Souta sat in the living room. He had been alone in the Sunset Shrine for five years now. First his big sister disappears through the well never to return, then Jii-chan gets a heart attack not long after. Then a fucking drunk takes away his mother. He had finished high-school but then he had chosen to take care of the shrine instead, knowing that his grandfather had wanted that. And thanks to Jii-chan's and mother's thoughtful investments he had no worries when it came down to money. He sighed deeply, he had fallen into the world of sad memories again. Souta got up from the sofa and went to the kitchen and opened the fridge. He grabbed a beer and opened it and went outside to sit under the God Tree and indulge in more sad memories. "Is this my fate? To live in the past?" he asked himself and took a generous sip out of the can.

He closed his eyes and saw his sister's face in front of him and he smiled. "I wonder… are you happy now sis? Are you still alive? Of course you are, you were to damn stubborn… Have you married dog brother? Do you have dog eared kids?" He sipped more beer as he conversed with his inner voice.

But after an hour of mindless ramblings he heard a strange sound coming from the old well house. His heart stopped for a second. "Sis????" He got up on his feet, the beer can took one impressive flight into the air when he began walking over to the small shack.

Souta could hardly breathe when he grabbed the handles to the sliding door and opened it. He had expected much, but not black cursing.

Rin was about to hurl her stomach to kingdom come. Gods, this smell, it was awful, how could anyone live here where the air was thick with toe curling odours?

- Fuck what a disgusting smell, she cursed and coughed at the same time. She let out all the bad words she had been forbidden to say. - I don't care that they say you can get use to it, this shit smells like Jaken's filthy nest.

She brushed off some dust on her new outfit and looked up. Something was prohibiting her from seeing the blue sky. "I guess the well let me through then. Ok, so where is the bad guy?" She stiffened up and grabbed the handle of the sword when she heard a man's voice from above.

- Kagome?? Is that you??

Souta wanted so badly that the female voice would be his sister, but his intuition told him that it was too young, this was somebody else's.

- No, I am Jaken's personal punch bag, who the hell are you? snarled the female voice from down below.

- My name is Souta…

- Well Souta-san, you live in one hell of a stinky world, care to help me get up from this smelling place?

Souta frowned and tried to figure out a face on the female, but the darkness in the well made it impossible.

- There is a ladder, use it.

Rin saw it and began climbing, glad she did not have much to carry, only a hell of a lot weapons. Once she reached the top she felt a hand around her wrist, helping her the last way up.

- Thank you Souta-san, she said and saw him for the first time. "Oh gods, isn't he the cute one?"

- You are welcome…

- My name is Rin…. You know of Kagome-sama? asked Rin and ventured outside.

- She was my sister, you know her?

- Was? She still is my dear Souta-san, but she has lost the ability to travel through the well. But I can tell you that she is alive and well. She has mated Inuyasha and they have three children. Very cute children I might add. Silver hair and dog eared.

Souta chuckled, it was as he had suspected. A ton of heavy stones were lifted from his chest. His sister was still alive. He was not alone, well, not really. He walked in front of her towards the shrine.

- Would you like a cup of tea? I want to hear everything Rin-san, he said and opened the door for her.

- Yes, that would be nice.

- Come, kitchen is this way.

Souta guided her to the kitchen, he could feel her eyes in the back of his neck and he knew he sported a suit of goose bumps. Although he had not looked at her, not eyed her, he knew what his body felt. And his body like this woman a lot. Her long black hair was braided; her face looked like it had been cut out of peachy marble. He turned on the kitchen light and showed her to sit down at the low table while he made the tea. Once the tea kettle was set he sat down too, only to have a good look at her. Their eyes met in an electrified moment. Souta wanted to take a deep breath when he saw her dark leaf green eyes. She was very beautiful, but why was she here?

- So I have become an uncle then? But I never get to meet them, is that correct? He asked softly.

- I am afraid that is the case Souta-san. Kaede-sama told me that Kagome-sama could not pass through the well because she had mated Inuyasha. But the good news is that the jewel is complete, you don't have to worry about her getting killed by Naraku anymore, said Rin with a smile.

- That is good.

- But you have some trouble here in the future. I have been trained for nine years, and that only for me to come here and fight it.

- What kind of trouble Rin-san? asked Souta and got up when he heard the tea kettle whistle. He served the tea and then sat down again.

- Kaede-sama did not know precisely what it was, she only knew that some kind of evil was growing here and it had to be stopped and I was the one to do it since your sister no longer could pass through the well. She said that I would know the evil once I encountered it, said Rin and sipped her tea. - And it is not you…

Souta let out a deep chuckle that made Rin shiver. "What the hell was that??" she asked herself and gulped down another sip of her tea. "I think my dear Papa have excluded something from my lectures… Good thing Kaede-sama told me a little about the things that could go on between a man and a woman. And I think this classifies as something that would fall under that kind of lecture." she thought as she looked at the young man in front of her.

He was a very handsome young man. His short black hair was in a disarray, as if had not combed it for days. His eyes were dark grey, almost black and the way they seemed to flash made her want to… She could not put words on the feeling his eyes invoked inside her soul. Although he was wearing a tee-shirt she still could see that his shoulders were broad, his biceps were hard, like he was working a lot. Her eyes went lower and noticed his hard flat stomach. "If his upper body look like this I am sure the rest of him will look just as good." she thought and blushed dark red. She began talking about stuff that had happened while she and Sesshoumaru travelled with Kagome and her mate. Anything to get her mind off him. He was not healthy, he made her feel things that she never had felt before and that made her uneasy and aroused at the same time.

Souta drank anything that she could provide. He loved to hear the stories about his sister, and he always had been a sucker for fairytales and legends, and the way Rin told the stories, it did sound a lot like legends. Her voice was soft and he knew that if he had been in bed, her voice would lull him off to sleep. Something only his mother had been capable of. But if she was anywhere near a bed…. He bit his lip when he undressed her inside his mind. "This is not good Souta… not good at all. You have just met the girl, and already you are thinking about getting her into your bed…" he thought and wanted to smack him self for the perverted thought that flickered through his mind.

Once the tea kettle was empty he showed Rin to one of the guestrooms. He mumbled something about fighting evilness in the morning and then he said good night and walked out the door, sliding it close behind him even if it almost cost him his sanity. Never had he reacted so strongly against a girl, and here came a girl from the past, turning him into a pile of shivering jelly.

Rin removed the black haori and folded it neatly and put it on a chair. She might look like she was calm, but inside her heart and soul raged an earth shattering storm. "Why was I not taught about this?" she frowned and removed the baggy black trousers. She did with them like she had the haori. She might have been unschooled in the matter, but she was no fool. The way her heart fluttered when his dark grey eyes pierced hers… that could only mean one thing - attraction. Rin sighed and moved down to lay on the futon. She put the blanket over her lower body and closed her eyes only to see Souta's handsome face. "This is going to be a looong night…"
