Chapter 28
Void
Sango paced the room. What the hell were the guys talking about? Was Miroku in danger? She didn't understand and it was starting to piss her off. She stopped when Kagome woke up. "Gomen Kagome I didn't mean to wake you up." Sango said.
"You didn't." Kagome said.
"What's wrong?" Sango asked.
"I have a bad feeling about something." Kagome said.
"I knew it! Something is going on." Sango said.
"What's going on?" Kagome said.
"I don't know I think it's about Miroku. Inuyasha and Shippo came in and then they ran out saying they had to find him." Sango said.
"It's about the doll. I got one that looked like Miroku." Kagome said. "Come on we have to find him."
"But we can't leave." Sango said. "Do you know how mad Inuyasha will be?"
"I don't care. Miroku is in danger. Let's go I'll take care of Inuyasha later." Kagome said.
"Fine but if we get in trouble I'm blaming it on you." Sango said as they ran out of the hotel.
"I would've taken the blame anyway." Kagome said.
"You do not want to see Inuyasha mad. You haven't seen him at his worst yet." Sango said.
"I don't care it's my fault all this stuff is happening." Kagome said. They ignored the stares as they ran. "Do you know where Miroku went?"
"He went for snacks that's all he told me." Sango said.
"Is there a grocery store nearby?" Kagome asked.
"Hai, this way." Sango said. They turned the nearest corner.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Can you smell his scent?" Shippo asked Inuyasha. They had stopped running around to concentrate on where his scent was coming from.
"I got it. It's coming from the park." Inuyasha said. They ran as fast as they could.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"It's shorter if we got through the park." Sango yelled.
"Let's go." Kagome said.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Miroku had just paid for the things he'd bought. Sure enough he was walking through the forest. He stopped when he heard rustling. He wasn't getting a good feeling about this.
When he sensed someone from behind he dropped the bag and turned around. "I know you're there so there's no point in hiding." Miroku said.
A man covered in a baboon skin walked out of the bushes. He smiled and held out his hand. Miroku took a step back but the baboon man was faster. He flicked his wrist and a black light shot out from his palm.
Miroku tried to move out of the way but the light hit his right hand. His hand felt like it was on fire before it felt like it was being ripped apart. When the black light went away he looked at his hand.
A huge black hole was in the middle of his palm. He fell to his knees from the pain. The baboon man laughed before disappearing. "That hole will suck in your loved ones until the curse is removed."
Miroku fell to the ground and groaned at the pain. `What the hell was that guy talking about?' Was his last thought before passing out into the welcoming darkness.
Sango and Kagome had ran into the forest. Kagome fell to the ground, tripping over an apple. "Itai." Kagome said.
"Are you ok?" Sango asked.
"Hai, someone dropped food all over the place." Kagome said.
"Miroku." Sango said. She looked around and saw a hand from behind some bushes. "Oh my god."
"Is that Miroku?" Kagome said. She got up ignoring the pain that shot through her body. She had been running full speed when she tripped.
They both slowly walked over to the hand hoping to the gods it wasn't Miroku. Sango gasped when the body came in full view. It was him. They both ran over to him. "Miroku! Miroku are you ok?" Sango yelled as she shook him.
Inuyasha and Shippo came from the opposite side of them. "He's over here." Inuyasha said. He stopped when he saw Sango holding Miroku and Kagome standing next to them. "What the fuck is going on?"
"Something's wrong with Miroku." Sango said. She was on the brink of crying.
"Don't just stand there help." Kagome said.
"What are we supposed to do?" Inuyasha said.
"We have to take him to his grandfather. He knows medicine and stuff like that." Sango said.
Inuyasha picked him up and they went to Miroku's house. Sango ran in and opened the door. She didn't bother to knock it would waste too much time. "Mushin!" Sango shouted.
"Hai, hai, I'm coming Sango what is it?" Mushin asked.
"Something happened to Miroku." Sango cried.
Mushin saw his grandson and ran upstairs. "Come on follow me. Put him down here and everyone wait outside the door." He said. He shoved everyone out and shut the door.
"He'll be all right Sango." Kagome said.
"What if he's not?" Sango let the tears come. She cried on Kagome's shoulder. Inuyasha and Shippo sat against the wall and stayed silent. Shippo didn't know what to say and Inuyasha was pissed that Kagome had left without him. He was frustrated too because he couldn't just yell or punish her for looking out for one of her friends.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A couple hours had passed and everyone was still waiting for any news on Miroku. Inuyasha, Shippo, and Sango were all leaning against the wall in the hallway. Sango was asleep and Kagome was resting in Inuyasha's lap.
Mushin came out of the room and waited for everyone to stand up. Shippo nudged Sango awake. "What's wrong? Is he ok?" Sango asked.
"He is fine. He's just sleeping right now." Mushin said.
"What happened to him?" Sango asked. Something was wrong.
"I'll explain when he wakes up." Mushin said. "Why don't you go in there Sango?"
Sango nodded and walked in. "You are welcome to sit in the living room." Mushin said to Miroku's friends.
"We'll be fine here. Thanks for your offer." Kagome said.
"Well I'll bring some tea then." Mushin said and walked downstairs.
Sango walked over to his bed. She knew it was his room. She had been there many times. She sat down and held his hand. She was surprised when he squeezed her hand. "Miroku are you ok?" She asked.
"Hai, I'm fine." He said. Noticed her eyes were red and puffy. "What's wrong?"
"I thought you were going to die or something." Sango said as new tears formed.
Miroku was surprised. It took a lot to get Sango emotional like she was now. "I'm fine now." He said. He wiped the tears away. "Don't cry it doesn't suit you."
Sango hugged him. "I'm glad you're ok." She said.
Mushin walked into the room. "Sango don't you think you should wait until he feels better until you molest him. Not that he minds." He said.
Sango blushed and moved to sit next to him. All her friends walked in. "Nice going Miroku finally the fates have turned things your way." Inuyasha said.
Kagome hit him with her shoulder. "Inuyasha!" She said.
"I guess you're all wondering what happened. I would like to speak with in private with Miroku but you all need to know." Mushin began. "Well Miroku was shot in his right hand with a curse."
"A curse?" Miroku said.
"Hai, this curse has created a void in Miroku's hand. It will suck anything that is in its way. I have sealed it off with a cloth and prayer beads. If removed we would all be sucked in so you must never remove it." Mushin said.
"Is that all to the curse? How do you break it?" Kagome asked.
"As Miroku ages the void will get bigger until it consumes him and everything around him." Mushin said. "This is an unusual curse. I don't think it's ever been used before. The only way to remove it is to kill the one who placed it. Until that person is dead the curse will be passed on to his children and his children's children and so on." Mushin said.
"Miroku do you know who did it?" Kagome asked.
"No, a man wearing a baboon skin came out of the bushes and a bright light came from his palm and hit my hand. He left saying `That hole will suck in your loved ones until the curse is removed.'" Miroku said.
"You'll be fine as long as you keep it covered." Mushin said. "I'll leave you to your friends now."
"Arigato Grandfather." Miroku said as he walked out of the room.
"So you're ok? You don't feel any pain? Are you hungry? Can I get something for you?" Sango asked.
"One question at a time Sango." Miroku laughed. "I'm fine and I don't need anything. You guys can go on ahead to the hotel I'll come when I've gotten some rest."
"See you later Miroku." Inuyasha said.
"I hope you feel better." Shippo said.
"Call if you need anything." Kagome said. She squealed as Inuyasha jerked her out of the room.
"You can go to Sango." Miroku said.
"I want to stay." Sango said. She laid next to him on his bed and snuggled up to him. "I'm glad you're all right."
Miroku smiled and wrapped an arm around her. When she fell asleep he thought about his hand. `Suck in all my loved ones?' he thought. `I'll make sure it never happens.' He kissed Sango's forehead before joining her in sleep.

"Inuyasha you didn't have to pull me out of the room like that." Kagome said.
"You're lucky I'm not going to punish you for leaving without me." Inuyasha said.
"What are you talking about? You left without me." Kagome said.
"You'd be safe at the hotel. What if something happened while you and Sango were running around outside without protection?" Inuyasha said.
"What was I supposed to do? I couldn't just stay there and wait for you to come back with some bad news about Miroku. Besides Sango was worried." Kagome said.
"I still don't want you to go anywhere without me." Inuyasha said.
"I can't promise that." Kagome said.
"Oh you will. If my memory serves right you still owe me for a while ago." Inuyasha said.
"That has nothing to do with what we were just talking about." Kagome said.
"I know I'm just reminding you." Inuyasha said.
"His head is too big to go long without gloating." Shippo said.
"Oi." Inuyasha said. "I don't gloat."
"Yes you do." Kagome said.
"No I don't." Inuyasha said. They argued all the way back to the hotel.
