Secrets, a Sesshoumaru Romance 01

Your name is Kane, your 18 with small breasts, pale skin like milk with a small dash of honey, dark brown eyes and short black hair. Your 1/2 shadow demon 1/4 elemental demon 1/4 human. [Your dad was half elemental demon able to control all four elements although some better than other and your mother was a full shadow demon who died shortly after your birth] You live with your three cousins and uncle, your father's half brother a full blooded human named Ejie.

Looking out your window you watched as men and their sons fought against Lord Sesshoumaru's army, he needed to replenish his legends and serving staff. Growling under your breath you pull on a boy's kimono, the one of your cousins and grabbed your katana, the only thing left to you from your late father a great warrior. Rushing out the door you join the fight and listen to the cries of friends and relatives as they fell to the ground. "ENOUGH!!" Master Kojie yelled he was the leader of your village, an aged fighter with greying dark brown hair and tired black eyes.

Everyone stoped, "Enough, take who you will, Lord Sesshoumaru, enough have died," Kojie said defeat in his voice. The demon only a few yards from him smirked his eyes remaining hard, his skin was moonlight pale, his hair a glossy silver, his eyes a direct contrast with their brilliant gold. The moon crest on his forehead brought some more colour to his otherwise icy extra with the help of vermilion strips on each side of his face. "All men between 15 and 30 will come with me, everyone older or younger stays, women between 18 and 25 come others stay!" getting cries from mothers and younger wives.

Moving quietly with the other men of your village, non of them telling anyone that you were a girl, they probably didn't even know, you rarely wore feminine clothing and spent most of your time with boys. As you walked you saw your cousins among the dead, the three boy's eyes wide with shock gone glassy, your uncle Ejie standing with the men who were staying. Catching his eye you nodded, you would go on behalf of your family; it was the least you could do.

He opened his mouth as if to order you to his side but you shook your head and looked at your cousins corpses. You watched him sigh from a distance and knew you'd won the argument if it could have been called that. Standing with some of your friends you whispered "Don't tell them I'm a girl k." Havan smirked and nodded, Huko nodded solemn and you knew after looking around that his younger brother was among the dead. Kenshin waggled his eyebrows and laughed though it came out strained. "Let's Move Out!" Sesshoumaru's voice called and you all fell into his band heading to goddess knew were.

Sesshoumaru's POV...two weeks later

Looking across the banquet hall you spied a young man nibbling at the food in front of him, you'd noticed him during the fight when he'd ran out of a shop defending an older man. He was weaker then most of the others but he made up for that with speed, he was small, with thin shoulders and little hight, 5'2. He looked odd in the uniform you had your legends wear, like a child wearing his dads clothing.

"Captain Batou, who's the young boy there," you ask pointing one long finger at the kid as he looked at one of the boys on the other side of the table and laughed. "The little one, he's Kane, in group 4, why sir?" Batou asked frowning, his small beady eyes looking from the boy to you. "How old is he?" you ask looking at your Captain "Well, group 4 is 17-18 year olds so one or the other why?" he asked. "He's a little...little," you say indifferently, "True but he makes up for the lack of bulk with speed," he said before Rin said "He's nice." Her comment made the both of you turn and you said "Explain," voice low and calm.

Grinning she said between licking her greasy fingers "Well a few days ago, when I accidentally stumbled into the training grounds, he and his group were running and when he saw me he jogged over and asked if I was meant to be there. Another man came over...Yakumo, he yelled at Kane, telling him to get back with the group, he scared me. I think Kane saw it and he told Yakumo he'd run ten extra laps if he could get me to safety first, Yakumo had this evil look in his eyes when he said he could. When I told Kane Yakumo scared me, he said that he was a big softy waiting for the right woman to set him right." She frowned and said in a small voice as if she didn't know if she'd get into trouble or not "When he got he out of the area, I went over to a tree and watched him do his laps, he did ten of them with his team then he did his extra ten. When he finished all the others were drinking and relaxing, on a brake. Anyway when he got back to the group Yakumo yelled at him pointing and hit him hard, he fell and the other men laughed except three who went over to him and when they went to help him up he shook his head and got up only to have Yakumo kick down," she looked at you and her bottom lip trembled "He got into lots of trouble because of me and yet when I saw him in the garden, when I said I was sorry for all the trouble I caused he-he laughed and ruffled my hair and told me I was no trouble and no to worry. But I did, his jaw was purple and his lip slipt and when he hugged me he winced!" she told them tears in her eyes. "But he was really kind and played with me until my nanny came and got me," she said her face shinny again.

You looked over at the boy and saw him frowning at her, his dark eyes shadowed, his jaw was a sickly green, and you didn't think it was the same wound. You almost felt the impact of his gaze; those dark eyes weren't black as you'd thought but a deep brown, unlike any brown you'd seen in a set of eyes except for Rins. They were soulful, sad and cool at the same time. He gave a slight nod, and then turned to one of the other boys with blue hair who had tapped him on the shoulder.

I'll have to keep an eye on him, you thought, mayhap you'd use him to protect Rin when you were travelling, and having to rescue her was getting tedious.

You're POV

The next morning you were out in the training yard with your group, the twenty of you were under the rule of Sergent Yakuma, a bully of a demon with green eyes, green skin and dark almost black green hair. An earth demon he could call on earth and fire, so he was relatively powerful, you'd meet earth demons who couldn't call on any element and another that could call on all four. You yourself could call on two not including shadows but you weren't about to tell him that so you remained a little 1/2 human 1/2 something boy with amazing speed.

"To warm up I want you to run 20 laps of the arena, stay together at all time... No going a head Kane!" he yelled when you smirked. Letting the smile fall from your face you gave him big bug eyes like you were scared. Havan and another guy on either side of you all swallowed laughter that shone in their eyes, and tried to keep straight faces. "GO!" Yakumo snarled and off you went, jogging beside Havan you say "So, you having fun yet, you always said you wanted to be in an army?" He glared at you controlling his breathing. Everyone else was running full pelt and you jogged and asked "Well?" grinning. After ten laps you and had to slow to a lope, as everyone else slowed because of how far they'd run. You recognised about 6 guys from your village and the rest you had gotten to know. Although you'd had to keep the persona of a boy. Looking over at Yakumo you saw Rin, Lord Sesshoumaru, Captain Batou and a small green imp. Frowning, you kept running but slowed so that you were in the middle of the group next to Kenshin and Huko. "Hay runt," Kenshin gasped, smiling you say back "Shut it red head, you'll need your breath for the next 7 laps," which got you a grown.
