Chapter 9
Home ec and a little confusion.
We entered the class room just as the bell rang.
Mrs. Shima announced, "Okay, today we are gonna pair up into groups of four and start baking!
All the guys groaned.
Mrs. Shima continued, "Today we will be baking chocolate chip cookies. Now pair up."
Bankotsu, Hakaku, Yuki, and I all ended up as a group.
We pulled the pans out and prepared everything.
We measured the ingredients and mixed them thoroughly.
Then we added the chocolate chips.
I put them in the oven while Yuki set the timer.
Hakaku and I then did the dishes.
Hakaku looked at me and said, "So thanks for helping me yesterday."
I smiled at him and replied, "You're welcome, and Hakaku, I know for a fact Kouga put you in there to protect me!" looking him dead in the eye.
Hakaku laughed nervously and asked, "You figured that out, huh?" while looking at me nervously.
I smiled sweetly and said, "Yup."
Then I looked at Hakaku and continued seriously, "And I called Kouga on it and chewed him out for it as well! I know you all care about me and worry for me, but the jig is up!"
Hakaku back peddled a tiny bit and said, "Um..."
I warned, "Don't try anything like that again! Are we clear?"
Hakaku gulped nervously and nodded vigorously.
I smiled and exclaimed, "Good!"
Then I walked over and hugged him to show him there were no hard feelings.
He blinked, in surprise then gratefully hugged me back.
The timer went off and Bankotsu cleared his throat rather loudly and mentioned dryly, "Time's up." while staring at us.
I pulled back from Hakaku and walked over to the oven.
Then I pulled on the oven mitts then opened the oven and removed the cookie sheets form the over.
I placed them on the cooling rack and warned sternly, "These are VERY hot, so be careful!" while looking at my group as i took off the mitts.
Yuki pouted and whined, "But I wanna eat one!"
I smiled and soothed, "After they cool you can! So who's gonna do the next batch?"
Yuki and Bankotsu walked over and made the second batch and did the dishes.
Mrs. Shima came over, sampled our cookies and exclaimed happily, "Very good job group B!"
We all nodded, then we split up the cookies evenly after they had cooled.
We were the first group finished.
Bankotsu looked at me and exclaimed clearly impressed, "You are a pro at this Cathy!" with happiness shinning in his eyes.
I blushed slightly at his compliment and replied, "Well when you live with Inuyasha and Sesshomaru, you either learn to cook or eat A LOT of ramen and take out!"
Bankotsu frowned and mentioned, "I didn't realize you three live together."
Hakaku looked at him and answered seriously, "Yeah ever since both sets of parents died, Sesshomaru has been the head of the family and Cathy moved in with them under Sesshomaru's order."
I nodded my confirmation.
Bankotsu looked shocked and declared, "No wonder you are all so close!"
I mentioned sadly, "Yeah, tragedy tends to make people closer."
Hakaku laid a comforting hand on my shoulder and I smiled gratefully at him.
Yuki practically draped herself over Bankotsu's back with her arms around his neck and asked flirtily, "So are you gonna take me to a movie tonight, hot stuff?"
I frowned then noticed Hakaku also frowned.
Bankotsu rolled his eyes, angrily removed her from his person and answered, "Nope sorry, I already have plans for tonight! And by the way, DON"T touch my braid!" as he glared in annoyance at her.
Yuki pouted and whined, "But I thought you liked me!?"
Bankotsu sighed heavily and informed her seriously, "Nope! Sorry but sorry I don't!."
Yuki huffed and sat off in a corner alone, sulking.
Bankotsu looked over at me.
I quickly turned away and started doing the dishes and final clean up.
Hakaku walked over and helped me.
Bankotsu sat at the table and leaned back with his hands stretched out behind his head and watching us.
Just as soon as we were finished, Bankotsu stood up and walked over to me.
Bankotsu opened his mouth to say something but was cut off by the bell.
The bell rang and I immediately walked out the door.
Hakaku ran up behind me and queried, "So, see ya Saturday then, right?"
I smiled and confirmed, "Yup! Tell Ginta I am looking forward to it!"
Hakaku nodded and took off.
I walked over to the gym, into the girls locker room and changed into my gym shorts and t shirt.
P.E. and another confrontation with Yuske.
Just as I had finished dressing, the bell rang.
I walked into the gym and stood leaning against the wall, next to Ayame.
A few minutes later Kouga and Bankotsu walked out of the guys locker room and joined us.
Mr P. came in and announced, "Again today, 4 COMPLETE laps around the school."
Then he blew the whistle and we all took off running.
Again 25 minutes later Kouga, Bankotsu, Ayame, and I had all completed ours laps.
I walked off alone to get a drink of water.
As I was getting a drink, Yuske grabbed me from behind again and pushed me against the wall.
I narrowed my eyes at him and shoved him off.
Yuske demanded angrily, "Who the hell was that guy yesterday!?"
I glared at Yuske and said evenly, "NONE of your damn business!"
Yuske balled up his fist and demanded, "TELL ME!"
I scoffed and retorted, "Not even in your dreams, jackass!"
Yuske moved to throw a punch at me, but I quickly blocked it then I dropped to the ground and swept his feet out from under him, knocking him onto his back.
I stood up straight again and glared down at a VERY shocked Yuske and snapped, "Don't you EVER try to hit me again! Got it!? Now take your sorry ass out of my face!"
Kouga, Bankotsu, and Ayame all walked up, looked at Yuske on the ground and promptly burst out laughing.
Yuske jumped up and demanded, "What's so damn funny!?" glaring at all of them and me.
Koga hooted with laughter and answered, "You getting your ass kicked by a girl! Your EX- girlfriend no less!"
Then Kouga laughed even harder.
Yuske went to throw another punch at me, I blocked it again and threw him over my hip, with a hip toss.
He glared up at me again.
I warned seriously, "I am NOT the same girl you knew a couple years ago! This girl takes crap from NO ONE! ESPECIALLY not you, jackass!" as I stared him dead in the eye.
Yuske stood up, glared at me a full minute and angrily stormed away.
Kouga picked me up in a hug, grinned and said encouragingly, "Atta girl!"
Then he deposited me gently on my feet.
Ayame slapped her thigh and exclaimed happily, "That was so worth it!" amusement dancing in her emerald eyes.
Bankotsu walked over to me and stated impressed, "Damn girl! That was pretty smooth! I bet he doesn't mess with you again anytime soon!" with laughter in his blue eyes.
Then we all four walked back outside together, and sat down in the grass.
10 minutes later
Ayame and I were sitting together and chatting.
Across from us were Bankotsu, and Kouga.
Kouga looked at me and asked, "So Cathy, any plans for tonight?"
I looked at him and replied, "Yeah, Sango and I work till 11pm tonight and tomorrow."
Kouga queried, "How bout Friday then?"
I answered evenly, "Hakudoshi and I are working on our science project after school Friday.Then Saturday after work I promised Ginta and Hakaku I would stop by and see Ginger. Why?"
Kouga answered, "Oh just curious, that's all."
I rolled my eyes and retorted, "Uh huh! More like interrogating me and gleaning information for my cousins."
Kouga's eyes widened and he actually blushed which told me I had hit the nail on the head!
I warned sternly, "Kouga! If I find out you are spying on me for them, I will be FURIOUS with ALL of you! Got it!?" staring him dead in the eye.
Kouga nodded.
Ayame turned to him and angrily scolded, "You had better not be spying, Kouga!"
I turned to Ayame and exclaimed, "FINALLY someone gets it! Thanks Ayame!"
She smiled warmly at me and nodded.
Bankotsu looked at me and stated seriously, "Man, I thought you were just exaggerating about it Cathy! But I can see now that you were serious when you said they treat you like a baby!"
I sighed heavily and nodded.
I looked directly at Kouga and informed him, "Speaking of which! I told your little spy the jig is up! And IF you EVER do that again Kouga, So help me, I will NEVER speak to you again! Now, are we clear!?"
Kouga sighed and defended, "I was just trying to protect you."
I looked Kouga dead in the eye as I stood to my feet and scolded, "I know that, but you are gonna have to face facts! I am NOT a baby anymore and I am NOT a weak, helpless, little girl anymore either! I get enough of this shit from Yash and Sessh! I don't need it from you too! Between the three of you I can't go ANYWHERE without a spy around and I have reached my limit!"
I approached him with my hands on my shapely hips and pleaded, "Kouga PLEASE back off just a tad and let me be the strong woman you three have made me into."
Kouga sighed heavily, then stood up and stormed off angrily.
Ayame looked at me sympathetically and assured soothingly, "Don't worry! I will go talk to him."
I nodded, and Ayame took off chasing after Kouga.
I sighed heavily and muttered, "The LAST thing I need right now is another over bearing, over protective man that treats me like a damn baby!" feeling very frustrated and caged.
Bankotsu walked up behind me and whispered fiercely, "Don't worry! I won't treat you like a baby!"
Then he turned me around, looked me up and down and continued flirtatiously "I can see you are definitely NOT a baby! But are indeed a full grown woman! And a hot one at that!" with pure male appreciation in his serious sapphire eyes.
I felt my face heat up as I turned a very bright shade of pink, because I was blushing so hard.
Bankotsu chuckled then continued seriously, "The LAST thing I would ever do is treat you like a baby!" staring me dead in the eye.
I nodded and replied, "Thanks! That is nice to know at least."
Then he gently reached out and rubbed his thumb over my soft lips as he looked intently into my eyes.
He moved his hand to the back of my neck and pulled me forward while he lips gently descended to mine.
He lightly ran his tongue over my lips, silently asking for permission to enter.
I grew daring and opened my mouth to him.
He grinned and slowly slipped his tongue into my mouth and started gently exploring inside my mouth.
His arms dropped to my waist and mine went up around his neck.
He pulled me into him and I immediately leaned further into the kiss.
He changed the kiss from soft, gentle, and exploring, to demanding and consuming.
I kissed him back eagerly, matching his passion with my own.
He broke the kiss and leaned his for head on mine as we caught our breaths.
I whispered in awe, "I have never had a kiss quite like that before!"
He smirked and replied, "Neither have I!" as we gazed into each others eyes.
We pulled apart and walked back into the gym.
We wen to the locker rooms and showered and changed.
Just as we walked back out into the gym, the bell rang announcing school is out.
Bankotsu walked over to me and said seriously, "Meet me tomorrow at my locker, before school! Alright?"
I nodded.
He grinned and we walked over to the school entrance.
I walked over to Sango's car, then hopped in.
Bankotsu leaned in through the window and gave me a quick brush of his lips on mine then pulled back and smirked.
I smiled at him blushing again.
Sango saw this and tried to hide a smile of her own.
He walked off and Sango drove us both to the dinner.
