InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Remembering How I held You... ❯ Chapter 1
Remembering How I Held You.
He had been watching her for what seemed like hours, but he knew that only moments had passed between them. His heart screamed for him to tell her, tell her that he remembered almost everything about their few short days together as children. The soft light of the moon shown down on his hesitant frame.
Kagome turned to him again and wrapped her arms around him. "Inuyasha, do you remember what you promised me here?" She waved at the God Tree and its whispering leaves. Her dark eyes stared deep into his, her heart thumping unceremoniously in her chest. Did he remember more than she? The few fleeting memories in her mind were jumbled and confusing. Her heart was struggling to keep up with the swift, sweet flashbacks. Resting her dark head on his shoulder, she whispered, "Why didn't you come to get me? We've lost so much time…" And you suffered so much unnecessary pain, she thought as the wind blew gently around their bodies. She felt like she was six again, scared, confused and love sick.
Gulping, Inuyasha felt his palms begin to sweat. Kagome's lithe body and sweet scent were causing the memories to pour back to his mind. It was if she had cracked a dam in his heart, each small recollection causing him to shudder. They also reminded him of the innocent love he had lost and the possibilities cast to the wind by his stupid mistake. "I though you had come here on your own…" He held on to her as she tried to look up at him. He couldn't bear to look at her eyes when she finally understood. "Kikyo was at the well and I mistook her for you." Biting his lip, he waited for her to start to cry or smack him or worst of all, command him to sit.
To his amazement, Kagome started to laugh. "You mean, you hadn't met Kikyo before me?" Her eyes lit up like sparklers. "You loved ME first?"
His ears twitched in confusion… "Yes."
Kagome's heart was turning flips at the simple possibility… "So, you only fell in love with Kikyo because you thought she was me?" She grabbed his hands to keep him from turning away.
Blushing, eyes suddenly terribly interested in the pattern of moonlight shining through the God Tree's leaves, he said, "I've always loved you first and best…" The wind swirled around their feet, tickling them with fallen leaves. Gods, he couldn't believe that he had said that…what was he thinking? Kagome would never accept the simple fact that his attraction to Kikyo was all his fault…
Her soft, delicate hand was sliding down his throat, mindlessly playing with the beads circling his neck. A trail of warmth left him speechless as Kagome leaned up and kissed him, nibbling his lower lip. Her hand slowly spread over his heart…then she guided his hand to her own wildly pounding heart. "Listen, our hearts are beating together…"
A tiny six year old Inuyasha tumbled to the ground, tripping over his own long sleeves. Tears stung sharp in his trembling gold eyes. Kagome stopped as she noticed her playmate was no longer pursuing her. Rounding, she ran to his side almost crying herself as she saw the scrapes on his hands and face. "Inuyasha, are you okay?" Helping him up, she hugged him to her to keep him from crying.
Feeling a sense of security, he quieted and silently listened to Kagome's heart beat under her light summer dress. Eyes widening, he placed his hand over his own heart and waited.
Kagome watched all this, curious as to what her companion was doing…She had to strain to catch his soft words.
"Our hearts are beating together!" He looked up at her, happiness filling his heart. "Mother says that only people who truly love one another hearts' beat together!" He grabbed her hands and spun her around, giggling as joy filled him from his toes to the tips of his ears. Kagome smiled and laughed with him as he shouted over and over, "I love Kagome! Kagome loves me!"
Smiling with the precious traces of the hidden memory unearthed like a rare gem, Inuyasha pulled Kagome to him. Deepening the kiss, he leaned into her. Her scent was intoxicating him…like the joy had done when he was a child, the feeling of Kagome in his arms filled him with wonder. She was so much smaller than he was now. As children, Kagome had been just as tall if not a tiny bit taller than he had been. Now her head fit perfectly under his chin, the smell of her warm hair wafted to him. She tasted as sweet as she smelled, her tongue waging a playful battle with his own.
Kagome felt herself sigh, melting into the hanyou's strong arms. A warmth was spreading from her tummy through her body as he kissed her. The fine hairs on the back of her neck were rising to attention at the loving ministrations Inuyasha was performing on her mouth. Also rising was another memory from deep in her mind…their second kiss…
Kagome rolled over on the warm grass, shielding the sun from her eyes with her shojou manga. Switching the candy drop from one side of her cheek to the other, she sighed as the characters in the panels kissed passionately after their long separation. "Ne, Inuyasha?"
Curled beside her on the grass, Inuyasha was napping lightly in the warm sun. His ears flicked towards her as his eyes open at the sound of her bell like voice. "Hmm?"
She scooted closer to him and pointed to a panel of the book, "Can we try that?"
He stared at the book, "Wow, I don't think I can make my eyes that big." He rolled over on his stomach and tried anyway. Flinching, he blinked hard, his eyes watering.
Kagome laughed, "No, silly. The kissing part, I want to try that!"
"But I kissed you already."
"Not today."
"Oh, Okay!" He leaned over and quickly kissed her on the cheek, she tasted like sunlight and warm skin.
Kagome grinned, "That doesn't count! It has to last a long time, like this!" She leaned over and pressed her mouth to his, holding her breath. He watched her for a moment, then closed his eyes and copied her. Ten seconds passed.
Fifteen seconds passed…
Twenty seconds passed…
At thirty two seconds they both were turning blue in the cheeks. Kagome was the first to blow out the air in her bulging cheeks, her breath ruffling Inuyasha's thick hair. He quickly followed, laughing. "That's silly…I like our normal kisses better." His tongue darted out and licked away the last taste of Kagome's candy kiss.
Kagome blushed with silent pride that he though they had a set pattern for kissing.
The warmth was building in her stomach, when Kagome finally broke the kiss to breath. She looked shyly up at Inuyasha through her eyelashes, blushing. The hanyou looked down at her, breathing heavily, his eyes darkened by simple love. His tongue darted out to lap up the last traces of Kagome's kiss. His voice husky with emotion he mumbled, "You know I really do love you…" He gulped and watched as Kagome's face lit up with joy.
"I love you too…" She murmured, her hand tangling in his hair. Reaching up she stroked the soft fur of his ear. "I'm starting to remember more of the little things." She whispered, silently hoping to keep the close contact that was bringing the memories.
Inuyasha made a sound deep in his throat as she tickled his sensitive ears. Kagome wasn't the only one with warmth filling her body. He felt a warm blush paint his cheeks as her tiny hands twined in his hair, tickling his scalp and massaging his ears. Grinning, he reached out to her.
To her surprise and delight, his hands rolled up her body like a wave drawing her close as they tumbled to the ground. The leaves cushioned their fall, the wind quietly whispering to the God Tree above them.
Giggling the tiny pair fell to the ground in a curtain of white and black hair. Inuyasha pinned Kagome's hands. "Do you give up!?"
Shaking her head, laughing so hard tears fell from her eyes, Kagome said, "No, never!" She shook as Inuyasha tickled her, his hair falling around her face as he looked down at her. "Okay, okay! Stop! I give up!" She grinned up at him as he beamed in victory.
His eyes became suddenly serious… "Kagome, will you be my mate someday?"
"Huh?" She looked up confused. "What's a mate?"
Inuyasha's eyes crossed in concentration. "Um, It's what a mother is to a father."
Kagome clapped her hands together, "Oh! Like a wife?"
Inuyasha grinned and nodded, "Yeah, that's it! Will you be my wife?'
Golden eyes inches from her own, Kagome smiled at the memory as the wind blew Inuyasha's hair around her face. Her face flushed with heat as she felt Inuyasha's body slid on top of her own. Heart fluttering in her chest she fell silent as he kissed her again. It was almost desperate, as if he was trying to reclaim all of the time they had lost while they were apart. Kagome sighed as his hands roamed her body, making the heat rise up with the memories.
Inuyasha watched as the feelings swept across Kagome's pink face, swift as the wind that was ruffling their clothes. His heart ached, he felt safe again. Kagome's body felt so small under his own, as if she would break if he touched her in the wrong spot. Sighing as Kagome's pale arms encircled his shoulders, he nuzzled her neck. She smelled so right. He felt his body respond, nature calling to his instincts.
Trying not to gasp, Kagome felt all of Inuyasha pressed to her through their clothes. Mind still whirling from his proclamation of love and flooded with the sweet memories of their childhood, Kagome's heart swelled until she thought it would surely burst. He was so close and so warm…she pulled him closer to her and whispered.
"It's okay…stay with me for tonight." A small Kagome, clambered into her bed and held the covers back for the heart broken hanyou. She tried so hard to keep her dark eyes brave for his sake. He had lost so much…it was her who had to be strong for him now.
Fighting a fresh wash of tears, a small boy with snow white hair and drooping puppy ears, reached for his only friend. The tiny girl was his only stronghold left…his arms clung to her like the earth was falling away beneath him She would be the only pillar still standing after the end of the world. Sobbing as she held him, Inuyasha felt the warmth of the covers envelope him in a safe cocoon as Kagome's arms circled him. He fell asleep sniffling and trembling in her arms, their fingers intertwined.
Inuyasha searched Kagome's eyes…she nodded. Lacing his fingers through hers, he positioned himself. Kagome bit her lips nervously as Inuyasha tugged at her panties. They had lost so much when they had been separated…at that moment, Kagome wanted nothing more than to make up for all the time they had lost.
Inuyasha did away with Kagome's undergarments and leaned down to kiss her. Love and pride filling his heart he whispered into her mouth, "Thank you…I love you." Pressing his forehead to hers, he readied himself. The next instant Kagome was his…
Waking with a start, the small hanyou boy, huddled under the covers as thunder crashed and lightening lit the night. For an instant he thought he was alone. Then he felt warm fingers holding his hand. Blinking he saw Kagome curled up next to him, breathing deeply and dreaming. He still couldn't believe how beautiful she was…He scooted closer to her. His heart thudding in his chest, he reached with shaky arms and held her. She sighed, smiled in her sleep and snuggled against him. Suddenly all the thunder and lightening in the entire world couldn't scare him. He had found something precious, something he could protect and love. He smiled and fell back to sleep.
Kagome gasped as Inuyasha filled her. Struggling as the sensation threatened to engulf her, she felt him tenderly squeeze her hand. She opened her eyes and found the sweet face of her true love watching her. His gold eyes were filled with peace and happiness. She still couldn't believe how handsome he was…her heart thudding in her chest, she reached with shaky arms and held him.
As she relaxed around him, Inuyasha slowly eased in and out of her. Each tiny movement elicited a gasp from the girl below him. His strong back arched as she ran her nails up and down his shoulders, silently urging him to go faster. Within seconds they had fallen into the rhythm that was as old as time itself. Ebb and flow. One yielding to the other, each trying to accentuate the other's movements. Lips parting from the sensation, Inuyasha watched as the moonlight dappled Kagome's face.
Something was building deep within her…it was like the sky slowly pushing down on her, dark, strong and all encompassing. It didn't hurt anymore…there was only the feelings…and love.
Before he knew what had happened, Inuyasha was awe struck by the sensation. The warmth had enveloped him completely. A deep, throaty moan leaked from his mouth, reverberating against her throat. There had never been anything close to what he was feeling now. His whole body was burning into ashes.
Kagome sighed, feelings flowing over her like a strange metallic light that soaked into her veins. In a span of time that took years to start and only an instant to finish, Kagome found her own small piece of heaven and brought it back to earth with her. Inuyasha was warm as he collapsed on top of her, spent. He rolled slowly away from her, spooning his body around hers. "Inuyasha, what are you doing?"
His eyes fluttered shut as he smiled, "I'm remembering how I held you…"
Ten years ago, a broken little hanyou was healed by a little girl named Kagome. As they parted ways at the well, the little boy had whispered to the girl that he would always love her, no matter what came between them. Kagome had listened, wide eyed with wonder and love. Nodding, she promised to never forget him or the promises they had made to each other…ten years after that they both kept their promises…and made one new one…
The End.
