Kagome woke with a start and looked about the room. She was still at the Inn, from what she could tell by the dim candlelight. She moved around a bit, and came to the conclusion that the pain in her abdomen was reduced to a dull throbbing when she moved too much. She’d be ready to go by tomorrow night at the earliest. Letting out a breath, she became aware of the now stirring lump next to her on the big futon.
Her heart sped up as she realized it was Bankotsu. She couldn’t sense anyone else in the room with them. She furrowed her brow. He’d been with her all this time? She tried to hide her blush in the shadows as he sat up.
“Hey,” he mumbled in that relaxed tone of his. “You had me worried for a while. You pretty much slept the whole day away.” She made a small sound of acknowledgement.
“I’ll be well enough to leave tomorrow morning.” He grabbed shoulders gently.
“We are not leaving until you are totally better. We’ll stay a week if we have to.” Silence ensued, and Kagome realized he had yet to take his hands from her shoulders. She didn’t mind though, his skin was warm. “When will your miko heal your insides? And be honest this time.” She was startled to say the least. How had he known she was lying? She sighed.
“Tomorrow night earliest.” She watched as he nodded.
“We’ll leave in two more days.”
“Two days? We’re only wasting our time if we sit around and do nothing for two days.”
“We won’t be wasting out rime at all. This will give us time to regroup and plan out new strategies, and gather supplies too. Besides, Myouga hasn’t come by with any new information and we’ve already taken care of the demons Kagura remembered.” He paused to look her in the eye. “And we can not be going off with our all-mighty miko not fully healed.” She flicked his nose and giggled. “Hey! That hurt!”
“Says the mercenary that killed over a thousand men.” She caught his chin between her thumb and pointer finger and pouted playfully at him. But her hold on him went slack as they stared into each other’s eyes. Without even noticing, they were soon a breath’s width apart, and their lips brushed together tenderly. Eyes drifted shut as they each moved into the kiss, gently adding pressure. As Bankotsu reveled in the silky softness of her lips while Kagome savored the tenderness at which he kissed her, their eyes snapped open in realization. They quickly drew apart, each blushing heavily; Bankotsu’s eyes wide, Kagome holding a hand to her lips. They looked everywhere but at each other, before Kagome finally suggested they go to bed. Bankotsu agreed and they looked about them dismally as they realized there was no other futon except for the bloodied one Bankotsu had cleaned Kagome on. Shrugging, they just went back to sleep as they had woken up; side by side in the wide futon.

Kagome screwed her eyes shut against the prying morning sunshine, hoping to keep the new day at bay. But her effort was in vain, and she opened her drowsy sapphire eyes, only to find herself entangled with another warm body. Kagome eeped at the sight of a familiar braid of black hair, sitting up abruptly. She averted her eyes as Bankotsu stirred and sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Staring at the wall with a bright blush on her cheeks, she murmured a morning greeting.
“Ohayo-gozaimasu.”
“Good morning.” She felt her face grow even hotter as his laid back tone teased her senses. “Err, your yukata. . .” She finally took her eyes from the wall and saw that her yukata was hanging wide open. The pretty pink in her cheeks grew a deep red, her fingers fumbling furiously with the tie.
“Thanks.” She looked about the room nervously, spotting her things. “Uh, if you don’t mind, I’m going to go bathe.” Bankotsu nodded.
“No, I do not mind at all. A bath will be good for you; I did not get a chance to bathe you properly when you were wounded.” She gathered her things and left the room, shutting the wooden door behind her.
Kagome sighed as she sank into the warm water of the spring. She pressed a hand to her chest to still her beating heart. ‘Why does my heart beat uncontrollably and my stomach flip flop just so? How can a sentence from him turn my gaze shy and my cheeks to flush? Don’t tell me I. . .have feelings. ..for him.’ Her eyes widened. The fingers that had been shampooing her stopped, and she stood frozen for a few moments before ducking under the water.
Gasping as she broke the surface, she pushed her hair out of her face and frowned a bit. She had feelings for Bankotsu. She. Had feelings. For Bankotsu. Shaking her head, she smiled a bit. ‘Nah, it’ll probably pass in a day or two.’

Bankotsu let out a sigh of relief as the heavy wooden door fell into place. Why did he suddenly feel so awkward around Kagome? They hadn’t been like this before. ‘But then again, we’ve never kissed before.’ The mercenary’s entire body went slack as memories of lat night’s kissed played in his head. ‘Lips so soft, a taste so sweet.’ His attention was drawn to the door that led to the hot spring. There was a small, square window with simple framework. He looked away, closing his eyes to stop the barrage of images that tortured his mind. A splash had him staring once again. Cursing under his breath, he rose and stalked over to the door and leaned back against it before quickly turning and peering out the window.
Kagome sat leaning against the edge, staring up at the bright morning sky. Her wet obsidian locks framed her face, her eyelashes dewy. Her lips rested in a small, peaceful smile, her sapphire eyes glittering with joy. The water was shallow enough here to reveal just the swell of her breasts, a sight both pleasing and teasing. Her gaze fell from the sky to the door and he quickly ducked, breathing hard.

Kagome smiled at the ebony-haired mercenary as she reentered the room, dressed in a white yukata, her hair still dripping.
“All yours,” she greeted cheerfully, to which he nodded and left the room. The bathing robe she wore dropped to the floor as she slid into another simple robe that the Inn owners had provided. Her clothes had yet to be returned by the inn owner’s wife, who had taken them to be washed. Grabbing a comb from her bag, she brushed her wet hair distractedly, her mind still on Bankotsu. Securing her robe with a pretty tie, she got up and tiptoed over to the door. She cast a single, curious sapphire eye from the corner of the window.
Bankotsu was sitting on the far side of the spring, facing the door. His midnight blue eyes were closed, his onyx hair undone from its braid. Her lips parted in surprise as she saw that his hair was wavy, like hers. Eyes still closed, the mercenary stretched, revealing inches and inches of tanned skin. Kagome’s cheeks began to heat up as her eyes trailed over his well-defined chest and his chiseled washboard abs. She didn’t dare look below the v of his hip bones. Her fingers twitched as she took in his strong, muscled arms. Maybe she’d accidentally trip and have to grip that bicep the next time they were out on the road. Kagome blushed harder, but couldn’t deny that she’d love to feel Bankotsu up. ‘Maybe I’ve been hanging around Jakotsu too much.’ She averted her eyes as he rose, sneaking a quick peek only when she heard movement in the water. He was in the middle of the spring now, which was hip-deep. She marveled at his long, wavy hair. She pouted as he swept them over his shoulder, but was rewarded with a clear view of his back. Another thing she wanted to run her fingers over.
Kagome quickly turned from the door and sat at the table, mentally slapping herself for her perverse thoughts. She was almost as bad as Miroku. She tried in vain to will away the visions of a naked Bankotsu, barely restraining herself from actually physically slapping herself. Her hand had actually risen from the table when a nonchalant voice interrupted.
“What are you doing?” Her hand landed with a thud on the table. Dropping her head so that her hair hid her face, she mumbled a flat reply.
“Nothing.”
“Mmhm.” Was the skeptical reply that she received. Her eye twitched as another image of Bankotsu naked appeared in her mind. “If you ask me, it looked like you were about to slap yourself.” Kagome’s head shot up, which caused her to draw back as she came fact to face with a curious Bankotsu. He’d been sitting across of her and studying her intently while she had her head down. Her cheeks grew a notch darker.
“Yeah, well, I have my reasons.” She quickly turned her eyes elsewhere as he sat back on his hands, the loosely tied yukata hanging open to reveal the chest and abdomen she’d been staring at earlier.
“I’m sure you do,” was his casual reply. He got up and turned away to hide the smirk plastered over his face. She was about to slap herself when he entered the room, and from what he gathered, possibly because of perverse thoughts. He’d been surprised during his bath, very surprised. He’d turn around and glanced at the door, just in time to see ahead of black hair disappear. His smirk grew, wondering if she got a good show. Tying his robe shut properly, he stopped at the door to their room.
“I’m going to go check on the others and see if the owner’s wife is done with our clothes.” A glance over his shoulder and he saw that she had her back to him, waving nervously. His smirk grew into an all-out grin as he shut the door behind him.

A/N: Hmm. This story is proving to be troublesome. So far, Bankotsu is playing around with her. Will Kagome figure it out? Will she gat payback? Any ideas? I’m kinda stuck on this fic, I’ve only gotten inspiration for my other ones. . . *Grins sheepishly*
