(*Muse wipes away drool from the Neko Chaos’ chin. ‘Sigh… I thought I wouldn’t have to write as much of this story as I did the other… but it looks as though she’s off in Lala Land again…oh well, must take over the helm when needed. Cheerio!)

I’m going to add this as well…I do not own the following either… a very beautiful lady does…O_^… I feel as though it goes with part of this chappie…hehe.

I tried to kill the pain,
But only brought more
So much more...

I lay dying,
and I'm pouring
Crimson regret,

I'm Dying...
Praying...
Bleeding…
And screamin'...

Am I too lost

(Storytellers POV -Kinda… O_o` )

On this day, many things changed. It’s never a good idea to give a demon (especially one so powerful, a taiyoukai even,) the chance to find his life mate…let them bond, and separate them again. Now, it is to this day unknown how Sesshoumaru came to be in Kagomes future. Even less is known about how he ended up back in his own time. Only that it was an infamous day indeed.

Sesshoumaru, cut off from the logical side of his persona, could not contain his rage at this turn of events. And boy did he rage! Many trees met their end at the fury of his claws. Even a mighty mountain fell to his whims. Not to speak of the many lesser youkai that were unfortunate victims of his venom.

Things passed this way for many years and the lands of the west became desolate. Where once lush greenery, trees, and flowers reigned supreme. Now dominant, was a plethora of browns, tans, and blacks. There were no visitors to the lands any more. Most where warned off by the stories of the Taiyoukai that went mad…and if any one entered what he considered his lands…their life expectancy dropped down to a few minutes.

There was but one place of life left in the western lands and that was a small forest known as Inuyashas’ Forest. The Youkai lord did not seem to want anything to do with that place. There were also stories that there was a Hanyou in that small wood. Pinned to a mystical tree by a sacred arrow from a miko it was said that he had wounded unto her death. Not much else was known about this Hanyou either, except that his name was probably Inuyasha, and that the forest was named after him.

(Back to Kagome)

“Sesshoumaru…why…kami…” Was all that made it out of her mouth before her pupil-less eyes rolled back into her head and she collapsed across her bed, with out her lovers body to sprawl against. She awoke a few hours later to her mothers vibration. There was her normal core of pink, but instead of the light blue and lavender that was most other times prevalent… her pink core was wrapped in ribbons of orange and a darker burnt orange color.
What was her mother so worried about?

Then the evening that had pasted came back to her all at once and tears started leaking from her silvery eyes. It was like watching a rain storm in progress. Her mothers words finally came through to her. “-ome! What happened! I came in and you had scratches and blood on yourself, and I couldn’t wake you!” She could hear the tears in her mothers voice and wrapped her arms around he mother. Kagome laid her head on her mothers’ soft chest.

“Mama…” Was the only thing she could utter. She felt her mother wrap her strong arms around her as well as the blanket from her bed. Kagome made not one sound as her mother hefted her up and called out to Souta.

“Souta! Come here!” A few moments later Kagome could hear his foots steps coming down the hall and entering her room.

“Mom! Kagome! What’s wrong?” He asked in obvious shock.

“Souta, no questions at this time… Just get some clothes together for Kagome and meet me in the car.” Hitomi told her son in a voice that staunched any further questions he might have had. “Papa!” She called out as she moved out into the hall. Her father slid open his shojii door a little ways down the hall, he was kneeling on the other side but jumped to his feet as soon as he saw his daughter and granddaughter.

“Yes Mama?! What’s going on!?” His old voice creaked in concern.

“We need to bring Kagome to the hospital, I need you to hold onto Kagome for me, as you can’t drive…” Hitomi said as she made her way down the stairs, Her father right behind her. They all made it to the car at the same time. Souta sat in the back, a large yellow back pack on his lap that he was also clutching to his chest. Jii-chan also sat in the back with Kagome curled up against his chest. As soon as Hitome started the car they where off.

Their arrival at the clinic caused quite a stir, as the burst through the doors of the reception area. They filled out some forms and signed Kagome in. Jii-chan and Souta sat in the waiting room as Kagome and her mother where ushered into a small examination room. The examiner was an OBG-YN by the name of Otohime, Motoko. She had long dark brown hair pulled back into a braid and small glasses perched on her nose. She had very warm, kind eyes.

To Kagome she was a core of vermilion with streaks of white all around it…Even though she liked this persons’ vibration , she didn’t say a word to her, didn’t answer a one of her questions. Dr. Otohime continued to talk to the girl as if every question was answered. A little while later she pulled back the curtain to speak with Hitomi.

“Well Higurashi-san…You’re daughter is no longer a virgin, and from examining her passage it looks as though it was very rough. She has a few lacerations on her thighs and arms, also a bite mark on her neck. It looks as though it was done by some one of youkai descent.” Kagome heard her mother take in a sharp breath at that and closed her eyes, not wanting to see the anger and sadness seeping into her mothers once peaceful presence.

“I would suggest taking her to see a psychologist, they might be able to help with what ever trauma she has gone through, perhaps to at least get her to speak again.” Hitomi nodded and quietly thanked Dr. Otohime. “I’ll step out for now so you can get her dressed.” Otohime said as she closed the door behind her.

“Kagome…what happened?” Hitomi asked once more, only to meet the blank stare of her once vibrant daughter. Hitomi sighed and pulled the clothes Souta had gathered out of the large yellow bag. Hitomi smiled faintly when she saw that Souta hadn’t forgotten underclothes. She dressed her daughter a quickly as she could and helped her off of the examination table and out the door. Her grim eyes met her fathers and she shook her head, then they all headed out to the car once more.

Hitomi didn’t want to bring her daughter to a shrink. But it was now a whole month after the incident, and Kagome still was not speaking… She had forgone the Goshinboku ceremony, and as far as any one could tell, she hadn’t even touched the tree since that night. Also, even more disturbing, She refused to see her friends Miroku and Sango…even little Shippou, who had brought her so much joy in the past. She wouldn’t cry either. Not once did she cry. They had to force her to eat, and when they did she became sick and would just toss the food back up.

At her wits end, Hitomi had scheduled an appointment at a large clinic known to help people with mental problems. They needed to be there at one o’clock. They had two hours to get there, so Hitomi was currently strapping her daughter into the passenger side of the car. With a heavy heart, she left the shrine premises and made her way to the mental clinic.

“Higurashi-san…nice to meet you. And this is Kagome-chan?” asked a dark haired youkai nurse with garnet red eyes. Kagome shifted uncomfortably from foot to foot. All she could see from this woman’s vibrations was a core of gray… how she could conceal her aura this way was disturbing. At no response from Kagome the nurse turned her attention back to Hitomi. “Higurashi-san, we spoke on the phone. I’m Urashima, Kagura… I will show you around our facility so you can see the kind of environment your daughter will be in while she spends some time with us.” So saying she led the way down a hall to show the rooms, before moving onto the dining area, the rec-room and gardens.

“Kagome-chan will be speaking with Doctor Urashima as soon as he gets back this afternoon, and they will have sessions every afternoon following this one. Also any progress made will be reported to you, so that you are aware of what is going on at all times.” Kagome heard her mother sigh and felt her nod her head. They stopped walked again and Kagome heard the scratch of a pen on paper as her own mother signed her over to this stranger with no aura. She felt as her mother placed a kiss on her forehead then heard her whisper, “Get better Kagome…Oni-gai…”

Kagome felt tears well up in her eyes, but she would not let them fall, even as her mothers vibration disappeared. “The Doctor is in now Kagome-chan…he wishes to see you.” Urashima, Kagura said in a quiet voice and Kagome felt her hand wrap around her arm in a grip as strong as steel. The nurse dragged her quickly through the halls and into an occupied office. “Doctor, this is Higurashi Kagome…” Urashima Kagura said as she pushed the girl down into a chair then left the room.

Kagome sat in the chair frozen in fear. Before her was a person whose core was the darkest black she had ever seen! He also had small veins of black running around said core, mixed in with swirls of a vibrant, yet deep red. He was a Hanyou… and not only that he had some how swallowed up other youkai…how was that possible.

“I am Doctor Urashima, Onigumo…It’s nice to meet you, Miko of the Goshinboku. I’m glad I could finally make your acquaintance. It makes things so much easier when they come to you. Kukuku” He laughed to himself evilly. No longer in awe over the evil vibration he was sending out, Kagome leapt to her feet and made a mad dash for where she thought the door was…Her hand made contact with the door knob and she was about to give it a twist when her hand was pulled away from it and she was turned and slammed up against her escape route.

She struggled when she felt him push his hard body against hers. She could feel his breath on her skin by the mark Sesshoumaru had given her. Kagome heard him take in a deep breath. “That scent…it is familiar…” Kagomes’ heart began to pound hard. ‘He knew Sesshoumaru? How was that possible? Unless…this youkai was old enough to have been around when Sesshoumaru was…’

Kagome could feel a hardness pushing against her lower regions and a hand snaking it’s way up her shirt. She went rigid and she could feel anger building up inside of herself. It was the last straw when she felt his tongue rake across her mating mark. Her anger exploded outwards in a shock wave of burning Miko energy, blasting him away from her. He landed on his desk. At this time Kagome, weakened by the unexpected use of her powers, dropped to the ground clutching her chest and breathing harshly. Unbeknownst to her, a faint yellow crescent moon was shining on her forehead, but it did not go unnoticed by a certain devious Hanyou.

Naught but a moment passed when Kagura slammed into the room, almost hitting Kagome with the door in the process. “Kagura, grab her.” Onigumo said in a soft, yet cruel, voice. Kagome didn’t cry out one bit as the harsh hands of the female nurse grabbed her and pinned her arms behind her back. She felt Onigumo as he walked closer to her. His cold fingers touched her cheek and made her shudder. “ I have a use for you Miko…oh yes…and I do so hope you enjoy it.” The last thing Kagome felt for a long time was his hand as it smashed across her cheek and her world going utterly dark.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~``
When she came to she decided not to open her eyes. It’s not like she really needed to.
The room she was in was very cold. Maybe it only seemed that way because she had no clothes on. She was strapped down to a table with some sort of restraints. She pulled at them, but was unable to move very far. She heard a door open to her left and heavy foot steps walk up to the table side. “It’s good to see you are awake… I didn’t want to do this procedure while you where asleep…you would have missed it. You see… I’m going to take your soul and use it to create an Ersatz. While some times not as good as the original… definitely easier to control. It will look like you, and sound like you, it could even fool your own mother. It will have similar, if not exact copies of your abilities as well. Every thing just about the same…right down to that mating mark… It will be made from your soul, your blood and the earth. Now…let the procedure begin.”
While he was talking Kagome tried to call upon her powers to help her one more time… She could feel them there… but what ever was binding her, was binding them as well… A silent scream ripped out of her throat as the sharp metal was dragged across the flesh right above her heart. She wished to lose consciousness at this point but she was awake during the whole thing…She felt as her ribs where moved so he could get to her heart and the sharp unclean stinging as her blood was taken straight from her heart. The worst was when he started to pull on her soul… he tried to take it all from her. She fought back at this point, although he didn’t know it… He only wrested free a piece of her soul. She could see some of it’s rainbow like color as he took it from her and brought it to another place with in the room.
She could see as it was sucked into something, and could hear as her blood was being poured onto what ever it was as well. The last ingredient was something he hadn’t told her about…it was his blood. At least she assumed it was his blood. It was something in a container emanating the same evil as he did. She could see her soul take root in the unnatural being, and saw as it’s own aura was created… no matter what Onigumo said…it would never be like her, it was already evident. Sure it has the rainbow core of a Miko… but that was covered in splotches of black and brown. But as far as she knew, She was the only one that would be able to notice that… Her exposed heart leapt when she heard a commotion in the hall. She could hear shouting. Onigumo picked up the prone body of the Ersatz, just as Kagura burst into the room. “Master Naraku…There has been a security breach, two humans an a small youkai…they have infiltrated the lower levels…”
“That’s alright, we have what we need… we are leaving now…” So saying, he took a step closer to Kagura and the three of them where engulfed in a vile smelling miasma, then they where gone. Once more the door to the room burst open and she heard three simultaneous gasps.
“Oh gods…Kagome!” She heard the familiar voice of her Monk friend. Silent tears trickled down her face as she turned her head to look in his direction. She reached a shaky hand in his direction, crying out mentally for him to stop her pain. Sango and Miroku ran forward and undid the straps holding her to the table, ripping off the bindings holding in her Miko powers. Miroku wrapped the purple outer part of his monks robes around her, lifting her carefully from the table, so as not to jar her open wound to much.
“We gotta get her out of here!” Shippou squealed through his tears. The small group nodded their heads simultaneously and headed out of the door they had come in from. Once they made it out of the building they looked around themselves in awe…There was deep purple Miasma every where…they didn’t know which way to go, or even where they should take her to… A gurgling noise came from Kagome and she rose her hand once more and pointed a direction out for them.
Miroku looked down into Kagomes’ listless gray eyes and spoke quietly, “Okay Kagome-sama…We will go that way. Come on every one, lets go!” The group set a quick pace, hoping that where ever they ended up, would be some place to save their friend.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~

The Miasma clouding their vision, slowly parted to reveal the steps to the Higurashi Shrine. “She must want us to take her to the Goshinboku! Come on every one, we must hurry before it’s to late!” Miroku shouted. Shippou cried out in distress the moment they crested the top of the stairs. There was destruction every where… The well house was no longer standing…Though the well was undamaged. There was rubble every where and the house was completely decimated, smoke rising from the ruins. Worst of all, the bodies of Kagomes family lay in pools of their own blood.

Miroku felt a slight tug on his robe and looked down at Kagome. Tears still ran down her cheeks, as if she knew the state of her beloved family and their shrine. She nodded and pointed again. This time directly at the Goshinboku. The group walked past the devastation and kneeled in front of the tree that even Miroku could feel the pure spiritual power emanating from. No one seemed to be able to speak. After what felt like an eternity, Sango cleared her throat and brought her hands together in prayer.

“Please…Goshinboku… Help her…Don’t let her die…Oni gai, this world would be such a terrible place with out her shine…” Sango said with tears in her voice.

“Please… Don’t let her die… I would give up my life to spare hers if I could…” Miroku said next clutching the still body of the girl that was like his sister closer to himself.

“Don’t take her from me…Oni gai…She’s like a mother to me…” Was all Shippou could get out through the tears running down his face and clogging his throat.

After the smallest of them had made his request, the tree seemed to pulse out in a golden light and engulf them all.

Kagome opened her eyes and found she was surrounded by a warm, sweet, golden light. ‘At least I can become one with the Goshinboku in my death…’ She thought to herself.

“It is not time yet for you to die seedling.” A deep rumbling voice called out and resonated through her head. “There are things you yet need to accomplish.” The familiar vibration spoke again.

‘I’m in so much pain… I just want to become part of my dear friend and rest in peace.’ She thought as she didn’t seem to be able to move her lips.

She heard a deep rumble sort of resembling a laugh. “I am honored you want to become a part of me… One day you shall… but not yet. Your friends would be so devastated…Look seedling.” And a scene appeared before her eyes…figures she had never seen before. There was a person with dark hair falling out of a small pony tail at the back of their neck…That person was clutching the body of another person who didn’t seem to be breathing.

The body was small with long black hair fanning out around the two. The person who was clutching the body cried out “Why Kami… why?!” In a familiar voice .‘Miroku?’ she thought to her self and words drifted across her memory, “I would give up my life to spare hers if I could!”

Clutching the hands of the still body was another person, This one was dressed in a tight black and pink outfit. They had a pony tail high up on the back of their head with the tail ending at the middle of their back. “Kagome…No! Come back!” said another familiar voice ‘Sango!’ She exclaimed as another set of words floated across her conscious. “ This world would be such a horrible place without her shine.”

The last form she saw was tiny. It had a bushy little tail and bright red hair, with cute little pointed ears. “Momma…Momma? Please Momma, answer me…”He spoke quietly as he patted the bodies’ pale cheek. ‘Oh Shippou…’ And again she was assaulted by words. “Oni gai…she’s like a mother to me…”

The scene faded. ‘So that’s what the world looks like to normal people.’ She thought vaguely to herself.

“Time is short at this point seedling. I can make you better, but you will not be the same. But make a choice at this point…Do you wish to leave your friends?”

Kagome was silent for a moment, then in the strange thought speech she had been speaking with, stated firmly. “I wish to be with them always.”

Kagome felt the Goshinboku nod, although she didn’t know how that was possible when it didn’t have a normal body. “Very well seedling. This will hurt… immensely. Afterwards you will be back in your world. At that point I want you to take your friends and jump into the well. That evil creature who did this to you opened the sleeping time stream connected to it and went into the past. It is unsteady at this point as it was forced open, and you might not come out into the same time as him… it might be days, even months or years off. Find him… for the sake of your world…destroy him by any means possible…Or this world you have come to know, will be a horrid and twisted place, tainted to the core. I fear even I would not be left standing. One more thing, I look forward to hearing your song in the past… it’s so lovely…”
Kagome felt herself being pushed back into her dying shell and almost fought it. When her soul was firmly in place the Goshinbokus’ shine enveloped her form and lifted her from Mirokus’ arms. Her limp body hung a few feet off the ground…tendrils of power holding her aloft. Kagome opened her eyes to see the large column of pure gold in front of her. ‘Goshinboku.’ She thought to herself. From it’s center she saw a light gathering. It was a mixture of so many colors… it reminded her of her soul, almost, except there where so many different shades and colors, it wasn’t like a normal rainbow. It gathered together in a small sphere and solidified.

Kagomes friends watched in shock as the light formed into a jewel and quickly floated to the open wound in her chest. It imbedded itself into the opening. At this point Kagome made her first real scream of pain since that day Sesshoumaru was taken from her. The dead flesh around the wound gained color and closed leaving behind a terrible scar. Proof that at least a piece of her soul was missing. A yellow crescent moon traced itself in the middle of her forehead, becoming clear for all to see. Her ears became slightly pointed and the path that the tears had creased into her face turned as silver as her eyes.

The blood on her body disappeared and ribbons of light formed around her body. Solidifying into a pair of red hakama and a white haori. Her hair was pulled back and bound away from her face. And a koolie appeared on her head…the kind that obscured her face completely. Then the power holding her aloft gently placed her on the ground and shot out towards her friends, impaling each of them through the heart. It didn’t hurt but they where all startled. Even more so when Kagome spoke.

“We must go now minna… Into the well.” So saying she scooped up Shippou and made her way towards the structure. Making sure her friends where with her, Kagome jumped up onto the lip of the well that was glowing that same gold as the Goshinboku. She took a deep breath and jumped.
