Chapter One: Thoughts

Rin's POV

I sighed inwardly as I sat in my science class. It was my last day here at this school. After school, I would be getting on a plane with the rest of my family and leave America. We are moving to Tokyo, Japan.

"Class, today is Rin's last day here. I'm sure we will all miss her." The teacher, Mr. Snyder, said making me look at him. Of course, no one paid attention to him. They were all talking to their friends. It did not matter even if they had paid attention. It was better when they did not because when they did not, it meant less criticism that was directed towards me. I sighed again and waited for school to end.

End of POV

Rin Mitsuragi, age 16, walked into her house shutting the door behind her. For her, that had been the longest day of school yet and she knew that a longer one was to come. It would be when she arrived at school for that day for her first day of school. Her whole life she had always been the new girl for they always kept on moving. Her father, Misuko, was in the army of the United States and he thought it would be best for the family to move to wherever he was stationed but earlier that month; he had retired from the army. Yes, she and her family were United States citizens. Now they were going to give up their citizenship to move to Japan. They were, after all, of Japanese origin so they thought it would be the right thing to do.

Rin looked around her house. It was so empty and it reminded her of all those other times she had moved. She put down her backpack and walked into the kitchen to see if her mother was in there. "Hey, Mom, are you in here? I'm home."

"Oh, hello, Rin dear. Is everything ready? Is all your things packed?" Rin's mother, Himiko asked her daughter as she packed the last of the kitchen ware. Rin smiled and nodded. She only felt happy when she was with her family. Her little sister, Kari, ran into; the room and flung herself into Rin's arms. "Bigger sister, you're home!"

"Yup, sure am. Are you ready to ride on the big airplane and see the ocean?" Rin asked happily. She did everything to make it seem that she was always happy. No matter what, she was always being judged.
