Ina sighed as she shut the door. She was ready to burst out crying but managed to hold the tears back. She saw Naraku sitting on the couch and opted to sneak to her room before he noticed her. She managed to sneak into the room and shut the door as silently as she had gotten there. She lay on her bed and cried silently into the pillows.

Naraku sat on the couch, watching as Ina shut the door. He frowned slightly and cracked open the door as she cried, his sensitive nose smelling the salt of her tears. He slipped in and sat on the edge of the bed. “What is the matter, Ina-San?”

“N-nothing, Naraku-San…”

“Crying does not point to nothing,” Naraku pointed out. Ina sniffled. “I'm in the finals for the auditions for this part in the chorus class. But I can't practice because nobody in the college will practice…And I'm going to do horrible compared to the other girls.

“It's going to be so embarrassing…Plus I told my friends about this guy that I liked…And they laughed at me and told me that I was making it up because the only one who matched the guy's description was too famous to be living in an apartment.”

Naraku knew that Ina meant that she liked him. He smirked slightly. “So they laughed at you for liking me? Okay. We'll just show them. And you need someone to help you? I'll help you out.”

“Y-You mean it?” Ina asked, looking up at Naraku with tearful eyes. Naraku nodded with a smug look. “But you need to do one thing for me in return.”

“What?”

“Become my secretary.”

“Sure!” Ina nearly glomped him but settled for a quick hug before backing away shyly.

Ina walked into the school the next day with Naraku right on her heels. “Hmmm…” He began, “I haven't been here for a while.” They continued on to the chorus class. The two of them had practiced the song several times the previous night.

Ina smiled slightly at the look on her friends' faces as she walked in with Naraku right behind her. “Now then,” She started, “Are we working on `Another Day' today?”

“Yes we are, Taisho-San.” The teacher informed. “Would you like to go first with your partner?”

“Yes please.” Ina smiled nervously at Naraku. She heard the music begin.. Then she knew exactly what would happen. She lost all nervousness.

“Who do you think you are? Barging in on me and my guitar. Little girl, hey, the door is that way!” Naraku pointed harshly to a door, acting it out and doing well. “You better go. You know, the fire's out anyway. Take your powder. Take your candle. Your sweet whisper, I just can't handle! Well, take your hair in the moonlight-your brown eyes, goodbye goodnight!

“I should tell you, I should tell you, I should tell you. I should-NO! Another time. Another Place. Our temperature would climb; there'd be a longer race. We'd do another dance. It'd be another play. Looking for romance? Come back another day. Another day.”

Ina began her part. “The heart may freeze. Or it can burn. The pain will ease if I can learn. There is no future, there is no past. I live this moment as my last!

“There's only us. There's only this. Forget regret. Or life is yours to miss. No other road; no other way. No day but today.”

Naraku began again. “Excuse me, if I'm off track. But if you're so wise then tell me-why do you need smack? Take your needle. Take your fancy prayer. Don't forget; get the moonlight out of your hair! Long ago you might have lit up my heart, but the fire's dead and never ever gonna start!

“Another time. Another place. The words would only rhyme, we'd be in outer space! It'd be another song. We'd sing another way. You wanna prove me wrong, come back another day. Another day!”

“There's only us. Only tonight. We must let go to know what's right! No other course. No other way. No day but today. I can't control….”

 

(~Ina Sama~ I'm getting a bit lazy so I'll label who says what.)

 

Naraku: “Control your temper…”

Ina: “My destiny…”

Naraku: “She doesn't see!”

Ina: “I trust my soul…”

“Who said that there's a soul?!”/“My only goal…”

Ina: “Is just to be…”

Naraku: “Just let me be!”

“Who do you think you are?”/“There's only now.”

“Barging in on me and my guitar!”/“There's only here. Begin to know or live in fear.”

“Little girl, hey. The door is that way!”/“No other path. No other way…”

Ina: “No day but today…”

Naraku: “The fire's out anyway!”

Ina: “No day but today!”

Naraku: “Take your powder! Take your candle!”

Ina: “No day but today!

Naraku: “Take your brown eyes, your pretty smile, your silhouette!”

Ina: “No day but today!”

Naraku: “Another time, another place, another round of wanted grace!”

Ina: “No day but today!”

Naraku: “Another dance, another way, another chance! Another day!” Naraku held out “day” as Ina came in with “No day but today…” and held out the “day” in “today”. The stopped after about 10 seconds and smiled at one another before sitting down. It had the teacher crying due to all of the feeling in their singing.
