Kagome, Kagome….

After a while, it became apparent that Kagome was not returning. When it really hit them all, a month after InuYasha brought her back to her family, the InuTachi sat around Kaede's hut and reminisced.

“I can't believe she is gone and won't come back,” Shippo said. “I miss her so much. Being here just makes me miss her more.”

Kirara chirped and walking over, went and butted her head against the kitsunes leg comfortingly. Shippo reached out and scratched behind her ears, making her purr.

“I think Kirara misses Kagome too,” Shippo said.

“We all miss her,” Sango replied, leaning against her husbands shoulder. “I never had many girl friends, she was the best friend I ever had. I never met a braver, more devoted young woman then our Kagome.”

Miroku sat poking the butt of his staff into the embers of the cook fire, his violet eyes thoughtful.

“Yes, she is missed. She was a compassionate person, yet fearless in battle.” Miroku said. “I remember how she used to run around with her first aid kit, caring for everyone's injuries.”

InuYasha sat silently, his eyes closed and hands in sleeves. Listening to his friends was beginning to become too much for him; because no one missed Kagome more than he did. She was his soul mate, an angel sent by the kami to bring him back to life. He was nothing more than someone itching for vengeance, and conniving to steal the jewel and no longer be a wretched hanyou that everyone loathed - until she came along.

“I've had enough listening to all of you,” InuYasha said, jumping up. “Kagome is where she needs to be right now. But someday she will return - because she and I belong together!”

No one stopped InuYasha as he stormed out of the hut. No one said a word. They knew that he was suffering the worst since Kagome had been gone. So they averted their eyes so as not to antagonize him as he left.

The countryside flew by in a blur, and InuYasha looked like a streak of silver and red as he sped away. When he finally stopped, he was standing in front of the well. A well that led to the world of the one he loved, his Kagome. But it was closed to him now….

Crouching down, InuYasha rested his chin on the lip of the well, and clutched at the edge. He gazed into its dark depths with big, sad golden eyes.

“Come back to me, Kagome,” InuYasha whispered. “I will be waiting for you, how ever long it takes.”

InuYasha closed his eyes, a ragged sigh escaping him, while his mind whispered to him over and over again…

Kagome, Kagome…..
