Seven Days Ago:

Kagome woke up with the biggest headache of her life.  “Why do I feel like I drank too much Barcardi?”  She asked herself as her hand went to her forehead.

She opened her eyes and was slightly taken off guard.  She was outside.

She looked around the shrine grounds.  Night had fallen.

'Why did I fall asleep out here?'

That is when the memory of the man with the menacing red eyes clothed in black came to her mind.

She quickly scanned the grounds as her heart sped up in her chest.  Finally, after knowing that no other person was there, she let out a sigh of relief.

“Maybe it was just an apparition,” she told herself.

She got up off of the cool surface of the ground.  The stone surface left marks on her body.  She knew she had been lying out there for a while.

'But what is that book,' she thought as she tapped her chin.  “The code.”

Who could she even ask about a book that she had never heard of herself.

“Kagome?”

She stopped in her steps.  Her heartbeat became irregular.  This couldn't be happening again.

She turned around, and her breath left her lungs.

His ocher eyes were glowing so surreal.  He looked like an unearthly being.

He could tell that he had made her uncomfortable.  He could see it in her eyes.  He could smell it in the air.

He moved towards her, and she immediately took a step back.

However, a new scent reached his nose.

He scanned the grounds, and he was grateful that the man had left, but the feeling of dread began this small pulse he felt in his gut.

“Was someone here, Kagome?”

Her eyes widened, “how did you –”

She could not finish the question.  The idea that he had been that frightening man with glowing red eyes was just too much.

“Can we go inside to talk?” He asked her.  He could tell she was frightened, but he didn't feel calm.  He did, however, feel like someone was watching them.

She felt bumps crawl along her arms.  “I don't think that's the best idea.”

“Damnit Kagome, let's just go into the house,” he told her as he grabbed her arm.

“Let go of me, InuYasha,” she told him as she tried to get him to loosen his hold on her arm.

He turned around to face her, “you can feel it, can't you?”

He didn't know why he asked her that.  It seemed such an odd question to ask a human, but for some reason he just knew she could.

She looked into his ocher eyes and slightly nodded her head, “what is –”

He covered her mouth with his finger.  He leaned his head close to her own and whispered.  “They might be able to hear you,” he told her cautiously.

She felt her heartbeat speed up.  She looked into his eyes worriedly as she grabbed his outstretched hand.

She didn't have time to focus on the electricity that always turned her belly into butterflies.  She was scared – truly terrified.

Finally, they made it into her mothers home.  InuYasha rushed in ahead of her.  She was not real sure what he was doing, but he came back almost immediately.

He placed his hands over her shoulders, “tell me what happened.”

He was grateful the man's smell did not reach the home.  He had feared he was inside.

She tightly closed her eyes.  She wanted to cry.  This seemed like it was a bad dream.

“There was a man,” she told him finally.

His golden eyes searched over her features.  She was barely holding it together.

He nodded his head, “you want to go sit down?”

She briefly nodded her head.  She needed to sit.  She suddenly felt dizzy and sick.

He helped her to the sitting room.  Her hand lingering on his arm.

He didn't need to start thinking about other ways her hands could move over his body.  He needed to get answers from her.

She brought her hands together and placed them in her lap.  It was quiet for a few moments which he was grateful for.  He needed to put his thoughts together.  He needed to think of the proper way to ask her what he needed.

“How did you know?”

His eyes widened, “know what?”

She looked sadly up at him, “how did you know about that man?”

He broke eye contact with her, 'Damnit.'

He knew it was a stupid idea.  He should have just stayed at his uncles house, but there was some weird call that beckoned him.  It was like this unconscious director.  He could only follow.  That is when he happened upon her.  She was getting up off the ground which led them to where they are now.

He lifted his shoulders, “I guess I just knew.”

He knew he needed to be honest with her.  She was still overwhelmingly scared, but he didn't want to give too much away.

“What do you think he was after?”

He turned his gaze back on her, “what did he tell you?”

Her eyes widened as she looked down at her clasped hands, “what does that matter?”

“Keh, it matters a lot,” he told her gruffly, although he tried really hard to be more gentle in his tone then usual.

She lightly closed her eyes as she went through her memories, “he told me that I am a priestess.”

She wanted to start with that.  If he didn't believe that then there was no way she was going to tell him about the book.

After a few moments and no remark, she looked back in his direction.

He was staring out the front window.

“Aren't you going to say anything,” she asked him hotly.

His ocher eyes locked unto hers, “what did you want me to say?” He asked as he felt his temper raise.  He thought that she needed her space.  He didn't understand why she was getting upset with him.

“That it's stupid,” she shot back.

InuYasha rolled his eyes, “and why would you being a miko be stupid?”

She opened her mouth a moment before a blush crossed her face, “it's just... no one believes in those things.  It's like angels and demons... they don't exist.”

InuYasha shook his head, 'you have no idea.'

“Well, I believe in them,” he told her carefully.

Kagome looked over at him, “you do?”

He laughed at her, “I guess that makes me a crazy person,” he told her as he lifted his shoulders.

She looked out the window, “I don't think it makes you a crazy person.”

InuYasha laughed, “that is what the normal people always tell the crazy people, and then they lock them in homes for the mentally insane.”

Kagome shook her head as a smile crossed her face, “I am serious.  I believe in them too.”

His eyes widened, “you do?”

She lifted her shoulders.  “It's hard not to when there are so many things that I see that can't be explained any other way,” she told him as she turned to look into his eyes.

He felt a blush stain his cheeks.  He didn't know what it was about Kagome, but butterflies in his stomach... yeah that was not normal when he was around a girl.

“I guess,” he told her finally, though he would never tell her how much her answer really affected him.

“What else did he tell you?”

Her eyes widened, “nothing.”

He narrowed his eyes at her.  He knew she was lying.  He heard what she whispered when she thought no one was around.

“I know he told you something else, Kagome.”

She looked at him.  “And how would you know that?” she asked him hotly.

“Because I do,” he told her.  He was trying to keep his temper under control.

She rolled her eyes at him, “Well I guess your magic doesn't work here, because that is the only thing he told me.”

“Damnit Kagome.  I know he told you something else.”

She looked into his eyes.  They stared at each other with fire in their orbs, “tell me InuYasha, how would you know?”

He felt his eyeball twitch.

“Whatever,” he told her as he stood up.

“What are you doing?”

“Leaving.”

Kagome clenched her fist, “You are such a baka!”

InuYasha turned around.  He was fast.  Almost too fast to be human, “look whose talking, bitch?” He fired at her.

Her mouth hung open a moment, before she tightly closed it.  “What did you call me?”

The calm she spoke with was far from reach.  Her blood was boiling.

InuYasha turned around and came closer to her, “Oh, now your ears don't work.  I called you a bitch.”

She tightly closed her eyes, “take it back.”

He crossed his arms over his chest as he let out a sarcastic laugh, “and who is going to make me?”

She opened her eyes, “take it back now.”

InuYasha felt his eyes widen.  Kagome was looking at him with glowing blue eyes and a fury to match, but what took him most off guard was her hands.  Blue balls of flame surrounded each of her clenched palms.

“What, now you're deaf?” She taunted when she saw the look on his face.

He looked into her eyes, 'she looks just like the Kagome from my dreams.'

There was this need to go over and comfort the woman before him.  It was so strong that he thought that if he refused he might die.  Without another thought, he ran over to her and engulfed her small frame in his arms.

She suddenly felt so stiff.

“InuYasha?”

Her voice was soft even to her own ears.

He leaned his forehead against hers, “forgive me.”

He sounded so heartbroken that it took her off guard.

She grabbed his face in her hands, “I –”

She didn't know what to say to him.  She didn't even understand her own emotions at the moment.

He tightly closed his eyes, “I always  manage to fuck things up.”

She let out a long sigh, “He told me to find out about this book called the code.”

His eyes immediately shot open as he moved away from her slightly.

'So I did hear her correctly.'

She crossed her arms over her body.  She suddenly felt so cold without his warmth around her. “I don't even know where to start getting information,” she told him honestly.

“I – I need to go,” he told her in a rush.

She looked worriedly at him, “you can't just go.”

He smiled apologetically at her, “Sorry, I just remembered I have a meeting with my father.”

Kagome shook her head.  “You can't just walk in here and cause me to have these weird feelings towards you,” she told him with anger.

“And why do I keep dreaming about you?” She continued without thinking.

He suddenly felt his breath leave him.

“You... dream about me?”  This had to be too good to be true.

“You and Akio... all the time,” she told him before she knew what she was saying.

He felt a scowl cross his face, “you dream about him?”

She felt her cheeks redden as she bit her lip.“Yes,” she didn't know why she thought that he would be able to tell if she was lying.

InuYasha was glad her back was turned to him.  He didn't want her to see how much her answer affected him.

“Whatever.”

“Wait,” Kagome yelled at him, “you never answered me.”

“I am really not in the mood for your weird mind games right now,” he told her as he made his way to the door.

“InuYasha Takahashi if you walk out of that door –”

“Neechan, we –”

Souta looked at the duo in front of him.  “InuYasha?”

He was not expecting to see him here.  It was a while from Tokyo.

InuYasha collected himself, “Souta.  How are you,” he asked him as he gave him a firm handshake.

Souta was a bit at odds with himself, “good I guess.”

“Kagome, dear, we picked up some – oh, and who might this handsome young gentleman be?” Mrs. Higurashi asked when she walked into the room.

“InuYasha, what are you doing here?”

“Miroku?”

The dark haired male smiled at him, “Aw, I suppose my friend missed his favorite lead singer?”

InuYasha rolled his eyes.  The wag in his friends eyebrows was a little too much, “I am visiting family.”

“Why are you here?”

Miroku turned to look at Kagome.  “We –”

“Sango, Rin, Ayame,” Kagome interrupted upon seeing her three friends. The smile almost cutting her face in half.

She rushed to her friends and surrounded the three in a group hug.

Miroku decided that this was the best moment to rub as many rear ends and get away with it.  He went around Rin and Kagome.  He too had a smile that cut his face in half.

“Unless Kagome is rubbing my butt, Miroku is going to be a dead man,” Rin grumbled.

“Likewise,” Kagome replied as the four women turned to face him.

Immediately, they crossed their arms over their chests.

Miroku raised his hands close to his face, “my hands have done no wrong.”

At that precise moment, Souta and InuYasha bopped him over the head.

Souta turned to face InuYasha, “I knew there was a reason I liked you.”

He grinned at the young man, “likewise.”

“Oh dear,” Mrs. Higurashi replied when Miroku landed on the ground.

“Don't worry about him mom,” Kagome told her as she rolled her eyes.

Mrs. Higurashi shook her head, “Poor boy doesn't ever learn.”

“You got that right,” Souta grumbled.

“You going to stay for dinner, InuYasha?” Mrs. Higurashi asked him.

His eyes widened as he rubbed the back of his head, “I really must be going.”

“Oh, well I just wanted to get to know the young man who occupied my daughters time while she was alone,” she replied as she walked into the kitchen.

Kagome suddenly started a coughing fit.

The girls from Aishiteru started giving him strange looks, and when he dared to glance at Souta he was giving him that 'if you did anything with my sister I am going to beat your ass,' look as he crossed his arms over his chest.

He smiled as he leaned forward to call toward Mrs. Higurashi, “dinner sounds amazing.”

'I just hope I live through this,' he thought as he looked at the five in front of him.

“Good, I will have just enough,” her mother stated cheerily.

InuYasha hung his head, 'I am so dead.'

A/N:  well so much for the quick get away, huh? Our poor hanyou really is going to have his work cut out for him ;-)

Okay, sorry for the long wait.  School has been keeping me super busy.  I stayed up late, so I could post this chapter for your reading pleasure :) On the brighter side (well, at least for me anyways...)  I have an A in all my classes so far which makes me feel amazing.  A third of the semester is already gone.  I just need to keep up the momentum.

REVIEWS:

KrissMe : I completely agree.  As soon as I read your review, I decided to go back and read over the first portion of the story.  The lyrics really do take away from the story more then help, so if you see updates to those chapters I am trying to make them more readable and less bulky with the lyrics.  Thank you for the review :)

nezumi : In the next few chapters I will reveal how Kagome got the way she did.  The story should start to reveal itself after I get through the plot of where the story is now and merge it to where the story will be with Kagome walking in on Akio meeting with Master Taisho.  I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Thanks for the review :)

Princess Inume : Aw thanks! In time all will be revealed ;)

arizonasiren : Haha.  Sorry for the long wait.  I hope you enjoyed this update :)
