Chapter 8

She felt him wrap his arms around her waist and heard his whispered words. What could she do? Running away surely wasn't an option he would just chase her and telling him would bring him into this long-going bloody mess. She justn't n't know what to do anymore. This was just too much for her to handle. First she found Inuyasha, then Swanson comes back, and of all people Naraku has started taunting her again. But surprising like those were the least of her worries. The worst part of it all was that the man she had once loved, she now hated with all her soul was back. Nothing he could ever do or say would ever change what he did or how she felt about him. She would never forgive him, she just cn't.n't.

Inuyasha stood there holding her. She hadn't moved or even said a single word. He was starting to get a little worried. Her scent kept changing constantly and unfortunately none of the moods he sensed her happy ones. He called out to her, yet she didn't answer. This time he called again only louder.

“Kagome.”

She heard him call out her name. Still did didn't know what to do, it was all so confusing. She wanted to scream, cry, and die all at the same time. Nothing ever happened like she wanted it too. Every gthinthing that she ever had was striped from her and this wouldn't be any different. She felt so helpless crying in his arms yet so safe from the outside world.

She turned around and clung to him tightly. She buried her face deeper into his hard chest. She could hear his t bet beat, so strong. Yet hers was so weak. She let her dam of un-fallen tears go. She just couldn't help, but cry her heart out.

He was to say the least surprised by her sudden actions. His demon side was pleased that she had ran to him for comfort not anyone else. However, both his demon and human side agreed on one thing they didn't like her tears. He really didn't know what to do; he had never comforted anyone before. He never had too; he was always the bad boy that rarely did anything nice, but she was different he felt compelled to comfort and keep her safe. Nothing would take her from him, he just let his instincts guide him. He pulled her close and lifted her in his arms. He walked back to his favorite tree and sat down against it with her cradled in his strong arms.

She held tightly to him even when she felt herself being lifted and carried. When he sat down with her, she snuggled closer into his warmth.
“I don't know what to do anymore.”

He held her closer in return and rocked her gently back and forth. She looked so small and fragile in his arms. He had just barely heard her speak. Her voice had been so low and filled with what seem like pain and sadness mixed together. He nuzzled his cheek into her silky midnight locks.
“It's ok; just tell me what's wrong. I can help.”

She stayed still for a moment just letting him rock her. She took a few deep breaths to make the tears subside. She sighed. His voice was so confident and full of conviction. He actually thought he could fix everything, but she could only wish that it was true. She knew that now he wouldn't back down, he would just hound her for answers she didn't want to give. If she couldn't let him go then she would just have to tell him. He just didn't know what he was getting himself into.

“I don't know where to even start. It all brings back painful memories, yet I feel like I can trust you enough to tell you. But I can promise you that you won't like anything I'm about to tell you.”

“It's ok. Just tell me who has you so scared and who was that Swanson guy? And…exactly what is your involvement with Naraku? Did he hurt you? Did anyone hurt you?”

He knew it all came out in a jumbled mess, but he needed to know who would hurt her and why. She was his bitch and no one would lay a damn hand on her except him. The thought of someone less touching her made him sick.

She took another deep breath and stared out into the park. She didn't exactly know where to begin with everything he had asked her. So she started from the beginning or at least her beginning.

“What has me so scared? The man I once loved, yet have grown loathe with everything that I am. He was the man of my own flesh and blood, my father. And I say `was' because after all that he did I could never think of him as my father, only has a beast.”

He held to her and rubbed his cheek on the top of her head. He could feel and smell her sadness, hatred, and pain. He could also smell the tears starting to swell in her eyes. Why would her own father scare her like this and why would she hate the man that gave her life so deeply? He listened quietly, listening to her quickening heart beat, waiting for her to continue.

“He scares me so much, because he…he…”

She shuttered and took another deep breath as mental images of her father ran through her mind. This wasn't going to be easy.

“He beat me, my brother, and my mother.” She took a few more deep breaths as the tears began to fall. “I won't go into details, but in the end he beat my brother to death and raped my mother repeatedly all while I watched. I was so small at the time, so young. I don't even know if he knew I was awake or watching him for the matter. He never looked back, he just left. He just left my brother there to die in a bloody heap and my mother was curled into fetal position on the carpet.”

She took in a few more deep breaths as he let his hand travel through her hair in a soothing motion.

“I…I…held my brother as he died. His last words were `Daddy, why?' I could hear my mother's whimpers as just laid there and I saw the tears streaming down her face. I didn't understand any of it at the time. Only that my brother was dead, taken from me, and that my mother was hurt. I never really knew what had happened until I got older, and that's when I started to hate him. But if anything I think my mother was lucky one out of us all. She doesn't remember anythingt hat happened that night. In fact, she just thinks that he disappeared and that my brother was murder by someone else. She doesn't know that I know what really happened, and I won't ever tell her. She doesn't need to deal with anymore pain than she has already suffered.”He dHe didn't know what to say. Her tears were streaming down her face and just wouldn't stop coming. His eyes were bleeding red. If he ever saw that man he would kill him ever so slowly. To think that someone's own father would harm them in such a way was revolting. He would not let anyone cause her pain ever again. He needed to calm himself down before his urge to destroy something or someone started to take over. He bent his head down to the crook of her neck and inhaled scenscent deeply, his eyes slowly turning back to their original golden color. He needed to hear the entire story, and he also need to stay strong for her.

He stood with her still wrapped in his tight embrace. He felt the need to take her somewhere safe. Somewhere he could protect her at any cost. He began leaping into the air and jumping from tree to tree.

She squeezed her eyes shut and grabbed onto him for dear life. This was not something she had expected.

“What are you doing?”

“Don't worry your safe with me. We'll be on the ground in no time. Just trust me will ya? I won't let you fall.”

“Ok.”

That was all she needed. She did trust him. She barely knew him yet she trusted him with her life and told him some of her dark past. Things she had never told anyone before. Things that she would have rather kept to herself. His embrace was so warm and safe, she couldn't help but fall asleep with in his protectiveness.

He looked down to the sleeping girl that rested in his arms. He didn't want to ever let her go, but they were almost there.

He jumped onto the open balcony and walked inside gently carrying his precious cargo. He laid her down on his bed. He took of her shoes and his jacket that she wore. He pulled down the covers and got into bed beside her after ridding himself of his shirt and shoes. He spooned her from behind and let his hand drape over her stomach and his head nuzzled into the crook of her neck. She needed to rest and he would let her. Later he would hear the rest of the story but it could wait until she was up to it. He drifted into a light sleep pulling her closer against him.
