***Chap. 23- Saying Good Bye

Her bags were thrown into the car carelessly. Sango was crying on her shoulder, Kareena tearing up as well. "I'll be back. I will. And we have the awards tonight."

Kareena bit her lip. "I'll take care of them while your gone." Her voice was shaky. "Don't stay gone too long though."

"I won't. I can't stay away from you people." Kagome let out a small chuckle.

Felis' eyes locked with hers as he bent down to kiss her forehead. "Don't you worry about us."

Darren did the same, not saying anything. His muscles were taut as he turned away and stalked back into the house. The rest stared after him for a moment knowing his pain. Kagome almost broke down, her eyes started to water. Inu wrapped his arm around her warmth soothing her.

"Bye everyone. I'll see you tonight." She blew a kiss, sliding into the car, tears finally falling. Felis shut the door gently for her.

She kept her eyes looking at her friends, the ones she had rescued. Rai, the homeless. Darren, the addict. Felis, the convicted. They all had their special place in her heart. And then there was Sango, her best friend. Rin, the shy one. Kareena, the leader of her band.

What was she thinking leaving them? She turned to look at Inu. His golden eyes glanced at her questioningly. She smiled. Everything would be alright.

She stared at the palace before her. Three pairs of eyes greeted her as she stepped out of the car. "Kagome meet my band."

"Aren't there four?"

"Darius had to go to town for something." The boy on the right spoke up. That was all he was really, a boy.

"That's Matten, the brat of the bunch. Next to him is his brother, Marquis. And this gentleman is Korbin, my most trusted."

"What about Darius?"

"He is the leader when Miroku and I are not here."

Right then a man ran up, huffing. "Sorry, I'm late." He bent on one knee. "Forgive me milady."

"Of coarse." Kagome nodded gently afraid to speak more than she had to. Inu took her hand, which calmed her nerves some. He led her into the house, band members trailing behind her. The house was grand, each room bigger than the last.

The silence hummed in her ears, other than the footsteps she heard nothing, not even the tick of a clock. It scared her somewhat. "Kagome, this is where you'll be staying." Inu's voice interrupted her thoughts.

She gave a small smile then walked into the room he was gesturing to. It was enormous. "It's attached to my rooms." He whispered slipping his hands around her hips, and hugging her to him. She rested her head on his shoulder.

"I thought this was a bad idea. I really did but not that I'm here it feels right. Kareena will take care of the band and I will be able to live my life how I want it, with who I want." Her eyes found his, a tempting lure. "But there's something I want more than to live my life with you."

He didn`t take the bait. "What is that?"

"To live it in the place I want. I don't want to have my own room. I want to share- with you."

Inu quirked an eyebrow. "That can be arranged."

She smiled lifting her head. "And I want children."
