InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Saritas passage ❯ Sarita's faithful ways ( Chapter 4 )

They stood ready and alert for whatever may come but nothing happened.

"What was that?" Sarita asks holding onto Owens arm.

"I don't know but it didn't sound good." Owen says and starts to sit back down.

Before Owen could stop her Sarita ran towards the noise at great speed.

"Sarita get back here!" Owen shouts angrily running after her.

"I want to know what that was!" Sarita yells back.

They come to a clearing and in the middle was a river and sitting next to it glowing softly in the moonlight was a young demon female. The female was crying over a body of a man.

"What happened here?" Sarita asks softly.

"My father! My Father!" The demon yells over and over again.

"What happened to him?" Sarita asks.

"We were attacked… he tried to save me but was killed when you showed up the demon ran." The demon lets out a pitiful howl and leans over her fallen father tears shining in the moonlight.

"What are you?" Owen asks warily.

"What does she look like? She's a demon idiot." Sarita growls.

"Why aren't you attacking us?" Owen asks.

"We like humans part of our family is human and half breeds." The demon replies and strokes her father's hair.

"What kind of demon are you?" Sarita asks.

"I'm a bird demon." The demon responds.

"Do you need some help?" Sarita asks.

"Can you help me bury him?" The demon asks standing up.

"Sure we can help you bury him in the morning as soon as the sun rises." Sarita says and takes a step toward her.

Owen stops her and holds her back protectively.

"Owen what are you doing?" Sarita asks angrily.

"Please if you won't help me bury him before I die can you please take care of my daughter I hide her a few feet away next to an oak tree." The demon asks and falls over dead.

Sarita runs forward and feels for a pulse but cant find one so she heads away from Owen.

"Where are you going?" Owen asks jogging up to her.

"She asked us to care for her daughter so I better go find her before she gets killed." Sarita says looking straight ahead.

Sarita looks straight ahead and keeps walking totally ignoring Owens protests.

"Look if we take in her daughter it could mean that we will have to return to the village and we will put the villagers in danger." Owen protests and tries to stop her.

Sarita jerks her arm away from him and spots the tree with a female demon sleeping underneath it. The demon appeared to be 5 or 6 and a full-blooded youkai. Sarita walked up to the tree and knelt by the young girl and pets her hair.

"Wake up" Sarita says softly and nudges the girl awake.

"Who are you! Where's my Mom and my Grandpa?" The young demon looks around and spots Owen standing behind Sarita.

"Your Mom and her Father are dead, she asked me to care for you so I will if you want me to." Sarita says kindly.

"My mommy! No! Not my mommy!" The girl starts to cry and grabs onto Sarita and cries into her chest.

"I'm sorry but we will care for you as long as you need us to." Sarita says and picks her up.
