Summery: Rin's and her sister have been betrothed since they were kids but suddenly the youkai and hanyou show up(forced by their father) Will they end up falling in love? Or worse: with the wrong one?! ( Rin/Sess, Kag/Inu, San/Mir) rated X just incase (lemon!)

He laughed and said, “No you don't, unless you want to have a war on our hands.”

Memories

 

Rin's heart dropped to the floor, because war was the last thing she wanted. The last war happened when Rin was only 9, but she did remember all the horrors of it. It had lasted three long years, the longest years of Rin's life. It had been against the South Kingdom, where the wolf demons ruled. Rin herself had witnessed the beginning of it.

Rin tried to calm her breathing as she looked around her for any sign of her mother, Ginny. She knew she hadn't gone very far from the castle. Her mother had left for a walk only a little while ago, but when she thought she had heard a wolf howl and immediately ran to her mother's room, then remembered she was gone. Rin searched the gardens where her mother sat at times, but she wasn't there. Rin was about to give up but remembered the howl, so she started to search the forest next to the kingdom.

 

She searched, and searched, getting farther away from the kingdom until she didn't know where she was. Rin was scared out of her mind, then she heard arguing on the other side of a bush, curiously she peaked through. When she saw Ginny she almost ran into her mother's arms, but didn't when she saw that Ginny was arguing with a wolf youkai. The man stood close to her and whispered into her mother's ear and watched as her mother push him away.

 

“Youna, you know I would never betray Houjai, I love him, he's my mate,” Rin could tell she was trying to keep her voice as calm as possible.

 

`Mate?' Rin thought. `Why would mother talk like a youkai?'

 

“Ginny don't say that, you know you love me.”

 

“Of coarse I love you but not in the same way as I love Houja. We have a bond, two daughters even, you should just leave.”

 

“He's a human. And those mutts are just that, mutts.”

 

“You have no right to disrespect my pups,” Ginny's voice seemed to turn into a growl and the wind picked up.

 

“No one else can have you but me.”

 

“Leave, Youna.”

 

“Well, I guess I'll just kill you then,” In seconds he was in front of Ginny and had stabbed a knife in her stomach.

 

Rin watched in horror as her mother's body slid to the floor, then she heard the wolf, Youna, say, “And I kind of liked you, so pretty, but on the other hand any youkai who marries a human deserves to die.”

 

At this he walked away, immediately after he was out of view Rin ran to the side of her mother. Rin's tears fell down on her mother as she shook her gently. Ginny opened her beautiful silver eyes and looked at her daughter lovingly. Rin then put her hand on the hilt of the dagger and in one swift jerk took it out. Blood rushed out of Ginny's wound so Rin put her hands over the hole and tried to stop the bleeding.

 

“Hold on, Mother. Please just hold on. I'll go get help and Daddy will fix you.”

 

“Oh, honey no one can help me the dagger is poi-“ Ginny stopped to cough, blood splattered on Rin. “The dagger was poisoned it will kill any youkai in only five minutes. Now Rin tell your sister to be good and don't fight too much with your father, and tell her I'll always be with her. Tell your father that, too.” Ginny lightly ran a finger across Rin's forehead and drew a star there, then she let her hand fall limply.

 

“Also always follow your heart Rin, and let no one ever speak down to you because you're a hanyou. I love you, Rin……..” as her voice trailed off and her eyes glazed over, turning gray.

 

Rin brought her hands to close her mother's eyes and noticed they were covered with her mother's blood. Her shock slowly wore off of her and she became angry, and then sadness. Grabbing the knife she stuck it into her skirt and slowly made her way towards a river. Though she had been lost before now she knew exactly were she was for some reason. After washing her hands and the knife, she hid it again, and made her way towards the castle still in a trance of sorts.

Sitting down she looked her hand that now seemed to be covered in blood. Rin blinked several times and the blood vanished. Her eyes started to fill with tears. After Kagome saw Rin sit down as if in a daze she followed her little sister's lead. Kagome nearly forgot about being betrothal as she worried for her sister, nearly.

A/N: Yay! I've got another chapter done! I'm sorry if this chapter is a little sad but don't worry I'll try not to ever do it again! Never!!! Actually just don't get mad at me when I do, okay!!
