She was utterly seething with fury. Her fists were balled tightly at her sides with her arms hung stiffly with them. Her short choppy brown hair hung carelessly around her red heart shaped face. Although the couple setting before her could see the anger roll of her in waves of heat they could also make out the black circles under her eyes and worry etched into her furrowed brows. It was quite apparent that she had been up most of the night if not the entire night.
Both of the on looker shrunk back into there seats as she began to rant and rave for the third time in the last hour or so. She lectured on and on about their misbehavior and lack of respect for others only stopping to take a deep breath here and there.
She turned her raging form towards the young man with the cutest puppy dog ears she had ever seen, but that would not sway her in reprimanding him although she did want to just reach out and pet them. He had not only kept her daughter out all damned night, but he had also yelled at her over the phone as if she was a worthless piece of trash. She took another breath to calm herself, however it only proved to be futile.
“Young man!”
The young `man' in question looked up to see that the woman about to scream at him was standing only a few inches away from his face. A little too close for comfort if you asked him, yet he said nothing. Normally he would not tolerate such treatment and disrespect, but this was no normal situation or woman. This woman had him shaking in his boots. He really hoped her daughter didn't get like this, but from what his had seen yesterday he sure had high suspicions. Like they say mother like daughter…
“Yes.” He stated evenly.
“Why was my daughter at your house?” she said between clenched teeth.
“She fell asleep.”
“So…you took her to your house?”
“Yeah”
“And if never crossed your mind that maybe you should take her to her own house?”
“Um, no” He was started to get a bit nervous she defiantly had a way of corning people.
He looked over to the raven-haired beauty sitting next to him. He reached out to take her hand, but didn't miss the glare that was sent his way by the pissed off mother.
The angry woman looked to the couple holding hands, glaring. She did not like his young man with her daughter, not one bit.
“What are your intentions with my daughter?” she snapped.
He had heard the coldness and challenge in her voice but didn't back down. It would be a cold day in Hell before he backed down from anyone…even if it could mean death.
“My intentions are to court her, problem with it?” He was really starting to get pissed; he didn't like his intentions to be questions.
“If you continue with your attitude I will have a rather large problem. If you even so much as think about hurting my daughter I will tear you into pieces. Do I make myself clear?” She stated calmly as if it was the most natural reaction in the world.
His eyes went wide. Being torn to pieces didn't sound every inviting. Normally he wouldn't have been shocked or frightened because no one talked to him like that. But this was different; this woman was drop dead serious. He had no doubts that if she wouldn't go through with her threat. Matter of a fact he couldn't even believe that he was still in one piece.
Kagome was to say in the least bit surprised when her mother threatened Inuyasha. She never thought she had it in her. `You go Mom!' Well, at least now she knew where she got her terrible temper from… Noticing that the situation wasn't getting any better she quickly stepped in.
“Mom, I'll be fine. Inuyasha's a good guy and if you'd give him half a chance you'd be able to see that first hand.”
Inuyasha smirked. Mrs. Higurashi glared back at him. She looked over to her daughter and gave a defeated sigh.
“I suppose one chance wouldn't hurt…”
Kagome ditched Inuyasha's hand and took her mother into a tight embrace.
“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so much Mama!”
She gently pulled away, grabbed Inuyasha's hand, and yanked him out the door with her while she told her mother than she loved her and would be back later.
