Tom: Here's chapter one, enjoy it and I don't wanna muse right now so bite me.

"Ryu"

A demon stumbled across the field in the twilight, running in terror of the beast following it. The glow in it's red and violet eyes made it's intent to kill plain as the day that would rise over this demon's cadaver. "No, please, leave me alone! I know nothing of who you seek, I have only met a man wearing baboon skin! He is all I have been near these past few days!" His pursuer did not let up nor did it seem to have heard his pleading. A root caught his foot causing the demon to trip and land flat on his face, the monster was on him in an instant and a blade rose and fell almost instantly, the demon's dying screams shattering the crisp night air.

"This is the twelfth body we've come across in our travels, who could be murdering all of these demons?" Miroku thought out loud while standing up from the mangled corpse. "Are you sure it's the same scent Inuyasha?" The hanyou snorted, "I'm sure, there aren't many that smell like this guy and the bites, scratches and cuts are almost the same as the last ones that weren't burnt or somehow rotted to nothing." Sango and Kagome walked over to them from the village after getting some information on the dead demon. "According to some of the people living there, this demon was just a merchant passing through, whoever killed him must've done it in cold blood, because nothing was stolen and his shop's still intact aside from the door that was torn off it's hinges. It must be another demon, but I don't know of any that can rot flesh so easily like that last one we found." Sango informed them. "The real question is, what do all the demons we've found before have in common, this can't just be random killings. The one we're seeing the work of seems to have been too determined to kill for it to just be a demon looking for food or murdering for the sheer joy of it." Miroku deduced. Shippo just looked at the demon with a little fear of what killed him. "The weird thing is, the demon smells like a lizard or something, but at the same time it doesn't, like a creature much older than that." Inuyasha suddenly twitched slightly and smacked at his neck, pulling it back with a flattened Myoga in hand. "Grr, Myoga! would ya quit doin that, what are you doing here anyway?" Myoga popped back into shape and looked nervously at the late demon just a few feet away. "Lord Inuyasha, it's about the dravern." He said. "A what, what the hell is a dravern?" "Well, it is a creature that is a crossbreed of the two different lesser dragon creatures drakes and wyverns. It can breathe elemental power like drakes and dragons, but these cuts, it's not from a sword or dagger, it's the creature's wyvern heritage, a long tail with a barb at the end of it, wyverns usually used it to catch food or defend themselves." The little flea demon explained. Inuyasha raised an eyebrow. "If you knew about this thing the whole time why didn't you tell us about it before!?" Myoga sweat dropped and chuckled nervously. "Well, uh, you see, we thought the dravern demons were extinct, this is the first time I've seen the leavings of one in years. the other bodies that were burned and rotted prove this dravern can use the power of fire and a form of darkness. The reason the breath rotted was because I believe this dravern may also know some sort of magic that hasn't been used for eons. The last dravern demon I can remember was a friend of your father's. Unfortunately, Shokejinse was murdered some number of years ago." Inuyasha continued glaring at him. "Myoga, I think there's still something you're not telling us, this one smells like it's only half demon like me." Myoga started to scratch his head in contemplation. "Hmm, oh, Shokejinse did have a human wife, some believe that's why he had been murdered, I still say it was Naraku who did it though. (A/N: If Naraku's not as old as this is saying he is, this is my story he is now.) And I doubt he'd have someone like Shokejinse killed over a human, he was far stronger than Naraku or most other demons would ever dream of being, Shokejinse has been said to have been strong enough to kill someone even when they were using the Shikon Jewel. What confuses me is I don't remember Shokejinse or your father ever saying anything about the human having a child." "Feh, whatever, if this guy's murdering demons that are harmless enough it looks like we gotta kill him anyway." Inuyasha growled. "I have to agree with Inuyasha on this, killing demons for no good reason has to be treated the same way as killing humans. It just isn't fair to let demons deal with something themselves when they need protection too." Kagome said. They soon buried the demon in a plot the villagers let them use and were off to track down the strange new creature that was behind the murders. A few hours later they heard something roar and blows being traded between demons, Inuyasha sniffed at the air. "It's him, whoever he's fighting was probably a victim that he underestimated." When they got through the trees to the clearing the noise was coming from they were met with a seven foot creature with dark brown skin and azure twenty three foot wings, the only other feature they could make out was its crimson hair that fell to mid back since its back was turned to them. Soon it struck the other demon in the head and while stunned, seized his throat in its claws. "Where is he, where is the one that gave you that damn shard? He has murders to answer for, where is he!?" The demon only smirked. "I found this Sacred Jewel shard myself, as for you parents, hanyou, it's not my problem that you're on a hunt for someone who killed a bastard's father and his human bitch." Inuyasha and Kagome had snuck around and from their side view saw the dravern's eyes narrow and fill with a murderous flame as it hissed coldly. "don't you ever, insult my family!" he finished with a yell, his tail rose and fell, ripping into the demon's gut only to be torn out and begin a flurry of slashes with it that rendered the demon to a pile of gore, bones and fleshy strips in seconds. He then stepped back and breathed a black cloud that wreaked of death and almost sent Inuyasha reeling into view as the cloud enveloped and dissolved the gory remains to a black stain on the ground. He then felt six pairs of eyes on him and turned to see Inuyasha and the others. 'A monk, a slayer, an inu hanyou, a kitsune youkai, and a strangely clad priestess, whoever they are, they inarguably bear the scent of the murderer. Now to find out what allegiance they hold to him.' He turned his full attention to them and spread his wings out widely. "I am Ryu, son of the great dravern demon, Shokejinse! I smell the killer of him and my mother on you, tell me who you are and what allegiance you have with him!" They looked from one to the other trying to figure out who the dravern meant. "We can't tell you anything if we don't know who the hell you're talking about." Inuyasha growled. "You must know him if I can smell him upon you all. The only thing I know is it's the same stench that desecrated my parents' bodies. the bastard raped my mother before killing her! I have to find him before he can hurt anyone else. Grr, I will find him and send him to his namesake for his crimes." Kagome suddenly gasped. "He means Naraku." Ryu let out a deep growl. "I knew you knew who I meant. Where is he?" Inuyasha snorted. "If we knew we'd have killed him ourselves by now." This time, the dravern snorted. "Really, and what "noble" reasons do you have to kill him, to claim that worthless rock, the Shikon Jewel?" Sango hung her head and Miroku stared at his hand. "He attacked our village and killed my family." Sango murmured, "He cursed mine with a hole that will eventually suck me into its own endless depths." Miroku added. Ryu's features suddenly slackened and looked as though he were a creature that had seen far too many years and hardships. "Forgive me, I did not fully recover from my rage. I had no intention to make you relive your sorrows as vividly as I can sense. I had been hoping these last two centuries he had gone into hiding and was too afraid of being attacked to cause anymore suffering, it is apparent I hoped in vain." Ryu then bowed deeply to Sango and Miroku and muttered something in a strange language, then stood again. "Come, there is a village north of here, I can take you there quickly and save you hours of walking." Ryu offered. "Feh, how are you gonna do that, there's no way you're big enough to carry all of us." Inuyasha quipped, the dravern gave him a crooked, toothy grin, "That is where you are wrong, hanyou." He tossed the shard from the black stain to Kagome and was enveloped in a violet cloud similar to what he breathed on the demon, when it disappeared, Ryu had tripled in size, had grown large spikes and was hugging the ground to get low enough for them to climb onto his back. In a few moments it was left to Shippo struggling to get up, Ryu loosed a deep booming laugh and used his tail to push the little kitsune onto his back. "The humans there know me and are rarely frightened by my appearance on the horizon. Oh and, make sure you get a firm grip on my spines, they aren't sharp and I suggest this unless you are set on free falling several hundred feet." He immediately felt Kagome and Shippo latch to the spikes and let out another booming laugh then took flight and soared to the heavens.
