Rules of Enmity
Chapter three - Nice Inuyasha!?

Kagome didn't understand why he kept insisting that she give him the “Shikon no Tama” when she had no idea what it was.

She soaked herself in a bath every morning since the incident because no matter what she did, she could still smell Inuyasha's musky scent on her body…and still remember what he had done to her.

Flashback…

“How does it feel being fucked?” he asked roughly, sticking a finger inside her as his penis maimed her insides.

End…

Kagome shook her head and shivered despite the heat of the water. She suddenly felt a new hatred for that demon who took advantage of her, yet she was strangely drawn to him by some unknown force…

She saw something stir near the well outside the window out of the corner of her eye and saw Kouga looking about suspiciously.

Where's he going? She wondered.

Kouga couldn't sleep that night. He had to find that asshole who destroyed HIS Kagome's innocence. Kagome was his, and this bastard just comes and takes it from her by force. He ran through the forest, taking in the scent of the rain, the moss, and the beings that lurked in the darkness.

He has to be here somewhere… he thought, his eyes darting every which place. “I know you're here, Canine shit!!” he bellowed distastefully. His eyes shot to the trees above him, right when he heard the soft ruffle of leaves as well as the rustle of clothing.

“Hey asshole,” the dog demon sneered once his feet touched the ground. He stood in a comfortable stance with his hands on the ground, his body crouching, and his eyes blazing.

“Baka, what did you do to Kagome?” he growled, inching toward the hanyou.

Inuyasha slowly stood up from his crouching position and stretched, putting his palms behind his head. He sighed before giving the wolf youkai a smirk. “Nothing. Ask her if I hurt her, she'll tell you that I didn't.”

“Just stay the fuck away from her, you hear!? She's my woman!” Kouga demanded.

“I don't want your bitch dumb ass; I need something else that she has. Have her! I don't need a fucking human to gratify me,” Inuyasha returned viciously. “So why are you looking for me? To beat me up, or `cause you love me so much?” he teased.

Kouga felt as if he would explode if he didn't kill the bastard that instant. “What I would love is for you to die!” he shouted before charging at Inuyasha. In a blur of motion Inuyasha unsheathed his sword and sliced through Kouga's abdomen. Unfortunately for him Kouga moved just as quickly, evading the slice and jumping toward Inuyasha's neck with a weapon of his own. Inuyasha dodged it, sliding under the sword, just barely cutting the small hairs on his chin.

The small bout of action ended in less than two seconds, each with their backs facing one another.

“Keh,” Inuyasha scoffed. “Not bad.”

“I was just warming up,” Kouga warned, slowly turning to face his opponent. Inuyasha turned to face him as well.

Instantly, the two charged at one another, once more, their swords in a whirlwind of clanging and unbridled moves that could have eviscerated a human with one swift swing across the gut. Inuyasha feigned a swing across Kouga's neck, causing the wolf to attempt to block it, but to his dismay Inuyasha switched directions and sliced Kouga's left arm. Inuyasha smirked.

Kouga didn't hesitate to wipe Inuyasha's smirk right off his face with a brisk movement of his hand, he sent the heel of his palm straight up against Inuyasha's nose, causing the poor hanyou to stagger back in surprise. Blood dripped from his nostril as he gazed up at Kouga with a look of unadulterated hatred while wiping the dripping crimson liquid slowly off his face.

“How'd you like that Ass breath?” he retaliated cockily.

“Sankon Tessou!” With a rapid flick of his wrist, Inuyasha slashed at the opposing youkai's face with his iron claws, causing painful, burning marks on Kouga's face. Kouga wouldn't be defeated easily, but meanwhile, Inuyasha had only used the iron claw attack to distract him, giving him an upper cut against the jaw, launching him into the air until his body sailed into a tree.

With all the strength in his body, Kouga lifted his feet so that his feet hit the tree instead. He caught his balance easily and landed on the ground in a familiar stance. He spat the blood that dripped from his mouth.

“You're dead!” Kouga spat.

No more games Inuyasha, Kouga thought as he aimed his sword at Inuyasha's heart. Inuyasha evaded and dodged as Kouga slashed and stabbed at him, retaliating with his own quick, slinging movements, intent on impaling his enemy. Then, in an instant, Inuyasha successfully brought up his foot and swung it across Kouga's legs. Kouga went crashing down, stunning him out of the iron grip he had on his sword. Inuyasha stood over him, his shadow seemingly towering over him as he placed his foot against the crown of the wolf youkai's head. He grinned.

“Have any last words?” Inuyasha asked, prompting to crush his head into the dirt.

Kouga said nothing, but continued to bombard himself with resentful thoughts. How could I let this mutt defeat me? Then he remembered something…

“Just don't hurt Kagome,” he whispered. Unbeknownst to the inu-youkai, Kouga had another weapon stashed in his haori. In a flash, Kouga grasped the weapon and swiped straight across Inuyasha's ribs. Inuyasha howled and staggered back, freeing Kouga's head from the ground. Just to be on the safe side, Kouga lifted his right foot and spun, propelling himself into a snap kick against the wound he created on Inuyasha's ribs, causing a loud crack before the great Inuyasha fell on his back.

Fucking asshole…his stupid bitch's poisonous stab mark was still there… he remembered, clutching the triply punctured wound. “Shit, shit, shit…” he swore silently.

It was Kouga's turn to smirk. “How does it feel being defeated by a superior being? You know you'll never defeat me. You're just a stupid, fucking hanyou,” he jeered, stepping into Inuyasha's poisonous wound. “Good night. Forever,” he whispered, slowly holding up his sword to bring down into Inuyasha's heart.

“STOP!” came a cry from nearby. Both youkai turned to see where it came from.

“Kagome?” Kouga called back, as he watched the woman he loved run toward them, her chest heaving from running so fast.

“Don't kill him!” she admonished, kneeling before the fallen hanyou. “Are you all right?”

Both Inuyasha and Kouga were suddenly very confused. Why was she being kind to him?

“Didn't this asshole rape you? Why can't I kill him Kagome?” Kouga asked, almost begging.

“I'm sorry Kouga-kun, but there must be a reason—I mean…” she paused and looked straight into Inuyasha's golden eyes. “You can't be evil.” Inuyasha continued to look up into her beautiful eyes, wondering what she would ever see in something like him.

She reminds me of…of…

With that Inuyasha felt his head suddenly become very heavy and painfully numb. His eye sight began to blur and everything instantly began to fade.

Kagome knelt down in front of the slumbering hanyou and gently wiped his forehead with a warm towel.

After a long argument with Kouga about why she wanted him alive, she finally convinced him to let Inuyasha stay in the village until he felt better. But inside, Kagome couldn't help but question her own motives for keeping him alive. After embarrassing her and taking away her dignity as well as her virginity, how could anyone possibly have remorse for him?

Still, Kagome couldn't help but be curious, and good-natured. She knew that he was just bitter, seeking revenge…even revenge from people who did him no harm. Kagome sighed, softly stroking his silver hair, her nails running through his scalp, giving him an inadvertent massage.

He seems so peaceful when he's asleep, she thought to herself.

Unexpectedly, he woke up with a start, and grabbed her wrist, clutching it in a death grip. Kagome froze as his eyes darted in ever direction, wondering, searching.

“Inuyasha—please let go, you're hurting me,” Kagome pleaded, her voice strained. Inuyasha instantly released her and sat back in his cot, staring at her.

“How'd you find us?” Inuyasha asked, shifting uncomfortably in the cot. He looked straight at her, but avoided her eyes. He couldn't look at them. He suddenly felt a pang of shame that he couldn't shake off, no matter how much he tried to convince himself that he had evil in his heart. Evil isn't supposed to feel shame for hurting an innocent.

Kagome colored at this. “I—I was looking for you too…so I followed Kouga.”

“But why'd you save me? You should have let the wolf bastard kill me when he had the chance,” Inuyasha spat resentfully.

Did he want to die? Kagome wondered. Kagome shook her head. “I couldn't let you die.”

“Why? After what I did to you? After all the things—“ Inuyasha paused and averted her eyes, staring at his hands instead. “Never mind.”

There was a moment of awkward silence between them, until Kagome decided to speak up. “I know you've been through a lot—and I know you didn't mean to hurt me. Just tell me one thing, Inuyasha, if you don't want to tell me anything else.”

Inuyasha reluctantly looked up at her. “What?”

“What is this Shikon no Tama you were asking me for?”

“It's a long explanation.” Kagome nodded slowly, willing him to continue. “All right…Well it's a jewel containing the four souls Aramitama, Sakimitama, Nigimitama, and Kushimitama. It was made by a goddess named Midoriko who was able to balance these four souls in her heart and purify the souls of youkai. After a long battle, she realized that she couldn't fight off the youkai so her soul and the souls of those youkai were trapped in the jewel, creating the Shikon no Tama. The state of the battle depends on the person who has the jewel.”

“What does if have to do with me?” Kagome asked.

“From what I was told, you are from the Higurashi family, the family who guards the power of the Shikon jewel with your spiritual powers. Youkai are afraid to retrieve it from your family so…”

“So?”

“So I have to steal it,” Inuyasha explained. It was the least he could do for the things he did to her. She was so kind to him…how could he be so cruel?

“I'd really like to help you Inuyasha, but I don't have this Shikon jewel.”

It can't be! I can sense it…unless… he thought. “Kagome, the jewel is inside you,” Inuyasha explained. Kagome arched a brow at him.

“What!?”

“That jewel is—“

“Kagome?”

Inuyasha and Kagome turned to see Kouga standing at the foot of the shoji doors, arms folded, looking awfully territorial.

“Is the asshole better now? Can he leave now?” Kouga asked bitterly.

Kagome shook her head. “Kouga! This boy is hurt! You need to have a little more consideration for him—“

“Oh, like he had consideration for you when he raped you!?” Kouga screamed back. Kagome could say no more. She hated to remember it, but it stuck in her mind like an arrow through the eye.

“I'm sorry about that Kagome,” Inuyasha whispered behind the two. Kagome and Kouga turned to him. Kagome smiled remorsefully. Kouga scowled.

“It's not something someone can easily forget…but I think I can forgive you. You could have killed me back there but you didn't. And I could've had the chance to let Kouga but I didn't—“

“Which makes me more indebted to you,” Inuyasha muttered. Kagome smiled good-humoredly.

“It won't be so bad,” Kagome replied.

Kouga grimaced. How can Kagome forgive him so easily? Sure he was an attractive hanyou, but—he couldn't take it!! Sometimes he got so mad at the fact that Kagome was so kind hearted. She was also very stubborn and slightly tomboyish, but maybe that's what made so many people, as well as youkai, so attracted to her.

Somewhere in the back of his mind, he wondered if Inuyasha might start having feelings for her too…
