InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Revelations ❯ News ( Chapter 2 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

It was a nice day, and although InuYasha had been away from the group for only two weeks he was actually feeling in a good mood, for the first time since he could truly remember he felt carefree and was not afraid to show, he'd been travelling on his own wondering what to do with his life now, trying to decided whether he should truly still go after Naraku or just let him go, he didn't even notice when he left the shade of the forest and arrived in an open field that surrounded a village which was decimated, InuYasha could still smell the scent of the remaining villagers but it was mixed with desperation. InuYasha was about to turn his back to the village when he saw a young boy and his mother walking and he could barely hear what they were saying even with his superior hearing, but what they talked about hurt him slightly, the young boy was crying for food and the mother was trying desperately to placate the child although it wasn't working, with a sigh InuYasha cursed his human side and went into the forest, a couple of hours later he re-emerged, carrying his fire rat haori like a sac, for in it were about 30 rabbits which he had hunted down, taking a deep breath to calm and prepare himself for the rejection and words of hatred he knew he would receive InuYasha started to walk to the village, when he finally approached the village already the women and children ran into the homes, which were still standing and provided shelter while the men ran out brandishing weapons and threaten to do bodily harm should he not leave their village, calmly and slowly InuYasha held up his free arm and claimed to wish them no harm he just wanted to talk to the head of the village, hearing this the men relaxed a little bit but where still on edge, after standing like this for what seemed like hours although it was only minutes the head villager appeared saying “what do you want with us demon?” it was said so harshly that InuYasha almost responded with an insult but refrained knowing that would do no good, once again taking a deep breath he replied “I just want to know what happened to your village” the head of the village looking at InuYasha even more suspiciously than he was before said “we were attacked by bandits, most of us were able to escape but as you can see they burned everything down and took all of our animals, we are trying to rebuild but as you can see everything is moving slowly”. InuYasha bent down and opened up his fire rat haori revealing all of the rabbits that he had hunted down, then standing up he said “this is all for you, I expect nor want nothing in return” the head of the village and all of the men looked surprised, it took a couple of minutes before the head could even say anything and when he did his tone had changed “why do you do this?”, “because I can't stand seeing little children starve” then with a slight frown he said “if you all want I can help you rebuild your village”.

One week later

InuYasha was lazing in a tree just outside of the almost restored village, because he was helping them the villagers had taken a liking to him and many of them although still a little fearful of him, treated him with respect, they had gone so far as to invite him to stay in their village, something InuYasha had still not decided on how he was going to tell them that he would not be staying for long. InuYasha was staying at the home of Yoshi, the head of the village, and was often asked his own thoughts on matters concerning the village, although he always refused saying that it was not his place to say anything at all about. In just a couple of days InuYasha had built most of the houses that were needed for the village while the men and women fixed their rice fields or occasionally hunted for food, InuYasha worked well into the night and had not gotten much sleep but this afternoon he had finished all of his work at long last and had gone into the forest to lounge in a tree, he had only been there for a couple of minutes when he smelt a demon, launching of the tree branch he was resting on InuYasha raced to the village, and the sight that met him there was one of a child been held up by a large demon bear about to be eaten, knowing that he couldn't waste much time at all InuYasha lunged at the bear demon separating the arm that held the child from the demon, catching the child without effort, InuYasha crouched down away from the demon and let the child run to the other villagers who were watching from afar, now directing his full attention at the demon before him, he let a cruel smirk show before attacking and yelling out iron reaver soul stealer, the demon was laid to waste in many pieces while the villagers congratulated InuYasha and seemed to now look at him as their savior.

Two weeks later

For the five weeks that the gang had been waiting at Kaede's village in Mushai County, they had yet to even hear word about InuYasha, until that afternoon, when a man came from the west to sell goods to the village they were staying at, not only did the man bring goods but he also brought news of what was happening so far in the west and that news also held some information about InuYasha, now their little group was preparing for a journey to the west to find InuYasha and get some explanation as to why he left them.

The gang had been waiting patiently for five weeks for InuYasha to return but it seemed like he wasn't coming back, Sango and Shippou had constantly commented on how foolish InuYasha was and what was taking him so long to just get over what ever had managed to piss him off and come back while Kagome had been moping all over the place and occasionally crying, she had one day voiced her opinion that InuYasha had gone to hell with Kikyo which had once again set Sango and Shippou off on how rude, inconsiderate and stupid InuYasha was, it had been he who had gotten rid of that idea because if Kikyo was gone then Kagome would have gotten the rest of her soul back, but that just brought other questions to where InuYasha could be to mind. Now everyone so far had been on InuYasha's case except him because he had an inkling of what may have driven the inu hanyou away from their little group, he sort of suspected that InuYasha had finally had enough of them, they had never really treated InuYasha as part of the group and he was always subject to ridicule from them, whenever a fight occurred with Kagome it was InuYasha whom they would blame although the two of them were usually the cause of the problem, and lets not forget Kagomes treatment of InuYasha with the subduing necklace, she constantly treated him more like an animal than another rational being, especially when she didn't get her way, most of them of course had never thought much about their treatment of InuYasha because they thought InuYasha didn't mind but now that he thought that InuYasha did mind he felt like one of the lowest scumbags that ever walked the earth, how could he even call InuYasha his friend when he treated him like that and after all the time InuYasha had saved their lives too by risking his own life. The only reason he had yet to tell anyone the reason he believed that InuYasha left was because of how it might affect them, if they even felt a little bit of the remorse that he felt at the moment, it would definitely be disastrous. But now that they had the chance to at least say sorry and maybe gain InuYashas forgiveness they might be able to put things right again.

It was in the middle of the night and some of the villagers had offered to stand guard over the village and raise an alarm if need be, when a they saw a being approaching their village, his silver hair shone as a contrast to the darkness and they believed that it was their hanyou protector coming back to the village after a long day, what they did not know though was that InuYasha was already in the village, suddenly they heard a growl from behind them and jumped slightly when they saw that InuYasha was behind them, letting his anger plainly show on his features, opening his mouth and letting his fangs show he snarled out “Sesshomaru”.
