Chapter XI: Apprehension
"If you tell anyone, Kagome. I'll kill you. You hear that? I'll kill you."
Kagome shot up from the couch and fell face forward onto the carpeted floor. She groaned as she arose from the floor and leaned against the couch.
"These dreams have to stop." She panted, wiping the sweat off her brow. "Why does he always haunt me?"
She sighed and looked to the closed bedroom door of her 'roommate'. Kagome gently got up and slowly walked over to the door and knocked timidly on the wooden entrance. There was no answer. She nervously bit her lip and turned the brass knob and carefully walked in. The moonlight from the window cascaded the dark room in a soft luminescent glow.
"InuYasha?" Kagome whispered to the sleeping hanyou, but he didn't budge. .
Kagome quietly stalked over to the bed and gently got in. She fearlessly wrapped her arms around him and snuggled up to his hard yet soft chest. She wanted to stay here forever. Here she was safe, here she was content and happy within herself, and here her father never even crossed her mind.
"What are you doing here, wench?" InuYasha said, his eyes still closed.
Kagome jumped at the rumble of his rough voice. "Um...I...I...well," She studdered before sighing. "I'll just go." She sorrowfully said.
"No," He said grabbing her and holding her flush against him. "You can stay here."
She inwardly smiled and held him tighter to her, making sure he would never leave. Then uncontrollable tears streamed down her face. "Thank you." She whimpered.
"For everything."
"You know we have to talk in the morning." He mumbled.
"I know."

Kohaku stood beside his grandma’s bedroom door and watched the sun rear its ugly head through the hallway window.
'Fuck. Something's wrong'. Kohaku thought as he gripped his kusarigama under his dark hoody. "Come on, Sango." He said looking at his watch as he tapped his feet nervously.
"Kohaku, is that you?" The elderly voice of Kohaku's grandma said.
"Um...yeah, granny." He answered back. The young assassin sighed as he heard the padded footsteps slide across the floor.
The elderly woman opened the door to find Kohaku propped up against the doorway. "What are you doing up this early?"
"Um...grandma?"
"And where's Sango?"
Kohaku sighed. "I have to be somewhere."
The older woman looked at her grandson's eyes and solemnly nodded. "I see."
"I'll be back though."
She smiled a content grin. "You always were like your father."
Kohaku looked up at her in astonishment. "Grandma?" He whispered.
"Just because I'm old doesn't mean I'm stupid." She said with a hint of laughter.
"I-I-I-" Kohaku studdered.
She raised her hand. "Don't. Just go."
Kohaku nodded. "I'll bring her back. I promise."
She watched her thirteen year old grandson run out of her sight "I know you will." She whisperd to herself.

"Wrong answer" Naraku rough voice rumbled before he pulled out a Desert Eagle and shot Kagura through the head.
Kagura jumped up screaming. She touched all over her body to make sure she was still alive. She gently patted the soft tender spot on her bandaged wrapped head.
"The doctor advised not to touch that."
Kagura whipped her head to see the face of the man sitting in the seat across from her bed. "Mr. Higurashi." She whispered in disbelief.
"Kagura." He acknowledged.
"I..." She sighed unable to finish to her sentence.
"Don't talk. I know all about it."
Kagura dropped her head. "I'm sorry. I failed you."
"Not quite." Higurashi sighed. "Kagura, there's unfinished business I have to take care of, but I need some information from you."
"Like what?"
"Like what's Naraku's next move?"
Kagura shrugged her shoulders. "I never know what he's going to do. He's smart, Higurashi."
"Don't put such vile scum on top of some pedestal."
"He's much stronger than he lets on. You should just get out of it while you can."
"Get out of it?! I've been on top of my game for too long to get out of it. I'm getting old and I won't let some slick talking newbie come and fuck up the city I created. I'm taking him out if it's the last thing I do."

"So, are we going to just sit here or are you going to start talking?" InuYasha said in an irritated tone. They went through six hours and three packs of ramen. He didn't have time to be Dr. Phil to this girl. He had business to take care of.
"I don't no where to start." Kagome said quietly as she played with the peeling paint on the kitchen table.
"How about the beginning?" He said resting his hip on the table.
"There is no beginning."
InuYasha groaned. "Well, damn, wench, you gotta start somewhere."
"Stop badgering me!" Kagome yelled. "I'm trying the best I can here."
"Well, you ain't trying hard enough."
"You don't understand. It's not that easy."
InuYasha pushed himself off of the table. "Well, I give up then."
"No, wait." Kagome said jumping out of her chair to grab the sleeve of his shirt.
InuYasha stopped his motions and sighed. He turned around to lock eyes with the deep blue themselves.
"Please." She pleaded.
InuYasha groaned as he pulled out a chair and sat down. "Are you going to talk?"
Kagome eagerly nodded. "Yes."
"Finally.”
“First off, I...”
*Knock Knock*
InuYasha sighed. "Hold that thought." He said as he walked over to his door.
A familiar scent hit his nostrils yet he didn't know who it was. InuYasha stopped his movements before he carefully stalked towards his door.
"InuYasha, what's wrong?"
"Sssh." He warned as he slowly crept up to the entrance. He gingerly opened the door to reveal the young freckled assassin that attacked last night. Immediately he was at his guard.
Kohaku raised his hands in defeat. "I'm not here to hurt you. I need help."
InuYasha growled as he inadvertently drew out his talons. "Why should I believe you?"
"I know where Naraku is and he has my sister."
InuYasha could sense the helplessness in the boy's voice and could see the warmth in his eyes. 'How could a kid like this be as deadly as he was last night?'
"I need help." Kohaku pleaded. "And I'm sorry for last night."
InuYasha withdrew his claws and sighed. "Come in." He said as he moved out the way for Kohaku to enter into the apartment.
Kagome saw the boy and immediately jumped from her seat. She screamed as she ran into the bathroom and locked the door.
InuYasha shut the main door and sighed. "This is going to be a long day."
Kohaku timidly walked into the kitchen. "I guess I scared her."
"You think?" InuYasha said glaring the boy. "Hold on." He said as he lightly jogged to the bathroom door before giving it two knocks.
"Get away!" Kagome shrieked from the thick wooden door.
"Wench, get out of there. He ain't gonna hurt you." InuYasha said turning the knob hoping it would magically unlock.
"How do you know that?!" Kagome yelled back.
"I don't, but you gotta trust me." He said.
It was small silence before the heavy click of the lock was heard and Kagome slightly opened the door. She looked deeply into InuYasha's pool of gold. "I trust you."
InuYasha cheeks turned the lightest shade of pink as his eyes locked onto her stormy blue ones. He shook his head and grunted. "Yeah, whatever, wench. Just get out. You're embarrassing me."
Kagome huffed and shoved him out of the way. "You can be such a jerk." She said heading towards the kitchen and InuYasha followed
"Well, you can be such a b...”
Kagome turned around and glared him. “Don’t.” She warned.
“Keh.” He shrugged before shoving his hands into his pockets.
Kagome hesitantly walked into the kitchen to see the boy who nearly killed her, sitting at the breakfast table.
Kohaku looked up to the woman and blushed. “Hi.”
Kagome opened her mouth, but words didn’t come out.
“Um...I’m s-s-s...”
“It’s okay.” Kagome said smiling at the innocent look on the boy’s freckled face.
Kohaku blushed and nodded his apologies.
“Now, that you’ve settled your differences. Where’s Naraku?” InuYasha said as he leaned against the threshold of the kitchen.
“He’s in an old warehouse.”
“Well....” InuYasha stopped as he jumped at the vibration in his pocket. He scrambled for his cell phone before he answered it. “Yeah.”
“I need you down at Yokino Central.” Higurashi resonant voice came through the receiver.
InuYasha heart quickened at the mention of the hostpital. “Why?”
“Kagura’s down here.”
“Kagura’s in the hospital?! What happened?”
Kagome eyes perked at the mention of Sango’s ex. ‘How does InuYasha know her?’
“That’s not important. What is imporant, is that we need to take Naraku down. I don’t know how, but I will.”
InuYasha sighed and looked over to Kohaku. “What if I told you I had the answer to that?”
"Then hurry to the hospital."
"Yeah." He said before hanging up and putting his phone back into his pocket.
"Who was that?" Kagome asked.
"No one." He pushed himself off the doorway. "Kohaku, we have to go."
The young man nodded fully understanding the situation.
"Wench, grab a coat."
"Where are we going?" Kagome asked still in the dark.
"Just get your damn coat. It's cold outside."
Kagome huffed before stomping to the coat rack. "Where are we going? Is it far?" Kagome asked as she hurried on her jacket for the chilly weather that snuck up last night.
"We're going to the hospital." InuYasha said putting on his signature trenchcoat.
"Why? What's going on? Why is Sango's ex in the hospital?"
"Damnit, woman! Do you ever shut up?" He said shoving her out of the apartment door.
"Hey, don't push me."
InuYasha sighed before looking back to Kohaku. "When we get to the warehouse, be ready to fight."
Kohaku nodded. "I'm always ready."
"InuYasha, I thought we were going!" Kagome whined.
InuYasha rolled his eyes and Kohaku smiled before walking out. "I'm coming, wench. Hold on to your damn panies." He said shutting the door.

Wide, brown eyes opened and adjusted to the dim light bulb that hung above her. Sango looked down to see her body half naked and dirty. She then looked up to see the heavy chains that suspended her in the air. She violenty yanked at the shackles making her swing back in forth with no avail to freedom.
“Awoke are we?” A voice resounded through the dark warehouse. He walked into the small light letting himself be seen.
Sango squinted her eyes and saw the inky black hair and devilish eyes of Naraku.“Where am I?”
“Home.” He clearly said. “I was waiting for you to wake up.” Naraku said walking over to a wooden box. “Ask me why.” He said wickedly.
Sango remained silent not really having the strength to speak.
“Come on, ask me.” He demanded before opening the box and pulling out items Sango couldn’t get a glimpse of.
She gritted her teeth. “Why?”
“Why what?” He said in dark humor.
Sango sighed in annoyance. “Why were you waiting for me to wake up?”
“I’m glad you asked.” He smiled before turning around with a thick leather whip and a jar of yellowish salt. “I wanted to see your face while I violently tortured you.” He said with lethal poison.
Sango eyes dialated in fear as she began to thrash at her chains. “No!” She screamed. “Please."
"Don't scream now. I haven't even started yet." He said before cracking the thick leather across her naked back.
"No!" She howled at the mind blowing pain that etched through her.
"Now you can scream."
