Silence
Ch. 2

"What's taking her so long?" Shippo whined, ducking to avoind Inuyasha's fist.

"I must say I'm quite conserned myself, an hour to bathe is a long time, maybe I'll-" He said slyly as he stood up and casually walked toward where Kagome had stormed off.

"Don't even think about it ya lecher." Inuyasha growled, glaring up at the monk. Truth be told, he was getting worried too, it was already getting dark.

"Oh, Inuyasha..." Miroku blinked, looking surprised, "would you rather go? I didn't think you were like that." He raised an eyebrow questionably.

"Keh, that's cuz I'm not." It wasn't the fact that she was gone so long, it was that damn blood, he could still smell it, and he couldn't even remember her getting hurt when they fought that bear.

But the weird thing was, the blood didn't stink. Queit the opposite, actually, it enticed him. What was he feeling? He didn't understand. She sorta smelled like Sango did sometimes, every now and then, she'd start smelling like blood, even if they hadn't been in a fight. But he never really gave Sango a second thought when her scent got that spicy edge.

He crossed his arms and tried not to breath, her smell was making his head groggy. Wait, was it getting stronger? He was about to get up when another smell hit him. Well, the smell had been there a while, but he was too deep in thought to notice it, thankfully, because it was a male, and his musk.

So near here? He thought, disgusted, it was clearly demon. I know he knows we're here, you'd think he'd take his mate further away. He snorted, trying to get the stench from his nose when realization hit him like a ton of bricks. That smell, it was coming from the pond. Kagome's smell, if it was doing that to him...what about another demon?

"SHIT!" Inuyasha shot up, eyes wide, color drained from his face, "KAGOME!" It came to him all at once, there was more blood, fresh blood, Kagome's blood.

"What is it?" Sango asked, fearful of whatever had frightened himself so much. "What's wrong with Kagome?"

She never got her answer, Inuyasha had already shot off into the trees.

~~~~~~~~~~
That's where he found her.
This girl, human girl, naked in a fetal position. He could smell salt, tears presumably. Tears, and something else. He knew what had happened, this girl was in heat, she obviously couldn't protect herself when a demon was aroused by her scent.
He, Sesshomaru, Great Demon Lord of the Western Lands, turned and walked away from the sorry sight. The health of his brother's little wench was of no consern to him.
Before he got a few steps away, Rin came up beside him and gasped at the sight of the older girl. Normally, Sesshomaru would've just walked away, but the tears that sprang to the child's eyes after seeing the bloody pulp made him think twice.
"Jakken." He called.
"Yes, Master?" The frog looking demon piped up. (*shiver* in that sooo annoying voice. ~ac~*)
"Memorize this girl's measurments, and go to the neares village to get her some fine clothes."
"But my Lord, she's just a human girl, what do we care?"
"Do you smell it Jakken? That demon is still near, and will probably come back for her."
"Yes, m'Lord, but...how does that concern us again?"
Sesshomaru looked down at his servant, face blank. "Jakken, do you wish to question me?"
"N-n-no, m'Lord!"
"Then go."
"Right!" He scampered off, presumably towards a village.
Rin came up behind Sesshomaru and grabbed on to the bottom of his pants, giving them a small tug. "What's wrong with her?" She asked in a low voice.
"She's been attacked, Rin. Which is why you aren't to leave my side unless Jakken is near, understood?" She nodded.
Now what to do with this girl? His mind searched for answers. My idiotic half-brother is close, I can smell him. But why isn't he here? He walked closer to the girl, eyeing the blood on her sides from obvious claw marks. He let out a rare sigh and bent over to pick up the woman.
When he had her shoulder and knees bent into his arms (note: wedding style), he stood, walking away from the sight. He found this girl smelt nothing of the humans he was used to dealing with. They smelt of grime and sweat, but this one smelled of blossoms, and a few other sweet scents he couldn't place. Then there was the smell of that wolf's musk, which was making him nausious.
"Come, Rin." He commanded, calling his cloud. She nodded and climbed on, hands still clinging to his pants while she stared up at Kagome.
She remembered seeing her a few times, and this girl was always so nice to her, smiling...why would anyone want to attack her?
"KAGOME!" Inuyasha ran faster than he ever had in his life, crashing though the brush and trees, ingoring the cuts and scrapes. He didn't stop untill he sloshed his feet in water, taking a few breaths. Ok, Kagome, please be here, I'll let you hit me and pull my ears and sit me all you want and... He chanted, carefully searching the area for any signs of life, ears perked and straining to hear any sort of sound.
He smelled it again, that damn demon's musk. It was heavy in the air when he approached her bag, abandoned by a tree. Kagome... He thought, his suspisions confirmed when he crouched down, eyeing speckled of blood on the grass.
He sat down heavily, eyes closed, trying to tell himself it was just a dream. That Kagome was next to him, throwing rocks and sitting him to hell and back for catching him sneak a peek at her while she was bathing. He always had a good excuse: He was chasing Shippo, he thought something was wrong, but the truth of the matter was, he was just as bad as Miroku, but only when it came to Kagome.
As if on cue, Miroku-followed by Sango, Shippo, and Kirara (lol, happy? ~ac~)-excited the brush, wiping dirt and leaves off his robes.
"Care to expain what's going on, Inuyasha?" He pressed.
"Here's Kagome's things," Sango concluded, pickin up her friend's bag, "But where's Kagome?"
Inuaysaha stood, slowly, silently, as if in a trance. All the emotion drained from his face, save for total and complete shock.
"Inuyasha?" She asked, clearly worried.
It was then that Shippo jumped on Miroku's shoulder, holding his nose, and said the worst thing he could possibly say: "Whew! Wow, it smells like ma and pop excused themselves for the night!"
Sango and Miroku's faces were the mirrors of horror. It would have been comical, had the situation not been so serious.
Inuyasha's shoulders shuddered and took a deep breath. What is that? He thought to himself, nearly trembling with anger, his eyes narrowed when he finally registered the scent, "Wolf," He growled, so low they barely heard.
"A wolf did this?" Sango asked, slinging Kagome's bag over her own shoudler.
"Can you tell which pack he's from?" Miroku asked.
"It's not that easy!" He snapped, whirling to face Miroku, "There are many other scents that kinda stand out right now!"
Miroku gulped audibly and nodded, backing away.
Shippo, oblivious to the conversation, put two and two together, "Hey..." He interupted, head down, deep in thought, "I didn't know Kagome had a mate- "
"She doesn't! Stay out of this you little Shit!" I'll give you three guesses who said that one.
"Then why-"
"Because I wasn't here to..protect...her..." His voice broke with the last few words. He wasn't crying, but close to it, more like a dry cry. His shoulders heaved and he took in deep, raspy breaths.
"Come on, Inuyasha." Miroku said quietly.
"She's got to be around here somewhere," Sango finished hopefully.
"I don't know," Inuyasha lowerd his head, "I can't sort these scents out too well." He sighed.
"Don't give up!" She encouraged."We know you'll figure it out!"
He nodded, calming a bit, he couldn't help Kagome if he couldn't even think straight. When I find this demon, I'm gonna tear him apart and feed him to Kirara! He seethed, nosing around the outskirts of the 'crimescene'.
He was about to go around to the other side when another scent hit him, a familiar canince scent. His shoulders went taught and a deep growl emitted from his throat.
"What is it now?" Shippo asked, jumping behind Sango for protection.
"Sesshomaru!"
Dark.
< br> Pain, silence was all she could remember. It was quiet, why was it so quiet? It scared her, no sound, maybe nothing was around her. It terrified her to think she was all alone.
Then again, maybe it was better. Being alone ment he wasn't there. She shuddered, pain coursing through her lower body and sides, punishment for remembering what had taken place...how long ago?
I need to get up! Kagome thought desperatly, I have to find Inuyasha, I wanna go home, mama... She tossed to her side, eyes still closed. There was a slight rustling sound, Grass? She wondered, no, it's smooth, like silk. Silk? She froze, Oh God! He took me to his bed! Still dark, she shuddered again before lying on her stomach, settling into the pillow.
