knife at the top of the shirt and sliced down. It had sliced through her bra and created a thin red line that began to bleed from just under her collar bone down past her belly button.

Naraku had then creeped his hand up.

Sango held her breath. "Kohaku, stop this. Help us."

"Sorry lady, I don't know you,"Kohaku stated.

"Kohaku stop this!"Miroku shouted. Kohaku kicked his head down into the dirt of the alleyway. The members of the gang smirked and snickered as Miroku was constantly kicked by the boy of 13.

"KOHAKU!"cried out Sango. Naraku held the knife to Sangos neck.

"Move and I'll slice your throat,"Naraku warned.

"KOHAKU!"Inuyasha heard a cry. He immediatly recongnized that voice. It was Sango, no doubt about it. And her voice sounded like it was in pain. Inuyasha jumped to the alley way where he heard the cries.

"Move and I'll slice your throat,"came a warning from a man holding Sango to him with a knife on her throat.

"You'll slice it anyways you sick bastard!"Sango cried out.

"NARAKU!"shouted Inuyasha. Naraku turned his head to see the Inu leader himself holding up a gun.

"Inuyasha!"Miroku reached out only to have Kohaku swipe out a dagger and stab his hand. "AHHHH!"

"Inuyasha?"Sango asked.

"Let her go Naraku,"Inuyasha warned. "Because I guarentee that it'll be your head that this bullet goes into!"

"But isn't violence before the race illegal Inuyasha?"grinned Naraku.

"Since when have you followed the rules? In case you haven't noticed, you're stabbing an Inu and holding an Inu against you with a knife."

"Shoot me then. Show me what an Inu can do,"Naraku dared with a grinning look in his eyes.

Inuyasha nodded and shot at Narakus feet. Naraku, not expecting Inuyasha to shoot there backed up. Sango fell to the ground and then thrust her heeled leg up kicking Naraku square in the gut.

Naraku fell to the ground. Sango pulled out her sword again and positioned it at Narakus throat.

"Well, well well. Seems like the tables have turned,"Naraku stated. Sango thrust her sword into the throat of Naraku after he chuckled. She then began to continuiously stab him, slash him, not caring of the blood spray on her face and clothes and body. Kohaku had dissapeared. And the lackies and left when Inuyasha arrived.

Inuyasha helped up Miroku who removed the knife from his left hand.

"Die! DIE! DIIIE!"Sango said pounding on the lifeless corpse under her. She rolled over off of him and curled up and began to cry.

Seeing Sango cry made Inuyasha and Miroku want to cry.

"What's this?"Inuyasha asked. He pulled out a wooden puppet from the slashed stomach of Naraku. "Just as I thought. The fuckers too afraid to show up on his own so he sends his puppets."

Miroku bent over towards Sango.

"Sango,"Miroku whispered.

"That's why I joined Renegade. To kill the lousy scum who killed my parents and kidnapped my brother, and..and left me to die." Her cries did not cease. Miroku went to pick her up but his hand, and leg failed him.

"I'll do it,"Inuyasha stated tossing the puppet away.

He bent over and picked up Sango. She did not cease crying.

"What happened here?"Inuyasha asked.

"I don't know,"Miroku said. "I followed her and she was here, waiting for him. Waiting for Naraku. I don't really know what she was doing here. "

"We'll find out later. For now we half to get her back to Inu territory."

Kagome looked out the window. It was the afternoon but inside the shop where she was helping out Aiji and Nina, it was as dark as the night.

"Aiji, Nina, where has Inuyasha gone?"Kagome said as she finished waxing the hood of the Tetsuiaga.

Her question was soon answered when the door to the shop opened up and inside ran Inuyasha holding a bleeding Sango, and limping behind him an injured Miroku. Aiji and Nina immediatly dropped their stuff to help support Miroku and Kagome leaped over to Sango and Inuyasha.

Rin and Sesshomaru emerged from inside the office not long after.

"What happened?!"shrieked Rin and Kagome as Inuyasha layed her on a table.

"Naraku attacked,"Inuyasha said.

"But attacking before a competition is illegal,"Sesshomaru stated.

"Since when has Naraku ever followed the rules anyways Sesshomaru?"asked Inuyasha.

"Good point. Aiji get the supplies, Nina grab towels, get some wet ones too and a change of clothes please,"Sesshomaru commanded. The two twins nodded and sped out of the room.

"Why is she crying?"Kagome asked holding Sangos hand.

"She faced her past."

"Her past?"Kagome gasped.

"Kohaku. Does that name ring a bell?"Miroku questioned.

"Yes, yes it does. That's her brother."Rin stated.

Aiji and Nina returned. "Here's the stuff. Should we get Kagura?"

"Yes, she's the doctor around here."

"Kagome,"Inuyasha began. "Miroku tells me that Sango has a troubled past that caused her to join Renegade. Why did you join?"

Kagome looked up at Inuyasha. "What do you mean?"she stated defensively.

"I want to know your past."

"I joined because I wanted to,"Kagome stated as if her answer was an acceptable one.

"Tell the truth,"Inuyasha stated. "I don't want this to happen to you!" He pointed to a hysterically crying Sango, who continued to bleed on the table.

Kagome looked at Sango with sympathy and horror.

"I-I remember...that a gang of demons attacked my house. This was a long time ago Inuyasha I don't think that I can remember!"Kagome pleaded.

"Tell me,"Inuyasha requested. "Try to remember."

"Fine,"Kagome breathed in a heavy sigh.

"I remember that day was among the worst of my lives. A gang of demons came into my house. Mother was making dinner, Grandpa was napping and my brother was...crying."

"Why was he crying?"Inuyasha asked.

"We had went to a funeral that day,"Kagome answered. "My father was mudered and thrown off a bridge precisely one week before. Mother showed no emotion, and Grandpa, he didn't even believe it was real. My brother was so distraught that he hadn't stopped crying for a week."

"What happened next?"Inuyasha asked again.

"There was this wind. And the door busted open. I was sitting at the table at the time just starring at the table cloth. I remember so much at how I was so depressed that I didn't notice the scream my mother made at first."

"There was this man. He was tall and looked like a shadow. I couldn't remember his face. It was so windy that his hair blocked everything but his cold crimson eyes. He pinned mother down to the floor and said, 'We had a deal bitch.' and my mother began to cry. Gunshots were heard from the living room where Grandpa slept. And upstairs I could hear Souta, my brother. He got shot when he peeked out his door. I hid in the hutch cupboard and only saw the man beat my mother. She cried out and I tried to hide my sobs."

"Kagome,"Inuyasha said in sympathy as Kagome felt like she was going to cry.

"I watched them beat her to death through the crack in the cupboard. They stayed there for a few hours, searching for me but luckilly the hutch had that disguised cupboard on it so they would've never guessed. I never left that cupboard until 4 days later. No food, no water, and nothing at all. I didn't talk, I didn't do anything. Soon after these other people came to my house. They wore all black like those shadow people but they knew where I was immediatly. They took all the bodies, and not long after I learned that they were an organization named Renegade." Kagome wiped her eyes for they stung from unshed tears.

"And?"Inuyasha asked.

"They said, that they were too late to stop the gang. But they learned that they killed my father because he owed debts to them. Of course when he died, mother inherited the responsibilites. And they just killed my brother and grandpa out of cold blood. I was next in line to inherit the debts of course and they were going to either kill me or work me to death as their slave."

"Oh Kagome,"Inuyasha said with wide eyes.

"Renegade Agent B, now Renegade Leader B, took me in. B taught me everything I needed to know. There I met Sango and not long after I came into the organiztion, Rin came in. We were paired together because of our pasts. When I was 14, almost 15, I went out on my first mission. It was the same man who killed my family. And...."

"Kagome, tell me. It's going to be okay,"Inuyasha assured her. Kagome cried on his shoulder. "I killed him out of cold blood. I slashed him and shot him until he was nothing but a pile of mush."

Inuyasha was shocked as Kagome cried onto him. Sango had calmed down. Kagura was summoned and put Sango to sleep.

"What happened to Rin?"asked Inuyasha.

"Nobody knows. Not even her. Renegade erased her memory of the past she suffered. All I know, is that B told me that hers was worse than Sangos and mine combined. For the first 12 years I knew her, she never talked to anybody but me and Sango."

"Hn."

"Inuyasha,"Aiji approached with Nina next to her.

"What is it?"asked Inuyasha.

"We half to prepare for the race. You too Kagome,"Nina stated.

Kagome sniffed and nodded.

"Oh look at me, I'm such a wreck." She made a weak laugh and the dissapeared into the shop.

Inuyasha watched her. Very concerned and more trusting than ever.

Riley: GOOD? BAD? BETTER? WORSE?
Miroku: I think they get the point.
Sango: Whatta chapter!
Kagome: Wow, what music were you listening to when you wrote this?
Inuyasha: I'll say.
Riley: I don't remember. Review if you wish! Hopefully the next chapter wont take so long to rewrite.
