Inuyasha peered from the darkened depths of the shadows near his old apartment/dance studio. Completely unknown to Kagome as she slept peacefully in the larger than life bed.

Inuyasha looked into the full length mirror across the way, only seeing two of his golden eyes staring back at him. He was restraining himself from opening the window and jumping in to hold her, as he had longed to do over the past year or so.

He had kept his promise. Food was delivered, he called, watched over, even sent little - ok not little - gifts when ever he got the chance. Though he never showed himself for fear of putting Kagome and the kids in danger. He sighed to himself.

Damn it. Won't this ever end? I want to be with her… I need to be with her, yet I can't. I want to knock on the window, say hello, maybe hug her for the next ten years or so, but then it would mean Kagura would go after her too. Then again… I haven't seen high or hair of Kagura for the past two months… does it mean I'm finally in the clear? Or does it mean that Kagura is planning something? God damn it! Damn it all!

Inuyasha closed his eyes for a moment. Letting a fake feeling of calm wash through him. He took a step back before running into an alley not too far away. His back agaisned the wall as he slid down, his head in his hands.

"Damn it… why? Why did Naraku have to come into this… why can't it be as it was. Just me in the shadows… on love." He looked up to the sky. "Why?"

"Because that would be to easy. I found that out the hard way."

No! Not now damn it!

"Kagura can't you fight me another time? Or at least finish me off quick. I don't care anymore."

There was a paused and Inuyasha looked down to see her just standing there. She had a well-too-knowing-smirk on her face. Something was up.

"What? Want to torture me first?" Inuyasha spat, looking away.

"No. In fact I have no reason to come after you. You freed me from that bastard."

"Then why did you ever attack me?"

"Because, I thought you were a threat."

Inuyasha sighed. "What do you want?"

"To be an ally, there is a new power in this city. A pack of wolf demons. They take who they want. Leave no survivors. It's almost like a gang really. If you piss them off, they come after you. It's that simple."

"So why do you want me? I'm just a lowly hanyou."

"That may be. But I've seen your skills. And I know you wish to protect that women and the two children."

Inuyasha's eyes widened. Does she know where they are?

"Don't panic. I have no desire to harm them."

Inuyasha's panic didn't leave him.

"Look. Until I have a reason too I won't attack some wolf tribe. I don't want to risk it."

Inuyasha got up and slowly began walking toward his old house.

If this is over and she won't come after us… maybe I can go back now.

"Inuyasha wait. Be weary of your surroundings. They are very dangerous. If you want to take me up on my offer, you can find me in the old Naraku mansion at midnight."

Inuyasha paid little attention as he sprinted back.

Inuyasha slowly slid the window open. Stepping into the room. He took a deep breath through his nose, letting Kagome's scent drip in like a long awaited feast after starving for forty years.

He slowly slipped off his shoes, then his shirt, down to the dark blue boxers. He pulled back the covers a little before dropping in and putting his arms around Kagome who tensed a little at the touch.

"Inuyasha… is it really you?" A low purr was her answer. She turned to meet his eyes before kissing him for the first time in a little over a year. As she finally settled back she whispered into his ear.

"I've missed you. Your calls were great… but it's nothing like this." She nuzzled into his chest. Letting a tear roll down her cheek.

"I love you Inuyasha."

"I love you too."

Inuyasha gripped Kagome a little tighter.

God I've missed this.

Yet, it was a little sour at best as a pair of blue eyes looked menacingly from the roof of a small shack across the way.

"That mutt won't have that women. She will be mine." He whispered before letting out a threatening howl that traveled for miles around.

Inuyasha shivered a little hearing the bone chilling howl. Maybe this was a bad idea… what if they come after us…

A/N: I know I'm a little slow at this but - I just noticed that some of the names in Inuyasha can be spelled different. Like Koga and Kouga. Or Inuyasha and Inu Yasha. It's all I can think of off hand but you get the point.
