**Chap. 22- Finding Our Place

"I can't believe it's been two weeks since you were married." Kareena said to Kagome. Kagome sighed.

"You and me both, sister, you and me both." Kagome laid back onto the soft bed. "So what did you want to talk about?"

"Rai." The younger girl sounded strangled.

"It'll take time. Plus I've decided already and he doesn't have anything to say about it." Kagome said sitting up again.

"You need to talk to him."

"No." Kagome said strongly. "I will not do this. He has swayed me too much in the past and I will not let him do it again."

Kareena only sighed and picked up a brush, whisking it through her hair. The room fell silent for a moment. "Please."

"No Kareena." She whispered.

"Please Kagome." Her eyes were sad in the mirror.

Kagome said it louder this time. "No."

"Fine." She slammed the brush down on the dresser and stalked out of the room.

Dinner was tense. Like it had been the night Kagome had told everyone she was leaving the band. She kept her eyes downcast.

"Okay fine. I give up. What the hell's going on?" Kagome broke the silence, lifting her eyes.

"What do you mean?" Felis asked.

"Why the hell is dinner so damn quiet and why the hell are we all acting like something is different between us? Yes, I married Inu. Get over it. Yes, I might be moving but might is the key word. Yes, you can feel betrayed but I will not even look back when I walk out o this house if you all are mad at me." She stood, catching everyone's eyes but Rai's. His were still downcast.

"And was it not all of you that I consulted before I wed? It was your decision, not my own. Was it not?" Kagome asked nearly coming unglued.

Kareena looked up at her a nervous look in her eyes.

Kagome finally addressed the subject she had waited for since Christmas. "Rai. Gods, Rai, what has our friendship come to? Can even you not tell me the simple truth that I shouldn't have gotten married? I know you are angry with me, but I need your consultance."

"It was not wrong. You asked us all, we discussed it alone with each other with out your knowing. We all decided it was better for you to go with him." Kareena answered for him.

"I was not addressing you was I?" Kagome's note in her voice was flat, a clear warning.

"Do not be angry with her Kagome." Rai spoke. It was the first time in six weeks.

"Was I wrong to marry?"

He closed his eyes, finally lifting his head. "Do you feel it was wrong?"

"No. But if you feel so…" His eyes burst open stilling her words.

"Then it is not. Do not leave here and never look back, because if you do you will loose something more than just us. You will loose your past." He stood and walked into the kitchen taking his plate with him.

The room sat silent, haunting her. No one seemed to move. Kagome closed her eyes and leaned heavily against the table. When she opened her eyes again everyone was gone.

Tears fell from her eyes, slowly dripping down to her arms then to the table. "Heaven on earth, and hell in my heart. Am I forbidden to love with out losing?"

"No." Rai's voice whispered in her ear softly. "You are forbidden to loose without loving. You need not to feel trapped to stay here by us Kagome. We want you, but Inuyasha he needs you."
