Chapter VIII:


Rapture






"You're late!" Mr. Higurashi said slamming his fist against his desk to make things more dramatic.

"I got caught up with some things. Hey, what happened to your face?" InuYasha said sitting next to Kagura.

"I got caught up with some things." Mr. Higurashi said rubbing the scratch marks he received from his daughter earlier.

"Alright, so what's the problem." InuYasha said sitting upright.

"The problem is that I've been getting death threats from some damn kid."

"Yeah, I have, too."

"Let me finish." Higurashi raised his hand to indicate for InuYasha to be quiet and he obliged. "This boy is poison to my company." He said as he threw them a picture of a 13 year old boy with brown hair tied into a ponytail.

"This little boy! You want us to kill him. It's a waste of time." InuYasha sad leaning back into his chair.

"Really? This boy may look young, but his skills are beyond his years. I don't want you to kill him. I want him on my team, not that filthy bastard Naraku's."

"Don't mean to be rude, but what could a little boy do for our business."

Higurashi let out a deep chuckle. "Lots. This boy became the one of the worlds best assaissins by age nine. Killed more men than I can count."

"Okay, what if he doesn't want to be on our team." Kagura asked looking at the picture.

"Simple. I want you to kill him. Now go." Higurashi said swinging in his chair to face the large window behind him. "Now!" He roared.

InuYasha and Kagura got up and proceeded out of the door. Once they were out of their bosses office they went the opposite ways.



Kagome sat on the couch holding a bag of frozen peas to her eyes. I can't believe this! He just won't let me live. I have to kill him. I have to.

So deep in thought, Kagome didn't realize InuYasha stepping in the apartment. He looked at dried tears that settled on her face and felt sorry for her. He knew that the cause of her injuries was a simple fall was a bold face lie, but he didn't want to dwell on it. "Wench, how have been doing?" InuYasha said throwing his trench coat on the nearby coat rack.

Kagome snapped her head up and looked over to InuYasha. "I've been hanging in there."

"I understand if you don't want to work tomorrow." He said walking in the kitchen opening the cabinet to take out two packs of Ramen.

"No, I'm ready and I have to kill this person."

InuYasha chuckled as he threw the Ramen in the boiling pot of water. "You're such a spitfire."

Kagome smiled as she dropped the peas from her eye and got up and walked into the kitchen. InuYasha looked at her and his heart skipped a beat. He just stared at her like she was an alien.

"What is it?" Kagome said blushing.

"What really happened to you eye?" He said turning back to his food.

Kagome sat down at the small breakfast table and sighed. "I told you I fell."

"Did the guy you're trying to kill do this to you?"

Kagome was silent and she just swallowed hard. She battled with herself on whether she should tell InuYasha the truth since he was helping her, but she couldn't she simply couldn't. "I told you I fell!" Kagome snapped.

"Hey, bitch. Don't you snap at me in my own house. You lucky I'm letting your ass stay, especially after that little stunt you pulled last night."


Kagome smiled that he dropped the topic of her father. "Oh, yeah how did you handle your little problem."

InuYasha blushed as he stirred his food even though Kagome couldn't see it she knew he was.

"Do you want some Ramen?"

"How did you handle the problem?" Kagome pressed.

"Do you want some food or not, bitch."

Kagome giggled at his ways of hiding his emotions. She decided to drop the topic. "Um...sure. I want chicken Ramen."

"I already made beef." InuYasha said pouring the flavor packs in the noddles and stirring them.

"But I don't want beef." Kagome whined.

InuYasha poured the contents into two bowls. "Stop whining wench and just eat."
He said as he placed a bowl in front of Kagome.

She smiled then picked up a fork and began to eat. "You know this is not a real dinner." Kagome said with a mouthful of Ramen.

"Don't talk while you eat and...well...this Ramen is better than nothing."

Kagome smiled as she liked the feel of a semi-nice male figure around her watching over like a father would. Then tears started to run down from her eyes.

InuYasha smelled the salt of her sorrow and looked up to see tears stain her face as she ate her food. "What the fuck is wrong with you?" InuYasha said trying to stay stern, but worry clearly seeped through.

Kagome sniffed and wiped her eyes. "Nothing. I'm just glad at the way you're helping me. I never had a male figure watch over me the way you do."

"Oh, bitch that's why you're crying. Your feelings just run you don't they?" He said with a chuckle as he down the rest of his noodles. He was kind of relieved at her comment and felt good inside. He never knew taking care of some wench would bring him such satisfaction.

InuYasha got up and took his bowl and hers and threw it in the sink.

"Hey, I wasn't finished." Kagome whined.

"Oh, shut up. Tomorrow, I want you to be ready early in the morning. Since you want to train we have to be up early because I have a lot of stuff to do." InuYasha said thinking about the little kid he had to take care of. So, go wash up and get ready for bed, scratch that, the couch." InuYasha said as turned on the water in the sink and began to wash the few dishes that adorned the metal bath.

"You can't send me to bed. You're not my mother."

"I don't want to be, but you still have to get up at 6:00 am."

"That's early." Kagome said as she proceeded to the bathroom.

InuYasha smiled as he somehow liked protecting and looking over her. He turned on the faucet water getting ready to wash the dishes.

"InuYasha, the water!" Kagome yelled from the bathroom.

InuYasha jumped from his thoughts. "Yeah, yeah, bitch!" He said as he turned the faucet off.

He then went into his small linen closet pulling out a quilt and pillows and laid it on the couch. He took out a towel and placed it on the doorknob. InuYasha gave it a few knocks. "Wench, it's a towel out here if you need one." He said as he walked into his bedroom and shut the door.

Once in his room his threw off of his shirt and pants only leaving his snug boxers that fit like a spandex around his scuplted thighs and hugged his penis making a tent around his groin area. InuYasha heard a soft knock then the door creak.

Kagome slightly peaked her head in to see InuYasha half naked and almost fainted at what he was wearing. Of course she has seen more from her loft, but his body was simply breathaking up close like this.

"What do you want, wench?" InuYasha said as he turned face her. He saw the blush settle on her cheeks and smirked. He knew he was getting to her and he knew she liked what she saw. InuYasha didn't know how he could contain himself.

"Um...I just wondering if...um..."

"Spit it out, bitch" InuYasha said aggravated.

Kagome fully opened the door."I was just wondering if I could sleep in your bed tonight." .

InuYasha's breath caught at the sight before him. Her body still a little wet from the shower. Her creamy legs leading up to her thighs encased in small green track shorts that was so tight it hugged her nethers lips creating a camel toe print. Her cut off shirt, slidding down, reavealing one shoulder and a sneak peak of her taught stomach. The cool air hit her back making her nipples sprout out from the chill. Yeah, sure he's seen her completely naked before, but it was nothing like what was just a few feet away from him.

"InuYasha?"

He shook his head. "What?"

"Did you hear me?" Kagome said looking down to the ground and fidgeting with her fingers.

"Yeah, I heard ya. So? I ain't sleeping on the couch." InuYasha said smoothing out his sheets.

"I don't want you to sleep on the couch. I want to sleep with YOU tonight."

InuYasha eyes widended at the bold statement she made. "Kagome, I like you and all, but...."

Kagome shook her head. "No! I don't want you to have sex with you." Kagome said as her cheeks turned deep shade of red.

"Then what are you getting at, wench."

"I just don't want to be alone tonight. I need somebody."

InuYasha realized that she was just a kid needing some comfort. Hell, he even remember climbing in his mother's bed after bad nightmares. "Alright, get in." InuYasha said motioning her towards his bed.

Kagome smiled as he jumped into the bed and wrapped the warm quilt around her still damp form. InuYasha shook his head as he got into the bed next to her. He kept distance between them incase he couldn't control his manly feelings or, God forbid, his demon feelings.

"Goodnight, InuYasha." Kagome said snuggling next to him.

"Yeah, whatever." He said as he turned the light off, cascading the room into darkness.




Kagome woke up that morning smiling. She looked up to InuYasha warm muscular arm wrapped around her and she laid flush against his soft, yet hard, chest. Kagome looked at the sleeping form next to her. He was simply gorgeous. Even in his sleep he glowed with confidence.

"This is the second time I caught you staring at me, wench." InuYasha said he cracked an eye open.

Kagome blushed as she pushed herself off of him. "I..I wasnt...staring at you." Kagome stuttered.

InuYasha chuckled lightly. "Yeah, right." InuYasha said rising from his bed. He got up and stretched.

Kagome's looked as the morning sun hit his body from the window. His well chisled and scuplted body only protected by the next to nothing black boxers. Small scars adorned his body giving it a rough appearance, but Kagome had first hand experience that his chest was soft from using it as her pillow all night.

"Third time. God, you're hooked." InuYasha said shaking his head.

Kagome blushed again and before she could protest he was already out of the room and in the bathroom. Kagome remained completely still until she heard the shower water run.

God, he is so gorgeous. Kagome thought as she got up from the bed and stretched. Then the phone rang and startled Kagome of her thoughts. She expected InuYasha to run and answer it, but guessing it wouldn't be any harm she picked up the ringing device.

"Hello." Kagome greeted.

"This isn't InuYasha?" a dark, stern voice said in confusion.

"Oh, he's in the shower. I'm Kagome."

"Kagome? Well, anyway tell InuYasha that he needs to get to the hospital now!" The voice rumbled.

"Okay, who may I say is calling." Kagome said trying to hide her fear.

"He'll know."

"Okay, bye." Kagome hung up the phone still a little rattled by the man's voice.

"I know you didn't answer my damn phone." InuYasha's voice stormed.

Kagome jumped and quickly turned around to see InuYasha drying his hair with a towel as another wrapped around his waist showing his pelvic bone that looked like arrows pointing down to the hidden treasure beneath the white towel.

"I'm sorry."

"I have very important calls and I don't want a woman answering my phone. Now, who was it?"

Kagome shrugged her shoulders." I don't know, but he said that you need to get to the hospital now."

InuYasha dropped the towel he was drying his hair with to th floor. "That's all he said."

Kagome nodded. "Yeah,....you looked distressed You okay?"

InuYasha ran into his drawer pulling out some boxers. He pulled off his towel revealing his taught behind to Kagome and she couldn't help but stare.

"Stop drooling, wench and go get ready. You are coming with me." He said as he donned his boxers. Kagome ran out of the room and into her bag into the living room and threw on a blue summer dress. It was finally nice and sunny out oppose to the usual rain and sleet. Kagome grabbed her sports bra and shorts for training later.

"What are you waiting for?"

Kagome whipped around to see InuYasha in a dark baggy blue jeans and a black wife beater. He took his coat off of the rack and sweeped it around onto himself.



InuYasha and Kagome arrived at Yokino Central Hospital by cab and rushed through the lobby.

"Mr. Taisho," the receptionist said smiling wildy at him. "How are you?"

"Where's Sesshomaru?" He asked sternly.

"He's in there with your mother."

"Come on." InuYasha said as he took Kagome's hand and led her down the corridor until they reached his mother's room. He opened the door and the sight before almost brought him to tears.


"InuYasha..." the voice weakly said.

"Momma!" He said as he ran to his mothers side like a little kid and hugged her tightly as Sesshomaru smirked slightly in a nearby chair.

Sesshomaru looked over to the young woman in the summer dress and wondered what in the hell she was doing here. "Um...who are you?"

Kagome quickly recognized the voice. "I'm the girl who answered the phone."

"Oh, so dogface here finally received himself a female."

InuYasha ears perked at this. He whipped his head around to find Kagome standing looking at him. "Oh, no it's..."

"InuYasha, she's lovely!" His mother praised him.

"But momma she's not..."

Sesshomaru gave him a glare that said at least give her this.

"She's not what dear?" his mother said worried.

"She's not...um....just my girlfriend she's a my companion."
