Chapter 32 Ready

Inuyasha awoke with Kagome still slumbering peacefully in his arms. He nuzzled her neck lightly to wake her. She slowly stirred, rolling over and cuddled into Inuyasha’s chest in protest of getting up. Inuyasha laughed as he hugged her tight.

“You do have to get up eventually you know.” He said teasingly. Kagome groaned as she tried to cuddle deeper into his hug.

“Yeah but not right now.” She mumbled. “Five more hours.” Inuyasha smiled as he pulled her up to eye level. His lips kissed hers at his last attempt to get her out of bed. Kagome wrapped her arms around his neck as his tongue asked entrance to her mouth. She gladly invited him in. When they parted finally, Kagome smiled.

“What a wake-up call!” She said with a sarcastic enthusiasm. Inuyasha laughed as kissed her cheek before hopping out of bed and heading for the bathroom.

Kagome sighed as he disappeared behind the bathroom door. She sat up and stretched her arms over her head. She placed her hands lightly on her stomach, rubbing the small bump below them.

A smile graced on her lips. She couldn't believe a little being was growing inside her. Her child. Her child with Inuyasha. Kagome's heart swelled with pride and love at the thought of having a baby with her mate. She lifted one hand from her belly and replaced it on the mark on her shoulder. A warm tingling sensation sent chills down her spine. A small crash caught her attention coming from the bathroom.

Panic struck her when she realized Inuyasha was the one in the bathroom. Kagome quickly jumped up and rushed to the bathroom door, pushing it open as soon as she reached it. She saw Inuyasha half naked hunched over the sink.

"Inuyasha! Are you alright? I heard a crash!" Kagome questioned as she hurried to his side. She placed a hand on his arm and bent down to try to look in his face. She was shocked when Inuyasha spun around and pulled her into a hard kiss.

Inuyasha leaned back on the sink counter and allowed Kagome's body to relax against his. He kissed her hard with the wave of passion that suddenly hit him. Kagome relaxed and wrapped her arms around his neck. He broke free from her swelling lips and licked a trail down her jaw line.

"Inuyasha." Kagome breathed.

Inuyasha carried Kagome bridal style to the tub across the bathroom. He turned on some hot water and sat on the edge of the tub while Kagome rested in his lap. Kagome, with her arms still wrapped around Inuyasha’s neck, looked up into his golden eyes. She smiled sweetly up at him. He smiled back at her, placing a hand delicately on her growing belly. He proceeded to lean down and kiss her again. He couldn’t subdue the overwhelming feelings of love and pride in his soon-to-be family. He slowly slid his hand behind Kagome’s back and pulled her closer than she already was.

There was a calming and relaxing steam filling the bathroom as the hot water flowed into the tub. Inuyasha stopped the fosset. Standing, he stepped in the water with Kagome in tow. He sat her slowly into the water onto his lap.

“Ahhh! This is the life!” Kagome cooed as she relaxed against Inuyasha’s chest and stomach. He wrapped his muscular arms around her and she smiled. Her life couldn’t be any more perfect.

Not even 6 months ago, she felt like she was a zombie walking around this world as she grieved the loss of her parents. She wished they were still here, but then she may have never started seeing Inuyasha like this. He saved her from her own misery and gave her a life full of happiness and love.

She leaned her head back and Inuyasha kissed her hair, burying his nose in it. She could never give him as much love as she felt he deserved. But man would she try!

Inuyasha took in her sweet scent and couldn’t dream of his life without Kagome in it. She was his whole world. And now, she was bearing his child. His love for her was limitless and he swore to give his unborn baby that same affection.

He placed his hand delicately on her stomach and could feel a faint heartbeat. A smile crossed his features. Kagome laid a small hand over his and turned her head to look at him. They both grinned at one another as they shared the moment.

After soaking in the bath, Kagome started to feel like a prune. Inuyasha just sat with his hands behind his head, refusing to clean himself. So she washed herself and then Inuyasha, who was grinning at her the whole time. Kagome rolled her eyes and carefully stepped out of the tub. She dried her skin with a towel then handed one to her staring mate.

He stood and shook majority of the water off like a wet puppy. Kagome laughed as she was hit with droplets. Inuyasha smirked as he grabbed the towel and wrapped it around his waist. Kagome wrapped a towel around her torso. She flipped her hair to one side and dabbed it with another towel. Inuyasha led them out of the bathroom, back into their bedroom. A cloud of steam followed them out of the small space.

Kagome, still towel drying her hair, walked over to the dresser. With her free hand, she rummaged through the drawer to find some under garments. She found a matching bra and panty set and walked over to the bed. She threw the set onto the bed.

Inuyasha sat on the bed and watched every move she made. She noticed his staring and smirked as she dropped her towel and stretched her arms over her head. He growled appreciatively at the sight of the curves of her body. She giggled and covered her breasts with her arms. He smiled and turned his head to give her some privacy and headed to the dresser to get dressed himself.

She put on her panties, then her bra and proceeded to the closet. She put on a loose fitting sundress so her baby bump wasn’t showing so prominently. Since they were going to tell Inuyasha’s father about the soon-to-be new addition to the family, she figured she would leave it to his keen nose to figure it out instead of his vision. ‘It’s more of a surprise that way.’ She smiled to herself at that thought.

A pair of strong arms wrapped around her from behind. “What’s so funny?” Inuyasha asked, curious of her smile. Kagome shook her head and snuggled into his hold.

“It’s nothing sweetheart.” She replied. She turned herself around in his arms to face him. He had chosen his usual red shirt with jeans outfit. Inuyasha leaned down and kissed her lips.

"Rin is here." He said. His ear twitched on top of his head as he heard a soft knock on the door.

"Inuyasha? Kagome? We will be leaving soon. Are the two of you ready?" Rin called from behind the closed door. Kagome giggled as she went to pick up one of the bags they had packed for the trip. Inuyasha stopped her and gave her a look like don't even try it. He grabbed the bags and they headed for the door.

Rin greeted them happily with a smile. "Sesshomaru, Lady Izayoi and I just got our things packed in carriage and they asked me to see if you were ready!" She said before prancing ahead. Kagome looked up at Inuyasha and they smiled at one another.

Inuyasha was excited to tell his father about his expecting mate. He knew that his dad would be very happy for them. Kagome knew that Inu No Taisho was going to be a wonderful grandfather.

They reached the carriage that was prepared for departure. The four horse's reins were bright red with golden accents. There were also four servants that would be accompanying them during their travels. Kagome looked around but saw no sign of a certain fox child. Izayoi saw her confused expression and approached her to explain.

"I thought that you might have a little more relaxing trip if Shippo stayed here with Kaede." She said. Kagome was a little nervous about leaving Shippo at the castle without Inuyasha or Sesshomaru there to protect him but then she knew that there was basically an army of servants that would protect him if need be.

"I guess you're right. I just want to tell him goodbye before we leave." Kagome responded as she turned towards the front door. Inuyasha held her waist firmly as he walked her back inside. They stepped in through the front door and waited.

"Shippo!" She called happily. A moment later, the young fox demon hurled through the dinning room door and ran on all fours across the room to his parents before leaping into Kagome's arms. She giggled and hugged him tight. Inuyasha watched with a warm smile, until he smelt salt. His face shifted.

Shippo smelt the tears too. He looked up to see his mother's cheeks covered in tears. "What's wrong Mommy?" He asked. Kagome wiped her eyes and smiled at him.

"I'm just going to miss you!" She said. Shippo's lips turned up into a grin and he giggled.

"I'll miss you and Daddy too! But you don't have to worry. I'm going to keep this place running like Uncle Sesshomaru does!" Shippo told them with self assurance. It was Kagome's turn to giggle. Inuyasha's smile returned.

"Well, I guess I don't have anything to worry about!" She teased as she tickled his belly a bit. He laughed in response. Then, Kagome hugged him again and when she pulled back, she became more serious. "Shippo, please mind Kaede and be good, okay?" She instructed. Shippo nodded happily and hugged Kagome one more time. He leapt over to his father and hugged him as well.

He proceeded to jump down and prance back to the dining room door. He turned and waved at them.

"Come back safely Mom and Dad! I'll be waiting!" He exclaimed. Then, disappeared back into the dining room. Kagome smiled with a tear threatening to spill over her lid. Inuyasha laced his arm around her shoulders and squeezed her comfortingly.

“He will be fine. Kaede is here to take care of him.” Inuyasha assured her. She wiped away the moisture from her eyes and nodded. They turned and went back the way they came through the front door.

Inuyasha helped her to the carriage. Sesshomaru was assisting Izayoi and Rin as they got in the carriage as Inuyasha and Kagome approached. He got in himself and sat next to Rin. It was Inuyasha’s turn to help Kagome in. She stepped carefully onto the steps and ducked into the small space. She sat next to Izayoi and Inuyasha followed her, shutting the door behind him.

“Everyone ready to go?” Izayoi asked cheerfully. The two couples nodded in agreement. Izayoi knocked on the wall to signal to the servants that the trip to begin. They were ready for their long trip to see their father.
