Epilogue

“I wonder what's become of InuYasha and Keiko?” Miroku asked as he, Sango, Shippo, Chieko, Jin, Kirara, and Apple walked back toward the village.

“Good question. InuYasha never passes up a good fight. Do you think something happened to them?” his wife replied.

Chieko chewed on her bottom lip in worry. “I hope they're alright.”

“I'm sure they're fine. InuYasha wouldn't let her get hurt.” Jin replied.

Shippo, who'd been quite for sometime, suddenly jumped onto Miroku's head. Sniffing the air, he smiled. “I can smell `em. They're in the village.” With that he ran off to meet them. Apple followed quickly after him.

The other's continued their steady pace. They soon neared the hut that Chieko and Keiko shared. A delighted squeal, followed by laughter, came from within. Moments later an extremely happy kitsune bounded out carrying two strips of cloth.

“Stop! You can't go in there!” he shouted.

“What do you mean Shippo?” Miroku asked.

“They… um… they have a surprise for you. Put these on.” He thrust the cloths at Miroku and Sango. “Around your eyes. Like a blindfold. No peeking.”

Sango shrugged and tied the cloth around her head. Miroku did the same.

Jin grinned, guessing what was going on. “Don't we get blindfolds Shippo?”

“Huh? No… you and Chieko don't need them.”

A few minutes later InuYasha stepped out, followed by a girl in a pink blouse and a denim mini skirt.

“Hey you guy's. What's up?” InuYasha said casually.

“InuYasha, might I ask what is going on?” Miroku asked behind his blindfold.

“You can ask. But that doesn't mean I'm gonna answer.”
Chieko frowned at the girl who'd followed him. The face was that of her friend; the clothes however, were not. “Keiko…? What are you wearing?”

Keiko giggled. “Oh this old thing? It's nothing.”

“What? What's she wearing?” Sango asked, not liking the fact that she couldn't see. Her question simply brought forth more giggles from the girl and the kitsune beside her.

“Keiko-sama… Shippo tells us you and InuYasha have a surprise for us.”

“We do! You have to guess.”

There was a long moment of silence. Then Sango asked, “Can you give us a hint?”

“No.” InuYasha's reply was instant. He was enjoying their confusion.

“Oh, come on InuYasha. Can't we just give them one little, tiny hint?”

“What kind of hint?”

“Nothing big. Just one word.” She strolled a few feet away from him.

“Osuwari.”

BANG!

The reactions were immediate. Jin and Shippo burst into laughter. Chieko gasped, surprised. The other two simply stood in shock.

Sango recovered first and ripped off her blindfold. “Kagome!” The next instant they were in each other's arms, crying joyful tears.

When they finally pulled apart, Miroku had also removed his blindfold and moved to join them. Kagome grabbed his hand and one of Sango's and pulled them together. “You two got married!” She halfway shouted, grinning from ear to ear. “I can't believe it! I'm so happy for you!” Then they were both enveloped in a huge hug.

“Ahem!” A certain hanyou, covered in dirt, cleared his throat behind them causing Kagome to release her friends and spin around quickly.

“Oh! Um… Inuyasha… sorry about that.”

“Right… you're so sorry.” He replied sarcastically.

“I am! I just… well… it was funny.”

“No it wasn't. You were supposed to stick with the plan. You keep on doing stuff like this and I may take back the offer I made the other night.”

“Yeah right! You wouldn't do that!”

“I would.”

“… Come on InuYasha! I was just playing… I…”

She was cut off as he pulled her toward him dropped his mouth to hers. After a few moments he pulled back so that they were nose to nose and whispered, “So was I.”

For one peaceful moment, they were alone in their own world. Just the two of them. Then the moment was shattered by a whistle from Miroku.

“Alright InuYasha! I knew you had it in you!”

InuYasha growled. “Shut up, Monk!”

“You gotta admit, InuYasha, that was pretty smooth.” Jin put in.

Turning to his wife, Miroku puckered his lips. “Sango my love. Shall we follow suit?”

SMACK! “Maybe later.” She promised and left her husband rubbing his now red cheek. “So, Kagome. What's this offer InuYasha mentioned?”

“Well, um… I'll tell you tonight at the hot springs.”

“Um…” A small murmur from the side caused the group to turn. Chieko stood there with a look of utter confusion upon her face. “What exactly is going on?”

Everyone laughed.

Kagome walked over to her friend and put an arm around her shoulder. “Come on Chieko. Lunch is ready inside. We'll eat and then tell you the whole story.”

With that they all moved into the hut. All except InuYasha, that is. He stood where he was, thinking quietly. So much had changed in the last four years. He'd met the most amazing girl in the world and lost her in the process of destroying his archenemy. Now, he'd found her again and soon she would be his forever. He had great friends. He had a family. Everything was as it should be.

And they all lived…

“InuYasha! You coming?” Kagome called from the door.

“Yeah. I'm coming.” His girl was calling him and he couldn't ignore that. Besides… he smelled ramen.

…happily ever after.
