No mutt face, no wolf guy, no demon slayer, no dead hell bent clay bitch, no monk, no fox kid, and no girl with a yellow backpack. No, this fic is too good for them. (Hee, hee) Oh yeah I don't any of these anime characters mainly cause I don't live in Japan and because my name isn't Rumiko Takahashi. Also because I can't even draw stick figures right still! He walked alone. His long silver hair blew gracefully in the cool springtime air. His cold golden eyes glisten against the sunlight. He made hardly any sound as he walked through the forest. He couldn't remember the last time he been alone. He left that girl with his toad youkia servant far from where he was. He needed time to think. To be by himself. He hadn't killed anything or anybody in a while. He was still enraged at that disgrace he had for a brother a half brother. No one knew what it was like to have such a burden. To be diminished of what was obliviously your rightful birthright. To see your rightful birthright taken be your weaker and inferior half-breed sibling. To nearly being shot down by that same half-breed's human wench. Made a fool of and mock by him. To lose a limb by him. Why do others put him in category of bad? In retrospect, was it not him who had spare that foolish half-breed life many of times? He could had killed him long ago. Aye begin a great and powerful Inu-Youkia had its quirks. Especially when you were Lord Sesshomaru of the western lands.

Perhaps he was destined to fall under the family cursed. He to now had a little human wench by his side. Only somehow, she was different from all the others human females. A silence one. She never utter a sound only grunts and little cries. Was she a mute? There was something strange about her. He still had no idea why he bought her back to life. Was it the fact that she tried to help him or the fact that she look to pathetic laying dead on the ground after being mauled by those wolfs? Why did he even give a damn? The same could go for Jaken. Jaken gave him headaches to no abounds. Jaken stupid schemes and tricks were beneath him. No matter how many times he tried to kill him, no matter how many times, he cast stones at him, or how many times he abused him. That stupid toad followed him. Perhaps it was his stupidity in itself that made him useful for cheap entertainment and service. Actually, like, he had concluded many times before he didn't want to know why he kept the bothersome toad around. The toad and that girl was just something that he allowed near him. They both obliviously didn't have anyone or anywhere to go to but him.

The young handsome youkia lord rested near a large rock covered in moss by the great blue sea. How far had he traveled by himself he didn't know nor cared. As long as he returned before nightfall. He already knew Jaken was useless in looking out for himself let alone looking after a human female child at all. They would both starve to death if he didn't return in a few hours. The sun was setting into the purplish orange sky. He let out a sigh. It was his duty as a lord to take care of all his possessions. The girl he concluded was his reasonability now because he took her from the land of the dead. Jaken was his reasonability because he was something passed down from his father no doubt. Though many of times he wished that Jaken was the muted one and the girl could talk. If she could talk, would she know to hold her tongue until spoken too or would she gossip and babble on like human females for the most part do? That child had an effect on him that he wasn't sure if he liked or disliked. He hated that. Being unsure of things that at first seemed so simple but later wasn't. Why did that girl follow him? She had no reason too. She knew that he was a youkia yet she didn't care. Why? Did she not want to be with her own kind?

He got up from where he was resting and began walking back to where he left his toad servant and the human child. Funny it seem to take the same amount of time walking both ways. When he arrived, the girl was seemed to be laughing and Jaken was on fire. He didn't ask any question as he stamp the flames out with his foot. As soon as Jaken had, stop rolling around and ranting about be kicked into the campfire by the stupid girl. He was order to restart the fire. The toad didn't waste any more time with his senseless babble and did as order. The girl came closer to him as she look up at him with her dark brown eyes and smiled.

Lord Sesshomaru: What is it girl?

The question remain unanswered for the girl just dropped her graze and went to sleep. Strange human child. She asked for no food or water though she did eat some berries early in the morning. She hardly ate anything at all. Just follow him like a shadow. Jaken watch in completed disgust she took his spot he always laid by his lord side. Well by his foot anyway. Now he was far off too the side in the cold. He watched as Lord Sesshomaru just stared into the flames heavy in thought. It made his bulge eye heavy with sleep and then he did so. Much to Lord Sesshomaru relief. Having Jaken look at him like some sick lost animal was starting to get to him. Though he had a high level of self-control.

As for himself, he had already gotten his two hours of sleep he didn't need anymore. Humans were so weak and inactive. How could a creature sleep for eight- ten hours? Yes there was many of things he either did not know or chose not to know. Yet, no matter how much he thought on other subjects he thoughts always led him back to the girl. He didn't even know her name. She had a name didn't she? If she didn't it, matter not. He didn't plan on having any more small human children following him. He looked down at her again.

He took notice for some reason or other that the child had many marks on her body still. Come to think of it, she looked like she had been beaten and attacked when they first met. Was it because she was a mute? Or because she was a small human child, no one wanted? Is that why she followed him? He wasn't about to offer any love to her that's for sure. Love was for weak foolish men. Love was what started the family cursed. His father fell in love with his mother and look, what happen his mother was killed by an enemy of his father for love. Then his father fell for a human woman who bore his father a half-breed son and to him a half-breed younger brother. That was disgrace. What more, she was the reason why his father had to die only then to die herself. Leaving him with a useless hanyou brother, who just barely stopped having wetting problems. He hadn't taken care of him so why is he taking care of this human child?

Everything was contradicting itself. If he hadn't taken care of a hanyou then why take care of a full human? Perhaps he was losing his mind. If he was, it was only one person to blame for it. He would curse that name to the day he would die. He was the better of the two. Why his father couldn't see it, he had no idea.

On the other hand, he really hadn't done anything for the child but bought her back from the dead. It was her choice to follow him. He didn't feed her or give her water to drink. He left Jaken to watch her. As he study her from afar. If only she could talk he would demanded these answers. Thus, his mind could be at rest once more. Perhaps this was a test to see if human and demon could live in peace together without any problems. More likely, this girl was probably going to be the death of him.

[Next day]

He opened his eyes again. Why had he fallen asleep in the first place? Oh yes to stop the thoughts about the girl. Today would make it almost two weeks since the girl had been with him. He looked down at her sleeping on his TAIL! How did she get a hold of his tail while hadn't he notice that she had been sleeping on his tail. First time he ever fell THAT deep into sleep. He had to clear his mind perhaps he needed to take another walk. Jaken was whimpering in his sleep still. It was early he tried lifting his tail from the girl.

Sesshomaru: Let go of my tail girl.

No responds came as he look down at her who was now whimpering in her sleep. Was she scared? Humans were scared so easily especially the younger and weak ones. Though to touch his tail meant death to many. He got up and the girl tumble off his tail in a whimper. She awoke now yet he ignored her. Jaken could sleep for two more hours what a lazy servant he was turning himself into. He walked and she followed. He turned around. Did she realized that she couldn't walk without making noise?

Sesshomaru: Do not followed me.

The girl stared with her head cock to the side and gave him a smile. In return, he cocked a eyebrow. Was this her way of saying good morning? He sighed inaudible to the girl. Strange little one she was. He kept walking he wanted to get away again. She kept following. He looked back and she smiled.

Sesshomaru: stay with Jaken girl. Stop defying me.

The girl looked up with him with sorrow in he eyes. As she stood there watching him walking away for Sesshomaru this was somehow nerve racking. What did she want? Why was she always following him? She was like a little pet or something. She knew she wasn't getting any attention found him so why did she silently request it? He could feel her eyes still watching him. Why did she always stare at him didn't she know it was rude to keep stare at people like that? It made his stomach turn and his mind numb. Far away, this time and perhaps he would leave her and Jaken for a few days. Though the girl kept following. He stopped and stare at her. This only made her smile as she caught up and grabbed his hand.

Lord Sesshomaru: Let go of my hand before I take yours off. (Low growl)

Though he was still on edge. If an another demon saw this he knew he would have to kill the beast fast word couldn't be spread about this is. He had too much pride to let this get out in the open. He already had her smell on him. Then the girl said something his ears just barely caught it. For the voice was real soft spoken.

Sesshomaru: what did you say?

Rin: Rin.

Sesshomaru: Rin, is that what you call yourself?

The girl only nodded slightly but hadn't let go of his hand. As she stood there smiling at him. He let out a slight sigh. This girl could be more trouble than she was worth. Yet, she could talk. He began to walk as the girl stayed fixed to his hand

Lord Sesshomaru: Tell me, why do you keep following me?

Rin: your nice. (Giggle)

Why did fate enjoy torturing him so? So they child didn't talk because she was slow in the head. The inner unpatience demon within him was trying to take control. If he allowed it too the girl, Rin would lose more than her hand. Which had now grown tighter around his. He sighed as he walked back to camp. Well it answer most of his question of course the human didn't want the girl if she was slow minded. What had happen to her parents though? Had they been devour by the wolf demons or had they all ready been dead? An orphan then.

Lord Sesshomaru: You will answer my questions. Why are your following me human child? I offer you nothing but your life so why plague me?

Rin: where Jaken? Let's find him.

The girl was either very brave to ignore his questions like that or really stupid. He for some reason or another choice the latter of the two and walked on. It was better if they traveled. If he found a village, he could drop the girl off. If she could talk then she could look after herself and stay with her own kind. Thus, he would be rid and free of her.

[Back at camp]

Jaken: Milord! Where did you go? I restarted the fire. Shall we continue patrolling the lands?

Lord Sesshomaru: yes.

Jaken: (finally notice Rin.) Milord that child. She…she's…touching….your…hand.

Sesshomaru: I am aware of that Jaken.

Well Jaken was at a loss of words. As his eyes started bulging out his little head. Lord Sesshomaru never allowed him to ever touch him without harm. How could the human child touch him? What did she ever do! It wasn't fair!

[Crack]

Though the rock hadn't been thrown by Sesshomaru himself, Jaken was still flat on his face as a hint of amusement landed its way into Sesshomaru's cold eyes. Though he kept his face stone cold letting no emotions show. As she looked at the girl who smiled at him.

Rin: Jaken slow.

Lord Sesshomaru: `hmm I was wrong perhaps about the girl. I keep her with me for a little while longer. Perhaps she isn't is so useless for a human child.' Jaken! Get up, we are leaving now.

Jaken: Yes Milord.

Jaken jumped at Sesshomaru's bark. Jaken tried to hurry but Rin tripped him and the little toad youkia was again flat on his face. Morons. Sesshomaru thought as he walked past them both. Jaken shot draggers at Rin who just stared coldly back at him. He deserve it for he had started to abuse her. Of course, it was the jealousy there too. As he attempted to get up again Rin gave him a good kick in the butt. As Jaken got some more tasty dirt in his mouth.

Rin: Faster Froggy!

Jaken: How dare you! Milord this girl has gone mad! She is abusing me!

Lord Sesshomaru: (far away but doesn't care Jaken many bruises) So she is.

Jaken: (grumbling something about frying her) Stupid human!

Rin: stupid Froggy!

[Major shock for Jaken]

Jaken: did….did…you…just…talk!?! But….your…your…a….stupid…human!?!

[Crack]

Rin: stupid Froggy your bad! Rin is not stupid.

Jaken: who is Rin?

Rin: Rin is Rin.

Jaken: That what you are? I thought your were human.

[Crack]

He was ignore as Rin rushed to catch up to Sesshomaru again. She had grown tired of feeding Jaken dirt. Sesshomaru looked down at her again as she was walking with her arms swinging back and forth humming. What an abusive thing she had quickly grown into. Then again, he had found Jaken nearly killed or eaten before. Therefore, he already knew that Jaken was not a likable creature. (A/n: Damn straight! Ahem.) Yet it seems that she was not as mute or slow at his first intended her to be after all she was a human child how smart could she be?

Jaken: Milord the girl she speaks! (Yeah he finally caught up too.)

Lord Sesshomaru: I have figure that out Jaken.

Jaken: Milord does that mean we can send her back to her own kind? It seems that she can take care of herself. `Or leave her in the woods. She needs to be eaten by wolf abusive brat! I won't be able to sit straight for weeks.'

Lord Sesshomaru: she will stay with us till I say otherwise. Don't question the matter anymore unless you want a painful death.

Jaken: `WHAT!?! NO! MILORD WHY? SHE'S JUST A STUPID HUMAN GIRL! MY POOR HEAD IT CAN'T TAKE ANOTHER…..'

[Crack]

Rin: Jaken slow. Rin walk faster than Froggy Jaken

Jaken: Shut up! You will respect me human! (Author snickers. Not in this fic she won't)

Rin: (rolls eyes) Jaken needs shut up. Talk too much, hurt Rin's ears. (Holding her ears)

Jaken: WHY YOU! (Makes that funny nuck, nuck grunting noise that I think is the only thing that he does that funny)

Rin: Stupid.

Jaken: No your stupid.

Rin: Your ugly.

Jaken: You stink.

Rin: Your fat!

Jaken: WHAT! HOW DARE YOU! I'll BURN YOU!

Rin: With your stinky breath. (Stick tongue at him)

Jaken: YOU! YOU! (Can't think of anything to say)

Lord Sesshomaru: Silence! Or I rip your voice boxes out! (Growling. Rubbing his temples.)

It was enough to make them both shut up. It was enough to shut anyone up Sesshomaru even had that cold and icy murderous look to go with his words. Their was no doubt in either toad or girl mind that he wouldn't do it if they didn't shut up. Ticking off Sesshomaru for most meant death. Rin covered her mouth. Jaken landed ungraceful on the ground. His poor heart couldn't and hadn't got use to his lord growls and icy cold death glares. Who ever said looks couldn't kill was a liar. He bow his head down and didn't look Sesshomaru way anymore. Though he was still shooting draggers at "Rin."

Jaken: `Rin, what a stupid name for a stupid human.'

[Later that night]

The girl had made herself comfy near Sesshomaru again. It had been peaceful since he had threaten them. The girl even more of a question now. She went from stoning his bumbling servant down till putting flower on him. The whole day had been one extreme to another. The girl was mute no more and she was like for the most part a normal human child. Though she didn't know or wouldn't tell him about anything about her past. Though for some reason or another he didn't kill her for her defying him. Which shock Jaken who now feared the girl almost more than Lord Sesshomaru himself. She was getting away with stuff that most real demons that even heard of Lord Sesshomaru wouldn't not dared to do.

Rin unknowingly or not was driving Jaken crazy and extremely envious and making Sesshomaru quite the observer of human behavior. Though now he wished he wouldn't had question everything. He already missed the two weeks that had past by. Though still unlike most females, the girl was in fact a quite one when she was bickering with Jaken. Though it was strange how she just demanded power from him but he had told Jaken, he would kill him if he hurt the girl anymore. Though it seemed the girl could defend herself against the toad for the most part.

Rin look up at Sesshomaru with well one of us viewers who say really cute facial expression while Sesshomaru just found it most disturbing. For the word cute was not in his vocabulary and probably never, will.

Lord Sesshomaru: Have you grown sick?

Rin: Rin sleepy Sesshomaru-sama.

Lord Sesshomaru: Then sleep.

Rin: can Rin sleep on your fluffy tail again Sesshomaru-sama?

Lord Sesshomaru: You may not. Now go to sleep. You have bother me enough.

Rin gave him a big frown and curl herself in a ball near him and went to sleep. Foolish girl his tail was something to sleep on. She should go and find herself suitable clothing if she didn't want to freeze or have something to sleep on. She chose to follow him had she not? Then she should take care of herself. At least she had started addressing him properly though she kept talking in third person when referring to herself. He would have to train her into saying I, me, and myself. Humans were so stupid.

[Next morning]

In the usually order Sesshomaru awoken first to find his tail wrapped around the girl. How did she get a hold on it? Though as he looked at the position of his tail wrapped around Rin it became clear that his subconscious had played a role in it. Fine, he would take care of the child but only because she was something of interest to observe. The sun was rising. He would take her back to his home for a while. It was coming into the cold season and the girl could use a bath again. As for himself.

Sesshomaru: Jaken awaken now.

Jaken: (eyes snaps open) Yes milord!

Sesshomaru: Good now lets go.

Jaken: (noticing the position of Sesshomaru's tail) Milord! The girl has your tail wrapped around her!

Lord Sesshomaru: I have become aware of that Jaken. Silence I do not wish for her to be awaken. We shall be going back home. Her scent is dirty she needs to be clean.

Jaken: back….back…home? Milord we are keeping her!?!

Lord Sesshomaru: Jaken, what did I say about questioning what I do with the girl? (Evil icy glare)

Jaken: (shaking and down on the ground) I'm sorry milord. I forgot myself. Spare me milord it won't happen again.

Lord Sesshomaru: It had better not. Forget yourself again and I'll slice you in half. (Walks off)

Jaken: yes milord. (Notice that he has been gone as he was groveling to himself for the past ten minutes.) Wait for me milord! (Takes off away him)

[Back at the castle]

Rin had been washed and fitted in a new kimono. The other servants knew not to even question why Lord Sesshomaru bought a small human child to the castle they knew better. Jaken was moped around yet knew to do whatever his lord wanted him to do. He had now being appointed as Rin's top playmate. The poor toad nearly had a heat attack. It seemed that the girl didn't fear any demon at all. No, matter the shape or size. Out of politeness and the unsure ness of what kind of relationship the human girl had with Lord Sesshomaru, the servants did everything the girl said. This even included kicking Jaken around the courtyard as if she was a ball.

Most of the servants joined in this activity till Sesshomaru put a stop to all of that foolishness. Jaken was now entirely grateful to his lord for this. Though Sesshomaru didn't wish to use the Tenseiga on the stupid toad today or any thing else. It was that sword that got him in this confusion in the first place. Nay it was his father that had gave him the wrong sword. Thus, a ball was found and Rin played with that as Lord Sesshomaru found peace in his study and later out "hunting." He enjoyed the kill and it took a lot of stress away. He didn't know what was happening to him but it was something about that girl. Maybe she was a young witch in training. It matter not. At least he had been correct the castle kept the girl busy as she wander around with Jaken at her heels.

When he came back, Rin clutched herself to his leg and greeted him with a big smile. With freaked out most of the servants. To save himself from the stares and that the rumors that were sure to follow.

Lord Sesshomaru: It is time for you to go to bed. Come.

[Less than ten minutes later]

Rin: wow Rin will sleep here! Thank you Sesshomaru-sama!

Lord Sesshomaru: It is where I have order you be kept at.

Rin: will Sesshomaru-sama sleep in here with Rin too?

Lord Sesshomaru: You will sleep by yourself. Stop saying Rin when referring to yourself say I, me, or myself. I growing tried of you speaking in third person.

Rin: Rin is I? (Snatching her head with the newly found info) Rin is me? Rin is myself? (Pointing to herself shakes head) but Rin is Rin Sesshomaru-sama. Why should Rin be I?

Lord Sesshomaru: (low growl) Just rest. You will be educated later.

Rin: (runs up and grab his hand again) wait don't go Rin has something to tell you.

Lord Sesshomaru: speak quickly then go to sleep. You getting up early tomorrow to learn.

Rin: (smiling) Rin thanks Sesshomaru-sama for giving her a big new home and saving Rin life and for making everyone play with umm I, Rin. Especially Jaken. He's fun to kick around.

Lord Sesshomaru: good then he will be teaching you tomorrow.

Jaken who was just out of the door way heard this nearly fainted. NO! Now he had to teach the girl how to read and write and gods knows what else. What did he ever do to deserve this?

Jaken: Lord Sesshomaru can't some else do it.

Sesshomaru: (evil glare) Unless you wish to die tonight Jaken, you will keep silence for the rest of the night and make sure that a bath is drawn for me.

Jaken: Sorry milord. (Covers his mouth at Sesshomaru's growl and runs the hell out of the room.)

Rin: Jaken really stupid. Make Sesshomaru-sama angry. Still make Rin's ears hurt. Bad Froggy voice.

Lord Sesshomaru: (that sparkle of amusement finds its way into his eyes) you shall be silence and go to bed as well.

Rin: I will Sesshomaru-sama. Right now. (Closes eyes as curl up in a ball.)

Lord Sesshomaru: `what kind of spell do you have on me?' (Looks down at Rin then leaves)

Then in less than a half hour, Sesshomaru had once again bathe and was turning in for the night himself. He may never figure the human child out but one thing was for certain she was going to stay for a while. Till she was fit to go off on her own. So all questions aside the girl was his and that meant like he had told himself many times that he had to take care of her. Even though in the end it could mean his untimely death.

Though in the small corner of the room. A small and stupid toad-youkia was thinking the same thing. Only he knew the girl was going to give him an early death. Jaken was crying silent tears how did he become a human child plaything? It just wasn't fair he had lost the little respect he had. He didn't have Sesshomaru' great inu-hearing so the servants could talking behind his back and get away with it. Besides, the fact that they couldn't talk about Sesshomaru if they wanted to keep their life so they talked about the lowly toad instead. One thing for sure Rin had change and was going to keeping change all there lives for better and for worst.
