Chapter 2

Inuyasha reveled in the blush that crept up the girl's neck, and over her cheeks. Absently he wondered how much of her shoulders and bust it covered. `And what a nice bust it is…' Inuyasha couldn't control the urge to glance down at the curves her shirt hinted at.

A waiter coughed politely. “Sir. May I take your order?” Inuyasha spared the man a glance before returning his gaze to Kagome's shirt. “Two coffees and a bowl of grapes please.” The waiter nodded and turned away to fetch their food.

Though she thought it was a little presumptuous of him to order for her, Kagome merely nodded at the man and tried not to shift uncomfortably under Inuyasha's hot stare. “So Kagome… let's talk about you. You still attend NYU?”

“Yes. I will be graduating in the spring.” Inuyasha nodded and leaned back in his chair, finally taking his eyes off of her chest. “An art major, yes?” she nodded. “What do you like to draw most?” Kagome drummed her fingers on the edge of her sketchbook.

“I love drawing people; all kinds of people, doing all sorts of things. Weather it's a bunch of kids playing soccer or that little old couple sitting over there.” She gestured with her head to the said couple, and flipped a page in her book. Indeed, there on the paper were those two elderly lovers drinking tea and smiling at each other.

`Wow…' Inuyasha was again awed by her art. “What kind of a student are you?” Inuyasha said, taking the bowl of grapes from the waiter and stirring sugar into his coffee. Kagome took her coffee from the waiter and poured in a liberal amount of cream. “School has always been the center of my life. I don't think I've gotten lower than an A- since middle school. That quarter I had gotten myself a boyfriend and we would talk on the phone for hours. Then I got that grade and my stepfather blamed my boyfriend and made us brake up. I haven't had a boyfriend sense then.” She laughed hollowly, sipping her coffee.

“So then tell me about your sex life.” Kagome almost choked on the bitter liquid. “I just told you I've never had a boyfriend! What sex life?” Inuyasha `hmmed' thoughtfully. “So, you're telling me you're a virgin? That you've never had a one-night stand?” he looked her up and down. “Bullshit.”

Kagome's mouth dropped open in indignation. “Yes! I'm telling you I'm still a virgin. Why would I lie about such a thing? It drives men away. `No one wants to be a woman's first'.” She quoted a man she had almost dated. Until he found out she was a virgin.

Inuyasha slowly set his coffee down and plucked a grape from the bowl. “I want to be your first. Grape?” Kagome blushed heavily and with a shaking hand moved to take the grape. “Ah-ah.” Inuyasha reprimanded, easily avoiding her searching hand and pressing the fruit to her lips. Her eyes widened and her lips trembled. Inuyasha forced the grape past her lips and kept his finger there, feeling her lips with the tips of this calloused fingers.

Placing his mouth strategically next to her ear, he whispered, “I will come with you while you gather your things, then I will take you to my -our- home.” Kagome couldn't suppress the shiver that took over her body.

“Well, ah… okay, um,” She nervously put her sketchbook back into her messenger bag, and stood up. “My friends' place is right across the street.” She held out her hand to her new Master.

All the way to Sango's apartment, Kagome was all too aware of Inuyasha's firm, calloused hands gently gripping hers. “It's right here.” She pulled him over to a middle-class apartment house. Unlocking it with her free hand, Kagome led her Master up two flights of stairs and to the fourth door on the right.

Removing her hand from his left lingering warmth on her skin. “Come on in, but watch out for Kilala. That cat doesn't take kindly to strangers.”

The one bed, one bath apartment was homey, if small. Kagome had obviously been sleeping on the couch - if the mussed blankets, pillow, and bag of cloths were any indication.

Kagome could feel his amber eyes watching her every move. It was quite unnerving.

Zipping up her bag and folding her blanket, she wrote a quick note to Sango saying that she had found a place and moved in immediately, took a steadying breath and stood. Kagome faced her Master and nervously said. “I'm ready.”

Inuyasha grinned. “Good. Come.”

Once again his hand was in possession of hers.

She didn't ask where he lived, only gave him secretive glances she thought he didn't notice. They passed Sbarro's and continued down the street and around the corner.

It was a long walk, and Inuyasha expected her to complain. Kikyo certainly did the first time they walked to his home. But Kagome didn't. Kagome was already showing him how different she was from Kikyo.

Kikyo had taken a few weeks before she put any trust in him. Kagome was already letting him lead her, and he had only known her a few hours.

As they turned a corner he experimentally stroked the inside of her wrist with the pad of his thumb. Kikyo had fully pulled away when he had done that the first time. Kagome just shivered with an unexpected dose of pleasure.

`Oh my God, I never thought your wrist was that sensitive.'

`She's so responsive and trusting. What did I do to deserve her?' “We're almost there. I'm sorry it's such a long walk.”

Kagome didn't say anything right away, only squeezed his hand and gave his arm a slight hug. `What the Hell? I'm not sorry for the walk… well, maybe if she hurt her feet on the way here. She'd be in real pain because of me.'

“It's fine, I love to walk.”

“Your feet don't hurt?” `Kikyo complained about her feet for days…' Inuyasha remembered, inwardly rolling his eyes.

“No, my feet are fine.” Kagome's voice relaxed him. `Good.'

Inuyasha lead her up his driveway and unlocked his uniquely painted red door. The house was obviously masculine. Worn hardwood floors, well loved black leather couches, plasma screen, dirtied cloths spread out haphazardly, and a big, shaggy black dog that met them at the door.

“Down Fang, no licking! Sit! Heel! Damn you dog!” The now named dog `Fang' pounced on his owner, thoroughly licking him to death. It was apparent Inuyasha's harsh tone wasn't to be taken seriously; his eyes told what his words could not. Soon, Fang's attention turned to Kagome.

Instead of backing into the corner and screaming at him to `get that beast away from her' like Kikyo did, Kagome kneeled down so she was eye to eye with the canine. She held still while the dog took his fill of her scent, and gave an approving bark to Inuyasha. Kagome was promptly attacked with dog kisses. Inuyasha decided right then and there that he loved her laugh.

“You've got a great dog.”

“Yeah, he's the best I could ask for.” Kagome finally escaped the land of slobber and followed him down a hall just past the living room.

“You have a choice. Because you're new you can either sleep in the guest room, or in my room.” If he had turned at that moment, he would have seen the heavy blush that painted her cheeks.

“Um…” Inuyasha finally turned and saw that blush he loved so much.

“The guest room, please.” She said in a meek voice.

“Right in here then.”

He directed her to a lovely… okay, not so lovely, plain white room with a bed -white sheet, comforter, and pillows- a bureau, and a desk. Being the artist Kagome was, she twitched at the lack of color.

“Don't make that face. You can redecorate as much as you like.”

“Really!?”

They hadn't been allowed to paint their dorm rooms, and her mother always liked clean colors. `I can finally have the room I've dreamed of!' In her excitement, Kagome forgot herself and gave Inuyasha a bone-crushing hug.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you!!”

Immediately she started separating her cloths, putting the clean in the bureau and the dirty off to the side to be washed later.

Inuyasha watched as his new sub became adjusted to her new room. `That look on her face when I told her she could redecorate, I want to see that look all the time.'

He watched as she took out a stack of pictures in frames and set them up on the top of the bureau. They were interesting pictures.

One was a recent picture of her and what looked like giant hairball, but the tail gave it away as a cat.

There was one of her and three friends in their high school soccer team uniforms.

Another was a very young Kagome with an older man -graying at the temples- Inuyasha supposed was her dad.

The last was of Kagome and a boy that looked about her age, if a little younger. The picture was obviously taken the past Christmas, the two had their arms flung around each other and their opposing cheeks pressed together in a comical way, completed with two giant goofy smiles.

Inuyasha felt a surge of jealousy. Who was this man his girlfriend was so fond of?
