When Orend walked out she couldn't help but notice he was still rather flustered.
"You had better forget what you saw today, that is unless you want a Goddesses wrath." Orend warns.
Owen stood there worriedly and started to think.
<I never thought of that, What if she finds out and thinks I'm untrustworthy or a pig? Worse what if she punishes me?>
"So tell me how do you know she is the Wind Goddess?" Orend asks looking back at the door nervously.
"When she ran into the forest to escape the demon I followed her intending to save her. While I was there….
~~~~~~~FLASHBACK~~~~~~~
"Your mine now!" The demon shouts.
"No! I want to live!" Ah Kun shouts and starts to glow.
"What?" The slayer asks out loud when he appears.
"What is that light?" The demon asks out loud.
"This is your true form and your real name is Wind Goddess." The voice says like the whispering of the trees.
Sarita snaps open her eyes and they focus on the demon charging her.
"Sorrows Flame!" Sarita shouts and flames shoot out from her open palms enveloping the demon.
"Kyaaa!" The demon shouts in agony and is reduced to a pile of ashes.
~~~~~~~~END FLASHBSCK~~~~~~~~~~~~
"But I still don't understand how she could be the Wind Goddess and not believe in demons." Orend asks after Owen is done with his story.
"It seems her memory was lost in her old time and it has just now been recovered." Owen explains to the high priestess.
"I should probably go now, Lady Fuyu should be here soon." Owen says and hurries away to join his fellow slayers.
As Owen approaches his companions he spots a stall full of jewelry for sale. One piece in particular caught his eye. It was a light sky blue crystal attached to a leather cord by a bit of silver. Owen stopped short and stared for a long time till the merchant spoke up.
"I see you fancy this piece of jewelry sir." The merchant speaks up snapping Owen out of his thoughts.
"How much are you selling it for?" Owen asks curiously.
"Two silver pieces." The merchant says hastily.
"Why so low a price for such fine work as this? And why so quick to sell?" Owen asks.
"This particular piece was said to have belonged to a Goddess a long time ago when the war had just begun. It was found at the edge of a healing spring next to a blue kimono. I thought it was left on accident so searched for the owner but found no one. I took it hoping it would bring luck." The merchant explains.
"So why so eager? Did it bring bad luck?" Owen asks.
"No but sometimes on cold lonely nights I dreamt of a young maiden who wept." The old merchant says with misty eyes as if in a dreamer's trance.
"I'll buy it for your price." Owen says and hands him the two silver coins.
The old man takes the coins and hands him the necklace as if burned his hands. Owen took the necklace and placed in a pouch at his waist. He then continued on his way to his comrades.
"What did you buy a piece of jewelry for? You have a new lover?" The man with long brown hair asks.
"No! If you must know Akio I bought it for the Wind Goddess." Owen says hotly.
"The what?!" His two companions shout.
"The wind Goddess is here she's in her temple right now." Owen says calmly.
"Are you sure it's her?" The female asks.
"Yes Kitra I am sure if you want to know more ask her yourself or ask Orend." Owen suggests.
"We cant right now we have to go to the next town. You stay here since it seems your occupied we will return in seven days." Kitra says in a sisterly and knowing way.
"Alright but if you need help please send for me." Owen requests.
"Don't worry we will if we have need of you." Kitra says reassuringly.
"Thank you for trusting me alone." Owen says and heads back towards the temple.
Kitra and Akio turn and walk away into the forest. Owen walks into the temple and bows to the statue of the Wind Goddess.
"It falls utterly short doesn't it?" Orend asks Owen quietly.
"Yes it sure can't catch her spirit and glowing essence." Owen answers in a breathless sigh.
"Can you please keep an eye on her while me and Lady Fuyu take a walk?" Orend asks in the same quiet tone.
"Sure just please don't stay to long, you know more about the Wind Goddess then I do." Owen says and turns to walk into the room.
"Be careful she might be a little confused when she wakes up." Orend warns and walks out of the temple.
Owen walks into the room and sits next to the bed on a stool. Owen watches Sarita sleep and remembers his older sister. Owen sighs and brushes some of her hair out of her face. Sarita moans slightly and shifts away from his hand. Owen sighs again and rests his back against the wall.
~~~~~~~FLASHBACK~~~~~~~~~
"Owen!" A girl shouts into the night.
"Owen where are you?" The girl shouts again.
"Over here!" Owen shouts.
Owen's sister appears from behind a tree.
"What are you doing out here at this time of night?" Owen's sister asks concerned.
"I couldn't sleep I wanted to come out here and look at the moon." Owen says and looks up at the full moon.
"You should come home now." Owen's sister says kindly reaching for him.
"Not until you catch me!" Owen yells and playfully runs away from her.
"Owen! Come on demons are out here!" Owen's sister shouts and runs after him.
Owen runs faster and can't see her anymore.
"AHHH!!!" Owen hears an earsplitting scream.
"Where are you?! Sister!" Owen shouts but hears nothing.
"What's a pretty girl like you doing out in the woods?" Owen hears a gruff male voice ask.
"My brother is here now please let me go I need to find him." Owen's sister says and tries to pull out of the demons grip.
"But I wanted to have some fun." The demon says in a voice like a growl.
Owen looks around the tree to see a wolf demon holding both his sisters' wrists.
"Let me go please I don't want a demon child." Owen's sister screams.
The demon pushed her down on the ground and used his claws to rid her of her clothing. All Owen could hear were screams but he couldn't help but look. The demon rids himself of his own clothing. The demon then holds her wrists above her head and thrusts fully into her. Owen's sister screams in pain but soon quiets. This is then followed by moans from the demon and whimpers from his sister. It took only a few minutes but when it was over the demon left with his sister over his shoulder. Owen was to frightened to move so he stayed still the thought that it was all his fault running through his head.
~~~~~~~END FLASHBACK~~~~~~~
Owen looked up to see that Sarita was finally awake and was watching him closely. He had been asleep.
"Uh…" Owen stutters and sits up from his slouched position.
Sarita stifles a laugh when she notices he was drooling.
"Ahem!" Sarita motions with the sleeve of her kimono to wipe it off.
"Oh!" Owen blushes when he feels the wetness on his cheek.
"Who are you?" Sarita asks sitting up fully but only succeeded in gasping in pain and holding her chest in pain.
"Are you alright?" Owen asks concerned but refraining from touching her.
"Yeah it just hurts a little." Sarita says and coughs a little.
"Here drink this." Owen says and gives Sarita a cup full of some kind of liquid.
"What is it?" Sarita asks after sniffing it a little.
"Tea, it will help to soothe your coughing." Owen says and pushes it back towards her.
Sarita drinks it all but has the look of a child drinking cough syrup.
"Oh that was horrible." Sarita says and gags for effect.
"I know it tastes bad but it will help a lot." Owen says and places the cup back on the table.
"Where am I?" Sarita asks when she notices the room she's in.
"You're in your temple. This is to be your room for the time being." Owen says.
"My room?" Sarita asks and looks around the room.
<This isn't my room, where are my stuffed animals? My TV? My wind chimes? My paintings?>
"No! This isn't my room it looks nothing like my room! I want to go home! I want to go back to Tokyo!" Sarita screams and runs to the door.
Owen jumps up and grabs her arm to stop her.
"What are you doing? Don't you remember what happened in the forest? You can't go back!" Owen says and tries to keep a hold of her but she is struggling and is very strong.
"Let me go! Please I need to go home!" Sarita begs and tries to push him away.
All she ends up doing is causing herself to trip and fall back into Owen. Owen than falls over and holds her to his chest to protect her from the fall. As soon as they land Sarita pushes away from him and dives for the door in a desperate attempt to be free. As soon as her hand touches the handle she feels a hand grab her upper arm roughly.
"You can't go you know that so just give up your Tokyo." Owen says gently.
When he feels her body go limp he pulls her into a warm embrace.
"I need to go home I don't belong here." Sarita says between sobs.
"You cant I'm sorry but you can have a life here to." Owen says and picks her up like a little child.
Owen places her back on the bed and digs out the necklace he had purchased. Owen held it out to her and smiled.
"That's my… amulet." Sarita says in a breathless voice and reaches for it.
Once the amulet touches her hand it starts to glow a pale blue color.
"I got it from an old man who said he found it by a blue kimono." Owen says and sits back.
"So you already knew it belonged to me?" Sarita asks annoyed.
"I did and thought you would want it back." Owen says.
"Well thank you but I didn't necessarily want it back." Sarita says kindly and puts it on.
"Why not?" Owen asks puzzled.
"Its what sent me away to begin with." Sarita says and covers herself back up and turns from him.
"Well you don't seem to want to get rid of it." Owen points out.
"That's because it holds almost half of my power you idiot." Sarita snaps.
"Well why would you want to place your power in an object that can be stolen?" Owen asks.
"No man would dare steal from a goddess." Sarita points out.
"Why not?" Owen asks.
"Tell me are you not afraid of a goddesses wrath?" Sarita asks.
"Well I am but why would that stop a true thief?" Owen asks.
"That's easy, if anyone ever dared to steal from me they would be condemned on the spot." Sarita answers and yawns.
