Chapter 12

Heavy Thinking

It took the gang two days to get to Kaede's village but they made it. They were all tired and there were some injuries. Kagome still had a broken wrist. Her miko powers wouldn't heal the bone. She was still tired from the fight. She had used all her miko powers in one night.

Inuyasha's injuries were healed already. Kagome had healed everyone else. Well enough to not feel too much pain.

Sango was talking to Kohaku. She had been near him since they left Naraku's castle. Everyone was glad to see Sango had some family left. Everyone reassured him that whatever he did while he was under Naraku's control was not his fault. They didn't want to make him feel bad.

They walked into Kaede's hut and she greeted them. "How was your trip?" She asked.

Miroku told Kaede of what happened. Everyone wanted to hear it again. It would never be said enough. Naraku was dead. He wouldn't be able to kill or corrupt innocent people again.

"What took you so long to get back then?" Kaede asked. They should have made it back at around sunset yesterday.

"Kagome had to take a three hour bath at a hot spring we passed. She saw it from up in the sky and nearly jumped off Kirara to get to it." Inuyasha said.

"I did not jump." Kagome said. A light blush was on her cheeks.

"You did too. I had to jump off Kirara to catch you so you wouldn't hurt yourself." Inuyasha growled.

"Why were you so desperate to take a bath Kagome and why were you in there for so long?" Kaede asked.

"Well I couldn't stomach the feeling of Naraku touching me. I wanted to wash off." Kagome said and looked at her wrist. She needed to bandage it. "I'm going to the river to bandage my wrist."

She grabbed the first aid kit and walked to the river. Inuyasha was going to go with her but was stopped by Sango. "She looked like she wanted to be alone. Give her a few minutes."

Inuyasha looked at the path to the river and sat back down. Kagome looked sad or sick. He couldn't tell she was trying to hide her emotions. Something didn't smell right with her. He'd been preoccupied so he didn't really think anything of it. Now it was starting to bother him. Was she sick?

No one noticed Shippo had snuck out to find Kagome. He didn't want to be away from her. The look on her face before she left bothered him. He ran to the river and saw Kagome bent over some bushes.

"Okaa-san are you ok?" Shippo asked.

Kagome looked up startled to find Shippo there. "Hai, I'm fine." She said in a weak voice.

"Are you sick?" He asked. He knew she threw up he wasn't stupid.

"I don't know. I felt fine walking down here." She sat down and took the old bandages off her wrist. Then she started wrapping it with some new bandages.

"Lets go back to the hut." Kagome said.

"Hai." Shippo jumped on her shoulder and they headed toward the hut.

They walked in and sat back down. "Shippo when did you leave?" Sango asked.

"After Okaa-san did." He said. "Kohaku do you want to go play?"

He looked at Sango and she nodded. "Hai." They both ran outside. Shippo seemed a little happier now that he had someone new to play with.

"Gomen I won't be able to cook dinner tonight I must go see a villager. She has been sick for days now and I need to bring her some herbs." Kaede said.

"That's ok Kaede-sama I still have some ramen left." Kagome said. Kaede nodded and left the hut.

Inuyasha watched as Kagome got the ramen cups out of her bag. He took a sniff and he could still smell that scent on her. It was hers but different. He couldn't think of what it was. Then it dawned on him. His eyes widened.

"Inuyasha did you hear me?" Kagome asked him. Inuyasha shook his head. "I asked if you could go with Miroku to get some wood and water."

He nodded and got up to follow Miroku. Kagome watched him walk out. `What was that all about?' She wondered. She looked at Sango who was about to sip some tea and smiled.

"So Sango, what was that kiss all about the other day hn?" Kagome asked.

Sango spit out her tea. She hadn't expected her to remember that let alone ask her about it. "I don't know what you're talking about." She said trying to hide it. She wasn't doing a very good job because she was blushing.

"You do know what I'm talking about. We were all there to see it. You didn't even hit him." Kagome said.

"I don't know he just did it. It felt right so I didn't stop him." Sango said.

"Didn't stop what?" Miroku asked. He and Inuyasha walked in with some wood and water. Kagome took the wood from him and threw it in the fire pit.

"Nothing, it's nothing right Kagome-chan?" She said quickly.

"Sure it was nothing." Kagome said.

Miroku looked at them both then to Inuyasha. He was going to ask him if he had heard what they were talking about but he seemed to be thinking. He had a distant look in his eyes.

Kohaku and Shippo walked in the hut to eat. After everyone was done. Inuyasha went to the Goshinboku to think while Sango and Kagome took a bath. Kohaku and Shippo went outside to play. Miroku needed to think so he followed Inuyasha.

Miroku sat at the foot of the tree and leaned against it. His wind tunnel was gone now. He had kissed Sango. He hadn't realized he'd done it until after he did it. It seemed natural to kiss her like he did it all the time.

She hadn't pushed him away either. So did that mean she enjoyed the kiss? Or was she too shocked to do anything? He didn't know. He knew what he wanted to do he just didn't know how to do it.

"Oi."

"Hai." Miroku said. He had forgotten Inuyasha was sitting up in the tree.

"What's wrong with you?" Inuyasha asked. He jumped down to his level.

"What do you mean?"

"You had all these weird looks on your face."

"Oh it was nothing I'm just trying to think of what to do."

"Oh."

"Inuyasha what if I was to propose to Sango? Do you think she'd except?" Miroku asked.

Inuyasha looked at him. He never thought he would ask him something like that. "I don't know. Who knows what goes on in that woman's head? Why don't you ask her and find out?"

"I guess I should."

"Why do you want to propose anyway? Do you need an heir that bad? I thought you wouldn't need one so badly since your wind tunnel is gone."

"No it's not that I need an heir. It's just that I love her." He said.

"Go tell her then. Telling me won't do you any good." Inuyasha said.

"I guess you're right. Arigato Inuyasha."

"Of course I'm right." He said.

"What is bothering you?" Miroku asked.

"What do you mean nothings bothering me?" He lied.

"I saw you earlier it looked like something was bothering you."

"Kagome's pregnant." He said.

"That's great." His face lit up. Then he frowned. "She doesn't know does she?"

Inuyasha shook his head. "I just realized it today. She had been smelling a bit `off' lately." He didn't know how to explain it.

"You're afraid of her reaction right?"

Inuyasha nodded. That was what he'd been thinking about. How was he going to tell her she was pregnant? How would she react when she found out? Sure she loved him and he loved her but was she ready to have a child? His child?

"How do you feel about it?" Miroku asked.

"I'm happy about it." He said. "I just don't know if she's ready to have children yet. I think in her time she's considered too young."

"I'm sure she's ready. Look how she treats Shippo."

"You're right."

"Of course I am. Lets go tell the girls what we want." Miroku said.

They both stood up but then sat back down. "Not ready yet?" They both asked at the same time. They both laughed. They sat there thinking of how they would tell the girls the things they needed to know.

"I wonder where the guys are?" Kagome asked. They had just gotten back from their bath to find them gone.

"I don't know." Sango said. They both sat down.

"So Sango, we never finished our little chat earlier." She smiled. She watched as Sango blushed. "So what do you think of Miroku then?"

"I think he's a hentai." She said.

"Don't tell me that's the only thing. He's a good guy once you get past his lechery."

"I guess so. I don't know what I think of him." She said.

Kagome looked at her. She felt kind of bad for bringing it up. She was going to say something when Inuyasha and Miroku walked in. They both looked up at them.

"Kagome we need to talk." Inuyasha said. Kagome looked at him questioningly but nodded.

"We'll talk later ok Sango." She smiled at her. Inuyasha picked her up and leapt off into the forest. "Where are we going Inuyasha?" She asked.

Miroku sat down. He looked at Sango. She was looking at the fire. Her face was a little red. `What were they talking about?' he thought.

"Sango I need to ask you something."

Sango looked up from the fire and into his eyes.
