Chapter 1

 

Walking down the street oblivious to the world wondering how she got into this predicament. How was she going to tell her dad? He would never understand maybe she could tell her mama and let her relay the message but someone was still going to forfeit their life perhaps uncle Inu could help her. Changing her route heading toward her uncle Inuyasha's house nearly in tears as she went her hand on her stomach. She was so immersed in her thoughts she didn't notice a group of girls approaching her with nasty looks on their faces moving straight for her. She looked up just in time to avoid running straight into them as they snickered and whispered she recognized them from school they were in her homeroom she didn't care why they were snickering right now she needed to get to Inu and hope he would be willing to help her and wouldn't side with her dad. Speeding up nearly to a run passing a red headed demon not realizing it in her need to fix this problem.

Watching Rin run by in a hurry he was worried his sister never ignored him no matter what was happening maybe he should follow her. She had gotten distant with him as of late. Him and Rin had always been close they had both been adopted in to the same family at nearly the same time in both Demon rights and Human for Rin was human at least mostly when the Demon adoption right was done blood had been exchanged between his mama, papa, Rin and him. Giving Rin some demon like traits she was faster she had a longer life span she wouldn't live as long as him or papa but then again neither would mama she was human to start out with too but after mating with the great Lord Shesshomaru his papa. She took his blood she changed more than Rin did though some think it has to do with her miko blood so not only does mama have demon ability she some of the physical attributes she has one strip on each cheek just like papa along with his tail but hers is black with a silver tip her ears are a little pointy but not as elfish as papa's but oddly enough she didn't get his moon she got a bow and arrow crossing like an X that seems to glow representing her miko blood in the midst of the demon. Shippo looked around to see if she had been in danger and when he didn't see anything he really got worried and started following her noticing the path she had been taking he realized she was heading for Inu following her wasn't as easy as it used to be as she got older her abilities grew she was nearly as fast as Shesshomaru which was defiantly a skill considering she only has a minute trace of demon blood and she's only 17. Watching her as she ran up to Inu's door pounding on it impatiently looking around as if making sure she wasn't being followed he looked around again making sure no one else was around before sneaking up to the house watching her out of the corner of my eye seeing her gesturing wildly when he answered the door only hearing snippets of the conversation before Inu ushered her in. Knowing she wouldn't open up if she knew he was their he snuck in hiding his scent from his uncle and sister a neat little trick his mom taught him when she got mad at papa and was hiding from him. Crawling through a window in the back of the house that his uncle had a tendency to leave open keeping low and staying quiet. Listening intently hoping he could solve the mystery of what was wrong with his baby sister.

Inuyasha was laying on his couch dozing soundly enjoying the quiet no kids, siblings, or cranky old people to deal with. Just as that thought ran through his head a loud banging proceeded to interrupt his quiet time. Growling sniffing lightly to see who it was he couldn't smell anything this meaning it could only be one of two people the only two people he knew that could completely hide their scent and the void hiding it created was Kagome and Rin Shippo could hide it but it still left a blank spot where he was if you weren't paying attention you wouldn't even notice poor boy didn't even know he hadn't mastered it. Shesshomaru had bribed him not to tell Shippo cause every time Kags went missing Shippo was how he found her him and his lack of scent. Grumbling as he got up yelling the he was coming before answering the door seeing a crying Rin looking panicked on his door step.

“What's wrong Rin why are you crying?” he asked uncomfortably he hated it when females cried and his niece was one of the worst he would he would go to the end of the world to make her stop she was his baby in a matter of speaking.

She started crying even harder her arms flying around wildly while she explained she needed his help and that it was important she went on for a few minutes like this before he realized other than tidbits he couldn't understand her he ushered her in the house noticing once he got back in the house that Shippo was crawling through the back window and debated on scaring him or leaving him be he was worried about his sister so Inuyasha left him alone. Sitting Rin on the couch he went to make some tea to help calm her down. When he came back a few minutes later with tea she was down to just sniffles.

“Ok now what is so bad that you have to cry about it?” Inu asked trying his hardest not to assume the worst.

“Before….(sniffle)….I tell you…….(sniffle)……You have to……(hiccup)… promise not to get……(sniffle)….mad” Rin said looking up at him with tear filled eyes afraid of rejection and judgment from her beloved uncle.

Wiping away some tears looking in her eyes, “I promise what is it?”

She closed her eyes slowly letting down the shield that blocked her scent she was so used to wearing it; it seemed weird not having it. She looked up at her uncle taking a deep breath before murmuring, “I'm pregnant” just loud enough for his sensitive demon hearing to catch he sniffed quickly confirming her words he smelled the pup even this early in the pregnancy he had to remind himself he promised not to get mad but he couldn't help a little of it. “How in the world did this happen and don't give me that who birds and bees crap I know that.” He said as she opened her mouth with a retort before closing it quickly. “Does my brother know? Of course not,” he muttered, “Why would you come to me for help if he already knew I'm sure I'd be able to hear his roar from here if you had already told him.” Taking a deep breath sighing deeply before regaining a little sanity. “Ok who all knows about this Rin?”

“Well me, my doctor and you I didn't know what to do when dad finds out he'll go on a killing spree until he finds out who the father is and destroys him and his family.” She started crying again.

“Damn Straight he would what the hell were you thinking your only 17 Rin I thought I knew you better than this. How could you not have come to me with this.” A rage filled Shippo yelled as he burst into the room. Rin squeaked in surprise Inu looked up forgetting that Shippo had been hiding. This wasn't going to be pleasant.

“Shippo what are you doing here? And Inuyasha how come you didn't tell me I know he hasn't perfected covering up why didn't you warn me!” Rin was beyond angry she felt hurt and betrayed like her life wasn't full of enough drama right now.

“I'm sorry Rin I was shocked I forgot to warn you he was hiding in the back,” Inuyasha whimpered his ears flattened against his head disappointed in himself he knew she trusted him and must feel betrayed.

“What do you mean I haven't perfected covering up? I'm great at hiding my scent. But that's not the point Rin cover your scent back up before dad gets close enough to catch a whiff of it.” Shippo demanded.

Doing as she was told though reluctantly, “Look Shippo you can help me or just shut up and go away. Yes I made a mistake but this isn't only my fault alright shit happens but right now I need help telling papa with out a blood bath happening and I knew uncle Inu could help me. So here's your out Shippo help me and face papa's wrath or go home and keep quiet. And yea you can hide your scent but you leave a blank spot in the air that's how papa always finds you and mama.” She retorted scowling at him taking a sip from her tea trying to calm down.

“She's right Shippo help or stay out of the way on this one we have a lot of planning to do on this and hopefully we can keep my brother from killing anyone.”

“I want to help I'm sorry Rin it's just of all the things I expected this wasn't any of the reasons I had thought you were distancing yourself from me. I mean your always hiding your scent anyway so we never even knew anything had changed and your not marked I guess we all just assumed when something did happen it would be with a demon and you would have a mate we didn't think you would go for a human since you were raised around almost all demons.” Shippo apologized and explained.

“Who said he was human? Just because I'm not mated doesn't mean the father isn't demon. Just means he didn't want me.” Rin said sighing softly

“Ok now I'm confused all the demons I know of that are humanoid demons mate for life and if they aren't mating the don't breed. What happened Rin? Explain this to us maybe it'll help when calming your dad down.” Inuyasha said speaking softly trying not to make her mad Kagome may not be her biological mother but she still has her temper.

“I doubt it it'll just shove him off the deep end even quicker. But here goes any way…it was about four weeks ago I snuck out one night while dad was out of town and went to this party I knew I shouldn't go but I had been invited by this guy and I really liked him so I went well the party was great there was drinking and drugs and what-not but I swear I wasn't doing anything I shouldn't have I mean I had like one beer but that was it or at least that's all I knew about it turns out someone slipped something I don't even know what in my drink it didn't knock me out but I wasn't myself all inhibitions were gone I was doing some of the stupidest stuff just because someone suggested it well before I knew what was happening I was in a room with the guy that had invited me he was pawing at me and all over me I was so out of it I didn't care I think I may have passed out at some point because I don't remember much and for that I'm grateful I don't think I could stand it it's bad enough knowing something did happen well I woke up a couple hours later finally the drug had wore off and I could think clearly again I looked around and noticed someone sitting next to me half dressed I sat up to see who it was and what had happened I was sore as I sat up he turned his head and grinned saying something about how it had been fun but I wasn't his type after all.” Rin gave her explanation tears returning to her eyes but being strong refusing to look weak in front of her brother and uncle.

As she finished the story both males started growling their eyes starting to bleed red before both of the simultaneously yelled out, “WHO WAS IT????”

Sighing she shook her head, “I'm not telling you until you calm down it's not like you can change the facts now. I'm pregnant he doesn't know and last I heard wouldn't care regardless the problem is I don't want papa forcing me to mate him so you two need to calm down and help me out here.” Rin said sighing watching them as their growls lowered and their eyes lost most of the red tinge but there was still some trace of red around the outer edges.

“Alright Rin your right but were about as calm as you can expect right now, now who was it.” Shippo asked through gritted teeth trying to stay calm after hearing his baby sister seem so emotionless about her whole ordeal.

“His name is Ryoga...”

“Wait you mean Kouga and Ayame's Brat Ryoga?” Inuyasha interrupted her

Nodding her head, “Yea that's the one he's in a couple of my classes luckily he's not hard to avoid so far all I've had to deal with his the whispers and snickers from the girls but I'll graduate soon so it's not so bad.” She said smiling sadly

Inuyasha and Shippo hung their heads in shame feeling as if it was partly their fault if they had paid more attention maybe they would have seen something was wrong with her.

“Don't blame yourselves guys this is my fault and I accept that I just need some help with dad I refuse to have to mate and or marry that ass because he decided I looked easy one night.” Growling herself startling Shippo and Inu.

“Your right sis but how do we do that you know pops is seriously possessive and over protective of you if it wasn't for the scent barrier he would have killed him that night and you know it. The only way I can think of is if he kills him in rage then you won't have to deal with him any more.” Shippo suggested grinning liking that idea immensely

“You know that wouldn't work either his father is the leader of that whole clan making him a verified prince and killing him would start a war between the wolf clan of the north and the dog clan of the west not exactly how I want this handled we should be able to find a non-violent way to solve this with out me having to destroy my pup. So come on help me seriously.” She said getting desperate

“Wait nobody said anything about destroying your pup calm down Rin we'll figure it out if we have to call Kags for help. Hell that maybe our best bet she needs a subjugation rosary for him,” Inu said grinning flicking at his own rosary even though it no longer held any power over him he wore it for so long he couldn't stand to get rid of it.

“Yea well you know she wouldn't do that but I may just to be on the safe side I don't think I'm trained enough though to subdue papa I mean I have some miko blood of my own but I'm not that strong yet if I thought it would work with out pissing him off further I would try it.” Rin said sighing “Uncle Inu do you think with Shippo's help you can hold papa off if he goes into a rage?”

“Maybe with your moms help but I don't know but we have to tell him before you let your shield slip and he smells it cuz then he would try and maim both of us for knowing and not telling him.” Inuyasha suggested

“I am so glad I'm graduating in three months I shouldn't be showing too much when I graduate maybe school won't be so bad.” Rin said hopefully

Shippo moved sitting down next to his sister hugging her against him sighing deeply, kissing the top of her head, “Maybe sis, Maybe but you know if people start giving you problems all you have to do is tell me or Inu and we'll take care of it.” Sighing exasperatedly when he heard her growling at him, “I know you don't need our protection but think of the pup sis you don't need to get in a fight for a while.”

Scoffing before Murmuring Rin said, “Technically it's not a pup is it it's a cub but it's mine and I'll be damned if I'm going to let anyone or anything hurt It.” Glaring at the wall through out her little speech.

“No one is going to hurt your cub Rin we will protect you even if we have to face my brother to do it.” Inuyasha said standing strong still not looking forward to that confrontation.

“Rin I hate to have to say this but now you know its going to be nearly impossible for you to find a demon mate. Very few demons will take in another demons bastard child. I mean I was lucky papa let mama convince him to adopt me even if I wasn't hers. But it's a major blow to know your mate has had another and had their pup.” Shippo said explaining shaking his head at the hopelessness of the situation.

“Shippo I know that but with as mixed as my blood is I have always know finding my mate would be nearly impossible I mean think about it not only do I have dog demon blood from papa but your fox blood as well not to mention some of mama's miko and my own miko blood do you really think the male demons were ever going to flock to me to try and be my mate? And now with my child I would be lucky to find a demon willing to accept me but a human would be even harder to find do you think they would accept my mixed blood plus a mixed demon child who could easily hurt them? Of course not I mean I wanted a demon mate I always did and everyone always expected I would have one with being raised by primarily demons it was bound to be the conclusion but if it comes to my happiness or the safety and love of my cub I'll suffer because its not all about me anymore.” Rubbing her stomach softly smiling dreamily thinking about her child and what it would look and be like would it look more like her or its father? She couldn't help but wonder, “besides I don't need a mate to be happy if it happens so be it but I won't pursue it I refuse to put my child in that kind of danger.”

Inuyasha moved sitting next to her hugging her Shippo and him both holding her close whispering to her their noses in her hair as a comfort to all of them whispering that they would always protect her and her child.
