All right I'm back with and eight stapled to my forehead but that's ok… It hurts like hell but it's ok. So I'll start the next chapter already…

Chapter Two:

Kyoko woke up at dawn the next morning to see Ren sitting by the fire putting two fish on sticks and placing them in the ground so that they hung over the fire. She sat up feeling a dull throb in her side and winced slightly.
Ren looked over towards her and stood up walking in her direction. He had an emotionless look on his face that gave away nothing. He squatted and pushed her down.

“Could you stop pushing me already!” She snapped and frowned at herself. “Sorry…”

He nodded and pulled a roll of cloth out of his sleeve; Kyoko realized it was like the bandage on her side. “Roll onto your side.” He said.
Kyoko did as told and felt him lift her shirt and unwrap the bandage. She felt his fingers brush against her side and shivered. He sighed, slipping the bandage back into his sleeve.
He pulled her shirt back down and sighed once again. “You may leave when you like. You wound is gone.”

Kyoko sat up and looked down at her side to see a very large bruise. “Ouch…” She said. “What did I land on?”

“A branch.” He said glancing at her.

She blushed and looked down at her hands. “Wow, that's embarrassing and pathetic…” She shook her head at her self and stood up. “Um…thank you for helping me…”

Ren just looked at her; there was a cracking sound behind of her that caused her to jump and turn around quickly. Out of the bushes came a little green imp.

“Ah, Master Ren, I finally found you!” It said happily.

“What do you want Jaken?” He said with a slightly annoyed tone.

“Your mother and Father sent me to retrieve you…” It looked at Kyoko and scowled. “Why are you here with this human wench! What have I told you about `taking' humans!”

“Jaken, shut up, I did not `take' this human, I have never `taken' a human and I never will `take' a human.” He said. “Humans are disgusting creatures. They should not even be alive.”

“Hello, human standing right here…” Kyoko said. “I really don't appreciate what you are saying.”

“Shut up wench!” Jaken said earning a most cynical glare from her.

She walked calmly over to him and bent over slightly, grabbing by the collar of his shirt and lifted him up. “My name is Kyoko, not wench! If you call me anything but my name then I will beat the living hell out of you!” Her eyes began to burn slightly as she realized he had spit in her face. She used her free arm to wipe the spit away then glare at him once more tightening her grip on him as the feeling of pure rage began to move through her. Her hands began to glow bright red and she was thrown across the clearing.

Jaken hit the ground and looked up to see Ren standing next to him but looking in the direction of the girl. She was laying on the ground and her breathing shallow. “Ha!' Jaken said. “Take that stupid wench.”

“Jaken,” Ren growled. “Shut up.” He walked over to Kyoko and squatted down. Studying her intently and lifting her shirt to look at the bruise that was barely visible, “Humph…”

There was another cracking sound from the bushes as a white haired, golden eyed demon with dog ears on top of his head wearing all red jumped out of them and tried to tackle him.

“Well, well, well. InuYasha, what are you doing here.” Ren said almost to calmly.

“Where is the girl Ren?” He said angrily. “I know you have her! And you better not have hurt her!”

“Dear uncle, what makes you think I have her…” He said while thinking. `idiot she's laying on the ground behind of me…'

“I smell her all over this clearing. Now give her here or face the wrath of my Tutsusaiga…” He said unsheathing the blade as it transformed into the fang. “Now I ask you again, where is the girl?”

“You are an idiot InuYasha. You call yourself a demon but you do not even notice the girl is laying on the ground behind of me.” He turned around and looked down at the ground. Kyoko wasn't there. She had managed to elude his senses and run into the woods when he wasn't paying attention.

“Now who is the idiot?” InuYasha smirked and ran into the woods behind of him.

Ren shook his head and sat back down next to the fire as once again there was a rustling sound, only this one was coming from the trees. He narrowed his eyes and drew the sword from his waist.

Kyoko sighed standing from her spot in the tree she had climbed into when no body was paying attention and jumped from the tree expecting to land on all fours. Before she even neared the ground she found herself pinned to the tree with a blade pressed against her throat and a pair of cold blue eyes staring at her. Her eyes flashed red for only a moment, to quickly for anyone to really notice.

Ren saw this, pressed the blade closer to her neck and growled in her ear. “What are you?”

“What do you mean what am I?” She gasp. “I am a human to my knowledge…if you know something I don't then by all means do tell.” She felt the pressure on her neck increase. “What? What did I say?”

“Do not lie to me girl! What are you?”

“I don't know! I don't have a reason to lie to you! I don't even know you! So you can believe me or you can't, I am not the one who is going to make that decision not am I!” Kyoko gasp as the blade cut into her flesh just enough to draw a small line of blood. “Don't do that…”

“And why not? I plan to kill you slowly if you do not tell me what you are.” He growled once again and inhaled deeply taking in her scent of lavender and rose oil, and something that he couldn't quite put his finger on. He chose to ignore it and kept the blade pressed against her. “Why should I not cut you?”

Kyoko blushed and closed her eyes trying to escape his intense gaze. “Please, just don't…It's embarrassing…and something I don't want to explain to someone I don't know…”

He rolled his eyes and let her drop to the ground as she sheathed his sword and landed in front of her. “You do not know what you are.”

“I already said no… When I turned seventeen weird things started happening, like my eyes would turn red and I would go to sleep and wake up with my hair twice as long as it was before then it just suddenly go away…my uncle of course blamed it on my father and mother both refusing to cut their hair, but he was only kidding.” Kyoko stood up and shook her head. “I somehow get the feeling he planned for all of this to happen…”

“Hm…” Was all Ren said.

“I guess I'm just going to go now…Thank you for helping me.” She scratched her neck where he cut her and was tempted to moan as her fingernails dug into it. “Ja-mata,”(an/: Ja-mata is the same thing as Ja-ne (see ya))

“Girl…” Ren said watching her walk away. “You will not leave with out a weapon, you will be killed before you even leave the territories.”

“Well what do you propose that I do, I know you do not want to protect me and I am certainly not just going to stay in this one spot, that's probably more dangerous than walking around.” Kyoko crossed her arms and looked at him with narrowed eyes.

“It is true that I will not protect you, you are obviously capable of protecting yourself.” He said.

Kyoko rolled her eyes. “So if I can so obviously protect myself, then I can just leave and will not be killed before I leave the territories. What would difference be if I was with you than if I wasn't, if I am going to protect myself it would be the same as me being alone.”

“Not necessarily, if you are with me then there will be less demons but more powerful ones who will be after me not you. Therefore I will be protecting myself, not you.” He had a mischievous air about him that insured trouble; to Kyoko it seemed a little to out of character.

“A technicality?” She asked raising an eyebrow.

Jaken who had been watching them sense Kyoko jumped out of the tree decided to finally speak. “Master Ren, your father will be cross if you are late arriving home. Bring the wench with you if it is necessary, so we can be on time!”

Kyoko glared at him angrily. “My name is Kyoko, is it so hard to remember!”

“I will call you what ever I please…”

“Jaken, you will addresser by her name and nothing else.” Ren said finally standing with two fish in hand. He handed one to Kyoko and began to eat the other on himself. He glanced over to see her just looking at it and rolled his eyes. “You're supposed to eat it…”

“I know that!” She snapped. “I just don't like fish that much…Oh well…” She said forcing herself to eat it to make the hunger pain in her stomach stop. She made a face at it and sighed as she had finished it quickly.

InuYasha growled as he ran farther and father into the wood until he eventually lost Kyokos' scent. “DAMN IT!” He yelled. “THAT LITTLE BITCH AND THE BASTARD WHO TOOK HER! THEY ARE BOTH GOING TO PAY FOR SENDING ME ON A WILD GOOSE CHASE!” He turned around and began to run back in the direction from which he came, sniffing the air every once in a while to see if Kyokos' scent was becoming stronger. `That bitch!' he thought, `She's going to pay for this!' Red began to bleed into his eyes and he grinned maliciously.

Ren had begun to walk out of the clearing with Jaken at his heels when he heard her breath catch. He turned to look at her and saw a horrified look on her face. He rolled his eyes again. “Come on, we don't have all day to stand around in this clearing and wait for that half breed mutt to figure out you simply eluded his senses.”

Kyoko nodded and brushed off the bad feeling that she had and began to follow him. She found the forest they walked through was beautiful and lush. Birds chirped loudly in the trees and the wind blew the leaves causing a rustling sound all around them. She had not been paying attention and ran into Rens' back, hitting her head hard against his armor and falling on her butt.
“Sorry `bout that…” She mumbled rubbing her forehead and standing once more.

“Hm…InuYasha is following…” He said and looked at her then at the lake ahead of them. “Go and wash yourself…”

“What, why?” She asked.

“Master Ren,” Jaken said quickly. “I am going ahead to inform your parents that you are on your way back, I expect you would like me to prepare a room for, Kyoko…”

“Yes, do, make it a room next to mine, knowing some of the males that come and go, I do not trust what they may do to an unmated female.” He said; Jaken nodded and disappeared. “Now, go and wash yourself, my idiot uncle probably only recognizes the scent of your blood.”

“Oh…” She walked over to the water and noticed him still watching her. “Turn around!” She snapped as she began to open the front of her shirt and for the first time noticed she wasn't wearing the priestess garb Kikyo had given her, she was wearing an outfit similar to the one Ren was wearing. She blushed bright red shrugging off the top trying hard to ignore the fact the he was still watching her. She shivered rubbing her arms and reaching down to remove the pants. She sighed and slipped into the water, she tilted her head back to wet her hair, rubbed the dirt off of her hands, and rubbed her side where the wound had been. “Ren?” She asked turning around to see him still watching her. “Ok…You don't have to stare…”

“Your arms,” He said cutting her off. “The markings on your arms are very elaborate…”

She looked down at her arms realizing he was talking about her sleeve tattoos. “My tattoos?” She said. “My grandmother let me get them when I turned sixteen… So I've had them almost a year now…It didn't hurt like people told me it would…It felt different but it didn't hurt.”

“Hm…” He nodded and inhaled deeply. “I believe you are clean enough now come, my idiot uncle is near.”

Kyoko nodded and got out quickly, slipping the clothing back on and walking over to Ren. She stopped and suddenly became pissed. “Damn it, I think I lost my mothers journal again!”

“You mean this?” Ren reached into his sleeve and pulled out the small leather book. “You should learn not to leave you things laying around. They could get lost… I believe I will hold on to it until we get to where we are going, only then may you have it back.” He slipped it back into his sleeve and grabbed Kyoko by her waist.

“Hey! Wait a second!” She said and glared at him. “I am perfectly capable of taking care of my own belongings!”

“I'm sure… That's why you dropped the book and didn't even realize it.” He said in a board and yet sarcastic tone. “Now, hold on tight or I will drop you…”

“What? What do you…Ahh!” She clung to him tightly as they were lifted off the ground and began to move at an amazingly fast speed. “Holy hell!”

Ren glanced down at her and rolled his eyes once more as he pressed her closer to his side. `This girl, is a pain…it is fun to tease her though…'

InuYasha growled as once again he lost the scent of the girl Kikyo had ordered him to follow. It was odd to him though. Why would his brothers son be helping a human, the only humans he ever remembered Ren, Sesshomaru and Tazoka being nice to were Kagome and Rin, and to his knowledge they were both dead; Rin was killed from a deadly virus that had started spreading, and Kagome by his own claws.
He smiled wickedly as he thought of the face her mate had made when he learned she would not be coming back. The man's bright red eyes had darkened and tears began to come forth…He was never seen after the day that Kagome died he had disappeared like Naraku did when ever he was wounded.
InuYasha then frowned as he remembered how the Shikon jewel had disappeared after Kagome had put it back together. She was turned into a demon and everyone had become happy except him He didn't understand it! All he wanted was to be with Kagome, but every time he tried to get near her, every time he would kiss her she would tell him to stop and that she didn't love him like that, that he was like her brother.

“THAT BITCH!” InuYasha yelled slamming his fist against a tree. “Every time I thought we could be happy she pushed me away!”

“InuYasha,” Came the silky smooth voice of Kikyo as her soul collectors lowered her to the ground next to him. “Come InuYasha, let us go and see Sango and Miroku, They will take you mind off of my reincarnation…” InuYasha nodded and followed her still angry from the memories that seemed to appear out of nowhere.

Kyoko had long sense fell asleep against Rens' side. He smirked to himself and did his best to stare straight ahead of them. He never was as good at hiding what he was feeling as his father was. In fact compared to his father he was a boiling pot of emotion, where his father was the king of ice. Ren often did wonder how his mother kept calm when his father was being an ass and the smug attitude he would sometimes have didn't help.
“Humph,” He looked down at the girl. She didn't know what she was…Hell, he didn't know what she was. She looked like a human in everyway but her eyes would flash red and she said that her hair would grow at an irregular speed. Not only that she looked slightly familiar but he couldn't put his clawed finger on it. `My mind must be playing tricks on me…' he thought.

Kyoko sighed and tried to shift into a more comfortable position. “You knew…” She mumbled. “My mother…was…”

Ren frowned. `What could she be dreaming about?' He thought to himself. `Her mother obviously…but…' She stirred against him once more, slowly opening her eyes and yawning. “Sleep well?”

She sighed and nodded. “Are we there yet?”

“Almost…there is a castle in the distance. Can you see it?” He asked and felt Kyoko nod once more. “That is where we are going.”

“It's lovely…” She yawned again. “Reminds me of the shrine that I live at…”

“You lived at a shrine; that is unusual.” Ren said and began a slow descend towards the castle.

Kyoko got a confused look on her face. “How did we get here that fast…we were…you know, I'm just no going to ask….”

“Ah! Master Ren!” There was a shrilled cry as they touched down to the ground. “Your back!” And a woman tackled him to the ground and in doing so knocked Kyoko down also.

Kyoko growled to herself and stood. She noticed the leather book that was her mothers lying on the ground and growled even more as she went to retrieve it.

“Master Ren,” The woman said as he stood and shoved her off. “Who is that human woman, why is she with you? Is she wearing your clothes?”

“Her name is Kyoko, I found her half dead and she is wearing my clothes.” He said brushing dirt off of himself. “Kyoko, come… You are going to meet my father.”

“Your father is not going to want to meet some human wench! He has enough on his hands already, she'll be lucky if he lets her live.” She snatched the book from Kyokos' hands causing a look of pure hate to cross quickly over her face. “Human, you have no right to carry books with you. You look like a peasant.”

“Give me back the book, now…” She said quietly. “Because I swear, if you do not give it back or if you mess it up in anyway… I will kill you…”

“Bow to me.” The woman said. “Bow to me or I will shred this book!”

“I will not bow to you! And you will not do anything to that book!”

“Hm… let's see, which page should I rip out first…” She said flipping through the book. “I see it is a journal so, I'm going to start with this one… page forty-seven. Oh, it even has a title, Akihito…My ruby eyed lover… What a sweet title.” She took the edge of the page in her hand and tugged it gently.

“Don't do it!” Kyoko growled, her eyes flashing red.

“Why not!”

“Yui!” Ren said with an annoyed tone. “Give her back the book, when you are here you are of a lower rank than a guest and Kyoko is my guest. You will call her by her name and you will not make any attempts to rid her of the castle. Now, give her back the book. I don't think her mother would appreciate you tarring up her journal before her daughter got to read it.”

Yui glared and shoved the book into Kyokos' hands as she walked away. “Bitch…” She muttered.

“Let us go and introduce you to my father… I am sure he will be, in his own unnoticeable way, ecstatic to meet you.” He said and grabbed her by her wrist, dragging her into the castle.

“Hey!” She said angrily trying to get her arm free. “I can walk on my own, no need to drag me…”

“Then walk fast…” He said letting go of her wrist and walking quickly around a different hallway.

“Sesshomaru, your son is on his way…” A female voice said from the doorway. She walked in slowly, Her long white hair and black stripes were much like Sesshomarus', Her eyes were bright blue and she was short compared to him.

“Tazoka, he is half yours.” He said looking up from his work. “ But, when shall he arrive?”

“Any moment…” She said walking over to him and smiling sweetly, as if on cue the doors to the study opened.

Ren came in quietly sporting a look of indifference upon his face as the small girl who was with him was slightly fidgeting. “Don't fidget…” He said quietly and looked at his parents. “Mother, father.” He said.

“Hello Ren how was your time away from home!” Tazoka said happily and looked at the girl. “And what is your name, little girl?”

“Kyoko,” She said raising an eyebrow at the little girl comment.

“Well, how was your trip here, Kyoko?” Tazoka continued to smile. “By the looks of it, it was rough.”

“Before the trip was rough, I was asleep most of the way here.” Kyoko said and smiled back.

“Oh, Ren didn't give you any problems did he?” The woman cocked her head to the side and backed Kyoko into a wall.

Sesshomaru and Ren watched with amused glances at the girls' obvious discomfort.

“No, no, Ren was no trouble… It was…”

“InuYasha was after her.” Ren said cutting her off.

“Human,” Sesshomaru said looking at her coldly. “What could have made my brother come after you?”

She ducked under Tazokas' arm and glared at him. “My name is Kyoko!” She snapped. “And I don't know why the idiot was after me; that Kikyo woman he was with probably commanded him to do it!”

“Do not raise your voice to me wench!” He said with annoyance in his voice. “You will show me the proper respect!”

Kyoko narrowed her eyes at him and crossed her arms. “I will show you respect when you use my name!”

“WENCH…”

“KYOKO!” She corrected. “KYOKO HIGURASHI! NOT WENCH, NOT HUMAN AND NOT GIRL, WOMAN OR BITCH!”

Sesshomaru towered over her. “Wrong move wench!” His voice was deathly quiet and he raised a clawed hand.

“Sesshomaru!” Tazoka said angrily. “Be nice! Now, Kyoko Higurashi, you said was your name, are you in relation to Kagome Higurashi?”

“Yes, she was my mother, why?” Kyoko said confused. “How do you know my mother? She died a week after I was born…”

“I am Tazoka and that block of ice that wants to kill you right now is my mate, Sesshomaru. We fought with your mother against Naraku.”

“Oh…” Kyoko looked down at the journal in her hands and frowned. “Really,”

“Hm, your mood swings are as bad as your mothers…” Tazoka said smiling. “She could be happy, sad, and angry in less than five minutes.”

“Mate, do not get a head of yourself. There is no proof that this girl is the daughter of the Kagome that we knew.” Sesshomaru said in a board tone.

“Is this proof enough…” Kyoko held up the journal. “It's all I have of her… I haven't read much of it…But…” She handed the journal to Tazoka who began to flip through it.

She walked over to her mate and began to speak quietly. “Look at this…It is Kagomes' hand writing and it has her scent all over it.”

“The girl could have easily stolen it off of her…” Sesshomaru glanced up into the slightly annoyed eyes of the girl and his board looking son. “Ren,” He said suddenly. “Show the girl to a room near your chambers. You will be in charge of her. Make sure she bathes and is dressed properly.”

“Yes father.” Ren said. “Shall we go then?” He said turning to Kyoko.

“When will I get my mothers journal back?” She asked.

“Oh, don't worry dear, you'll get it back in a day or so.” Tazoka said not once looking up from the page they were on.

She nodded and followed Ren out of the room.
