Chapter 1: The Final Battle

 

“InuYasha! Duck!” Kagome yelled as she released the arrow from her bow. InuYasha moved and the arrow sped toward Naraku. Unfortunately, the girl's warning had alerted him as well and it only scraped his arm as it flew past. “Shoot!” said Kagome reloading her bow. She held it steady, waiting for the right moment to release it.

 

InuYasha was attacking fiercely with the tetsusaiga but somehow Naraku managed to dodge each blow. The fight so far had been hard. Both Sango and Miroku had been knocked unconscious and were lying several yards away with Shippo who was trying to wake them up. Kagome had many cuts along her body and had lost a lot of blood, yet she forced herself to keep fighting. She wouldn't give up, not now that they were so close.

 

Finally, Kagome found a spot and took aim. She was about to release the arrow when she was blown backward by Naraku. She landed hard on the edge of the cliff they were on. As she tried to pull herself up, the ground beneath her cracked and crumbled. Just as she began to fall, InuYasha grab her hand. “Kagome. Hold on.” He said.

 

“I… I can't. I'm slipping.” Kagome replied tightening her grip on his sweaty hand. She looked into his eyes. “ I love you” she whispered as her fingers slipped out of his grasp and she fell into the depths of the canyon below.

 

“Kagome!” InuYasha screamed.

 

“KuKuKu” The familiar laugh of Naraku came from behind him. “That foolish girl. She never should have interfered.”

 

InuYasha turned back toward him. His eyes now held an anger that had never been seen before. “Kaze no Kizu!” he yelled suddenly. The tetsusaiga swung around and cut Naraku through the center. He fell to the ground. Finally, after all this time, he was dead.

 

InuYasha bent down and grabbed the Shikon no Tama from around his neck.

 

“InuYasha?” Miroku and Sango had just awoken. They looked down at Naraku's body and smiled. “He… He's dead,” said Sango looking around at the others.

 

“After all this time” said Miroku. He looked down at his right hand then began to unwrap it. The hole that had once been there was now gone. He looked at Sango, then Shippo, then InuYasha and a confused look appeared on his face. “InuYasha? Why are you frowning? Aren't you glad he's dead?”

 

“Hold on.” Said Sango. “Where's Kagome?” InuYasha turned and began quickly climbing down the cliff behind him. “InuYasha?” Suddenly, a realization hit her. “No… She can't be… K- Kagome.”

 

Miroku and Shippo stared at her for a moment and the understood too. “KAGOME! NO!” Shippo looked over the cliff to where InuYasha was already half way down. He began crying and screaming for Kagome. Miroku simply shook his head unable to believe it.

 

“Kirara! Let's go! “ Sango cried and her cat changed into its monster form. The three friends climbed aboard and headed down to help InuYasha look for Kagome.
