InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Relaxation? ❯ Chapter Two ( Chapter 2 )
Ding!
Ding!
"Hey, Urameshi, why don't you get that?" Kuwabara demanded.
He, Yusuke, Heie, and Kurama were resting lazily on the couches in Kuwabara's living room. After just getting back from a rather tiring mission involving a bat demon, a small child, and somewhere along the line an ancient goat (don't ask), it was suffice to say that they were absolutely exhausted.
Ding!
Grrr… that doorbell was really starting to get on Heie's nerves.
Keiko, hearing the fire apparition's growl of annoyance, quickly volunteered to answer the door in order to evade any conflict. "I'll get it and you guys just rest, okay?" she assured as the girl bustled out of the room and down the hall towards the front door.
Ding!
Keiko flipped the latch on the door and slowly pulled it open to see a girl about her age, perhaps even a bit older, standing impatiently on the front porch. The girl had the longest, blackest hair Keiko had ever seen on a modern human and dark blue-gray eyes. They reminded her of a storm in the ocean, a very unusual color for one of her origin. The girl was apparently wearing her school uniform: a white long-sleeved shirt with a green and white collar and an abnormally short green skirt to match.
"Uh…" the girl began nervously, "does Kuwabara still live here?" Kuwabara jumped up from his position on the couch as he heard a timid female voice.
"Kagome?" she heard a familiar voice call from the confines of the house.
Keiko watched, dumfounded, as the girl's eyes lit up and the next thing she knew she was being pushed to the side by a white, green, and black blur and said blur was speeding through the house, headed straight for Kuwabara.
"Eeeeeeek! Kuwa-chan! I haven't seen you in so long!" Kagome exclaimed as she firmly attached her body around the spirit detective's muscular waist.
"Kagome!" Kuwabara shouted in response as he hugged her tightly, grinning like an idiot. Everyone watched on in total confusion as the dark-haired beauty kissed the boy's cheeks happily, her own cheeks flushed with excitement.
"Who's that?" Kurama whispered into Yusuke's ear. They were both sprawled out on one of the couches beside eacother.
"I've never seen her before. Pretty, though."
"Keiko's right over there, you know," the kitsune chuckled.
"Oh…"
"Oh, yeah!" Kuwabara exclaimed, just remembering something. He carefully pulled Kagome off of him and set her down beside him. "Guys, this is Kagome. Kagome, this is Yusuke Urameshi, Kurama, Heie, and Keiko," he explained, pointing to each person as he introduced them. Kagome blushed as she noticed Keiko's disorientation.
She laughed nervously and put a hand on the back of her head. "Sorry about that. I just haven't seen Kuwa-chan in such a long time! It's been at least four months!"
Keiko smiled. "It's alright."
So they all sat down so Kuwabara could explain who exactly Kagome was.
.
"Sorry for not visiting, Kagome," Kuwabara apologized, slinging his arm around the girls shoulders as she sat down beside him on the couch. "We've just been so busy lately."
"I understand completely! I've been really busy, too! Hey! You guys should come back with me through the well! It's really peaceful and relaxing and clean and… well, I think it would help you relax," Kagome suggested to Kuwabara. She had told him a few years ago about her adventures in Feudal Japan and strangely enough, he had believed her. Though, now that she thought about it, it wasn't really all that surprising, considering that he was a spirit detective.
"Sounds good to me. What about you guys?" Kuwabara asked his companions.
Heie grunted, Kurama nodded and smiled kindly, and Keiko shook her head excitedly.
"I guess, if it'll get us out any more missions for a while," Yusuke agreed.
"Good! Then, you guys can come with me tomorrow. Kuwa-chan, can I sleep here tonight? We haven't had a sleepover in a long while, anyway." Kagome pleaded, looking up at the redheaded boy with big dewy eyes.
"Sure. You can sleep in Mom's bed since she's out this weekend anyway," he complied before Kagome bustled up the stairs, already knowing Kuwabara's house by heart.
.
The group of six walked down the sidewalk towards the Sunset Shrine. They were an odd sight to see with two demons, a dark-haired high school boy with an angry face, a sweet girl with short brown hair and another girl with ebony hair that went to her waist sitting atop the broad shoulders of a tall redheaded man. Yes indeed, it was unusual.
Suddenly, a woman on a floating oar popped out of nowhere and landed beside them, the wooden staff disappearing immediately. Kagome would have fallen backwards off of Kuwabara's shoulders, had he not grabbed her feet and pulled her forward again. Upon closer inspection, the female had very long very bright blue hair and was now wearing modern clothes as apposed to the yukata she'd been sporting just moments ago.
"Hello, everyone," Botan greeted cheerfully. She then noticed the girl riding on Kuwabara's shoulders. "Who's this?" she asked, pointing to Kagome.
So Kuwabara explained who she was and where they all were going.
"B-but you can't do that! Koemna-sama needs you guys!"
"Oh, come on, Botan. Give it a rest, will you? We need a break," Yusuke complained from the other side of the group.
"Well, I suppose I could bend the rules just a bit this time. You all have been working quite hard these past few months. But only on one condition!"
Kagome sighed. "And what would that be?"
She was surprised when she heard Botan exclaim, "That I get to come with you!" with a goofy smile of her pretty face.
"Oh, of course you can come!"
They soon arrived at the shrine and were making their way up the steps to the well house. When they made it to the top, Kagome leaped down from her position on Kuwabara and hurried over to the sliding doors on the little shack that housed the ancient, magic well.
"Okay, I think we should go in in pairs incase the well doesn't let one of you through. I've never tried to bring someone back with me," Kagome explained.
They all nodded and chose partners. They hopped down into the well, two by two, Kagome going last by herself.
