Chapter 1: The aide of a miko
Heart of the northern lands,
castle of Lord Yamamato and Lady Yuki
Sesshomaru sighed as he listened to the young taiyoukai rant on and on
about the constant disappearance of his men. The eastern lord, Hikari,
had requested a meeting with the other lords, who decided to meet at
the castle of Lord Yamamato and Lady Yuki of the Northern Lands. There
had been rumors going around about a new threat after the death of
Naraku. Some thought it to be his soul out for revenge, but those who
knew that his soul was that of a human, Onigumo, had other thoughts
about the new horror.
Sesshomaru could care less about Hikari's man. He was too young to be
a lord anyway. The only reason he was, was because his father had been
Slain and had no other heir. Sesshomaru found him as an easy target and
concluded to himself that this so called 'threat' was just after the
eastern lands, Mizuko and Sakuya of the southern lands had thought the
same thing, but their opinion had changed when their own men declined
in number, drastically too.
"First Naraku, now this. Haven't we had enough?" Yamamato began. "We
need to stop this before something happens to the villages in any of
our lands. Our people would not take kindly to another being such as
Naraku." He said. "What if your men are simply plotting against you?
Have you thought about that? Clearly you haven't smelt any unwelcome
youkai, or felt any powerful or malevolent youki in your lands or you
would not have failed to bring it to our attention." Sesshomaru stated
in a dry tone. "But that's just it, Sesshomaru-sama. They disappear. I
haven't seen it myself, but a few of my men have and they didn't smell
or feel youkai in the area near the castle." Mizuko said.
All but the eyes of Sesshomaru, Sakuya, and Hikari widened at this.
Mizuko continued. "The ones who witnessed this said that a bright
light engulfed the men, and when it was gone, so were they." "That's
what I got from my own men as well." Hikari said. Sakuya fit the
pieces together in her head and gasped as something clicked. "I know
this magic." She said. Everyone turned to stare at her. "It takes much
energy to perform such a thing, and the one behind this must be
extremely powerful. But, this magic can only be performed by a dragon
youkai, or a dark miko." Everyone nodded their heads to beckon her on.
"If a dragon youkai has completely mastered it's fire abilities, then
all he has to do is look into the burning flames, and see who he wants
to take. He imprisons the soul, but cannot control the body, so it
disappears. The soul is tortured until it tells him what he needs to
know. The only way the body and soul can be stolen, is if the target is
weak inside."
Everyone took a minute to take in what she said before Sesshomaru spoke
. "Why can't they feel them there, and where do the bodies go?"
Sakuya took a deep breath. "A powerful magic is used so the dragon
youki will be concealed. Only a miko, or another dragon of great power
can sense it, but it takes concentration and a great amount of energy
to locate its source.. I know of only one miko who is powerful enough
to take on this task. As for the bodies, they can only be released by a
miko after the dragon youkai is killed. As you know, any one can harm
and weaken a dragon youkai, but it takes the purification arrow of a
powerful miko in its heart to be killed."
"And who is this miko?" Mizuko asked. "The guardian f the Shikon no
Tama who helped in the defeat of Naraku." Without thinking Sesshomaru
asked, "Kagome?" Everyone looked at him. "How do you know of her so
well?" Hikari asked, a mischievous glint in his eyes. Sesshomaru
ignored it and went on. "She was the reincarnation of Kikyo, also the
one who released my half brother from the tree. I'll go to collect her
tomorrow." With that, Sesshomaru retired to his chambers in the
northern palace.
I know they are short chappys, but I'll make them longer once I get
more into the story! Please review, remember, advice is always welcome
