Chapter 7: Flashback

 

 

Keiko sat on the edge of what looked like a well. The place seemed so familiar but she couldn't place it. Something was telling her to jump in but she didn't know why.

 

“Hey. Are you leaving already?” a voice said behind her. She turned to see then hanyo she had met that day.

 

“InuYasha…”

 

“Will you come back again?”

 

“Huh…?”

 

“It's just… uh… I thought it would be better if you were far away… but…Then I saw your face, somehow… I felt inspired. Then I realized… I actually did want you near me…”

Keiko stared at his as he and her surroundings faded away. `What was that all about?'

 

Keiko sat on the floor of the hut making sure she had enough arrows for the journey. Chieko sat beside her packing food. “I had the dream again last night.” Keiko said.

 

“Anything new?”

 

“Yes, actually. It was kinda weird though. InuYasha was in it.”

 

“The hanyo?”

 

“Yeah. He was asking me not to leave.”

 

“Leave? To where?”

 

“I don't know. I think mind is starting to play tricks on me.” She smiled at her friend who smiled back.

 

“Or maybe, he's really your long lost love and was asking you not to go home to your family because they were against you getting married and would stop at nothing to keep you apart.” They both laughed.

 

“Yeah right. InuYasha is so not my type.”

 

“Oh really! Then what is your type.”

 

*Flashback*

 

“Okay, so what's your type, anyway?”

 

“I dunno… I guess… A guy who's not too wild… not too full of himself… not too arrogant… not too stubborn … and is always understanding.”

 

`In short… any guy who is the exact opposite of InuYasha.'

 

*End Flashback*

 

“Hey! You just met the guy yesterday. How could you know him well enough to say your type is the exact opposite of him?” Chieko's voice brought her back to reality.

 

“Wha- what? I said that out loud?”

 

“Yeah. What's wrong?”

“It was part of something I just remembered. Some girls were asking me what my type was.”

 

“And that's what you answered!? Then he really is part of your past.”

 

“I doubt it Chieko. I think this is just like when Jin first showed up. Remember? He was in my dreams for along time.”

 

“Yeah, I guess.”

 

Suddenly the door flew open. “Are you girls coming or what?” InuYasha yelled.

 

“Yeah. We'll be there in a minute.”

 

Keiko thought she saw the beginnings of a smile creep onto his face when she looked at him but it disappeared as he yelled, “Well, hurry up or we're leaving without you.”

 

He left and Chieko whispered, “Well you gotta admit it. He is cute.”

 

“Yeah. Sure. If you think deadly fangs and claws are cute.”

 

“Don't forget the doggy ears” ^.^

 

“Whatever.” Keiko shook her head at her friend.

 

 

Later…

 

“Hi Keiko!” Keiko and Chieko were riding on Apple while Sango and Miroku were on Kirara. Shippo, who had been walking behind with InuYasha had just landed on Keiko's shoulder.

 

“Hello Shippo.” She smiled at the kitsune.

 

“Here, I made you something.” He slipped a paper flower into her hand.

 

“Oh, for me? It's beautiful.”

 

“Watch.” Shippo pointed at the flower. Keiko looked down to see the flower suddenly change into a butterfly. It sat in her hands for a moment then flew into the air.

 

“Wow! Thank you Shippo. That really made my day.” She swept him up into a big hug.

 

“Hey that was really neat Shippo!” said Sango.

 

“Yeah! Where'd you learn that one?” asked Miroku.

 

“InuYasha showed me how to make the flower and Kaede taught me the butterfly trick.”

 

“InuYasha makes flowers out of paper?” Keiko inquired.

 

“He makes lot's o' stuff when he's by himself. He carves things to. He just doesn't like people to know but I've got a whole collection of `em back at home. You know what else InuYasha likes?”

 

“What?” asked Keiko smiling. Shippo sure liked to talk.

 

“You.”

 

“What!?”

 

“Shippo! What are you doing up there?” InuYasha called.

 

“Um… nothing!” he turned back to Keiko. “Don't tell him I told you `kay.”

 

Keiko nodded and Shippo left her to perch on InuYasha's head. “He's so cute.”

 

“Well now that you finally admitted it why don't go get to know the guy?” Chieko grinned mischievously.

 

“I meant Shippo!”

 

“Sure you did. You've just been looking back at InuYasha this whole time for… no odd reason.”

 

“I have not been looking at him.”

 

“Right. You just keep telling yourself that.”
