A/n: I'm going to get right to it. Happy New Year!

Zetsuii: Thank you ^^

Guardian Angel of ALL Anime: I am happy the guardian Angel off all anime came to visit me XD. And when I saw that long list, I wanted to cry when I didn't see any commas. But when you gave them to me, I was so happy. What a wonderful present! So many stories! Arigato!

TriNeyce: Sessh... 'mystical guru'?... That brought a beautiful tear to my eye. Too good, too good. I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to truly explaining his role in the actual story itself, but I thought little comments thrown in made it clear. Err, apparently not. He is exactly what you dubbed of him: a teacher. Remember, Izayoi and Inu no Taisho taught him the ways and in his blood runs ancient magics. *smirks all conspiratorally like...ish!* Kuku, who is to say he isn't prone to how we say... visions?

The first part of the chapter is brought to you by Puscifer the Undertaker! Cool song.

Warning!!: Uncomfortable lime in the beginning.

Chapter XXXVIII: Apocolypse

"Kagomeee..." he rolled the word over his tongue, molesting her through her namesake. Roving eyes did nothing to help the dirty feeling she got from it.

Gooseflesh poured over her at the sight of him, and she trembled.

"Naraku," she sniffed.

She stood off the swing which issued a soft clink as she lifted her chin to him, defiant.

She hoped, though, he didn't notice the slight way her knees shook...

Regardless, the human body 'Onigumo' began to slowly circle her as if she were prey, drinking the sight of her in deeply as if she were a lush wine...

"This newfound attitude of yours excites me, Kagome," he ran his tongue nastily over his thin lips as if he were a starved man, catching Kagome's attention. "You've got some life in you yet, and here I thought I had gone and destroyed it. Seems I still have a chance at some fun yet."

She shuddered at the inneundo, overcome by a rush of memories...

...the feel of him against her, the filthy tentacles making their way over naked skin, making her scream his name or untold punishments were dealt...

She stamped the thoughts down viciously, welcoming the numbness that swelled inside her soul as a result, grasping at that familiar nothingness to make her face impassive.

"You'll never truly destroy me. I'll never let you have that pleasure," she seethed quietly, barely heard over the sound of the heavy drops that hit the pavement, each in its own right like a subdued thunder.

"Tsk, tsk. I disagree, my beautiful Kagome. I will break you, I will have you. And if that takes a bit more time, then so be it. I have an eternity..." he grinned at her in a way most would consider true evil, if they believed such a thing could exist.

And if one didn't believe in true evil, it could be assumed Naraku was their messiah.

"No one is truly immortal," Kagome said with a conviction she herself wasn't sure she had.

If one could be truly immortal, Naraku would have found the way.

Naraku seemed to consider her for a minute, and she thought it was probably more for show than anything.

"I could debate that, but I'd be more pleased if I could just prove it to you," he whispered darkly, his voice laced with promise.

Kagome was sure it wasn't a promise she wanted him to keep.

And as he began to make his way to her, she stood her ground... She refused to reveal to him the overwhelming terror he could to this day instill in her easily.

"I grow tired of your useless games!" she shouted at him, her voice stronger and far more steady than she could recognize of herself.

Is this me?

"Where is the Shikon no Tama?!" she demanded it of him, stamping her foot for emphasis...

He seemed to catch her blufff, and she was unprepared when he suddenly appeared next to her, his face pressed into her damp hair as he inhaled loudly.

"...I doubt you're in any position to be ordering anything from me, my little Kagome..." he muttered huskily, bringing a deathly white hand down to stroke her arm in an overly familiar fashion.

She shoved the offending appendage away from her being.

"Don't fucking touch me, demon," she spat venomously, and it was quickly apparent he didn't appreciate the comment.

He punched her across the face faster than she had time to react, and she went sprawling to the ground.

"You're powerless, Kagome. Haven't you figured that out yet?" he glared coldly down upon her, towering over her prone form as if to prove his point.

He was always in control of her.

He could make her do anything he wished...

He barely had to lift a finger.

...and he knew it...

She struggled to sit up, rubbing her cheek from where it had impacted. Touching tentaively, her fingers drew back and revealed blood...

Fucking bastard...

The coppery taste filled her mouth, rushing up into her nose and pouring out of it. Undoubtedly, he could have easily broken it. As tender as it was to the touch, she was quite sure he had.

Struggling to stand, and stumbling a bit as she did, Naraku watched her with a critical eye... Assessing what she was to do next.

Her eyes hardened to him, and she looked him straight in the face.

Something never before had she done...

And she took a swing at him in a fury.

To her surprise, the hit landed, and he recoiled in shock from the blow.

Kagome was almost in the same amount of shock, and thought to take advantage of his unawareness, but he recovered quicker than she anticipated.

And when he turned his crimson orbs to her once again, they raged with an unholy fire.

"Bitch."

The word held no emotion... and once again Kagome quickly found herself on her back, the wind knocked out of her as she was crushed under the weight of...

...tentacles...?

She couldn't understand.

...he was in his human form.

...she wasn't dreaming...

Too dazed to try and figure it out, stars danced around her head as he pushed her helpless form further into the mud.

She choked and gasped for air, sputtering as rain water attempted to force its way down her esophagus, clawing at the nasty tentacles that held her down.

Tendrils of hair formed a thin veil around her head as Naraku leaned over her, pressing his face close to hers as he smothered her with his gaze. His jaw was rigid, and he hissed at her in deadly tones, "Shall I remind you, here and now, who you belong to? Who has taken you? Who owns you?"

She attempted to turn her face away from his as he licked up her neck, nibbling on her earlobe as he whispered to her. She gagged from the contact, pure abhorrence shooting bile into her mouth, and she spat at him.

Her actions went to an unconcerned audience.

"You can't escape, Kagome... you can't fight... I've owned your soul the minute I laid eyes on Kikyou, and now I own you..."

He placed open mouth kisses on her neck, causing the flesh to crawl under his attentions. She whimpered, struggling in his grasp, the beginnings of hysteria beginning to seize her...

No... not again... I won't let him take me again...

"I think I will take you right here, and make you scream for me all over again, Kagome..." he muttered erotically in her ear, and she could feel his lust for her pressing against her thigh.

...no, Kami-sama, please no...!

The detested tentacles began to roam over her body, hiking her skirt up and pressing underneath her shirt...

...only Inuyasha can do that... only he can touch me like that...

She choked a little as something warm brushed against her inner thigh, far too close to her sanctuary...

...and she snapped.

"NO! GET OFF OF ME!" she shrieked into the dead of night.

She wouldn't go through it again.

Her loathing and rage pushed through her body, breaking free... the force of her emotion emerged and flung Naraku from her, sizzling and searing his body as the distinct smell of something burning came to her when he landed with a sick thud twenty or so feet away.

She scrambled up to her feet, pale as a ghost and trembling with the realization of just what had nearly occurred hit her.

...Inuyasha... why did I ever leave...?

...I never wanted to leave...

...please be safe...

"Give me the Shikon no Tama or I'll kill you!" she screeched, her hands twisting her skirt in full-blown hysterics.

It was only if she could get it from him... then...

...then I could return to Inuyasha...

A deep chuckle answered her command.

She gasped.

"...is that all you have, Ka-go-me...?"

A half-dismembered body lifted itself to smirk at her, pieces of flesh coming back together to form a whole body once again.

Kagome's eyes doubled in size, and her voicebox constricted at the sight...

...impossible...

"...if that's it, it seems you weren't in the receiving end of miko abilities this lifetime."

Amusement played on his features, a bloodthirsty excitement reigning quickly as he laughed at her.

"Kukuku... I think you're in trouble this time, Kagome..."

She barely had any time to scream before tentacles came rushing toward her...

"...Sango, we've been out for over a half hour... Can we call it a night? Please?" Miroku had resorted to pleading. He was beyond cold...

He had become numb.

But Sango shook her head negative... still persistent.

"...we're almost there..." her teeth chattered loudly, and she leaned into his body as his arm pulled around her, both of them seeking non existant warmth.

"...but you've been saying that..." Miroku attempted, but her jaw set and he saw he had no room to argue.

It was at his insistence he was still there... she had offered him to go home more than once the last fifteen minutes... but he refused.

He couldn't leave her alone like that.

"But how about we..." he began, but he watched as her eyes visibly dilated suddenly, and her head whipped around in a random direction.

"Wha...?" he questioned, looking off into the darkness at what appeared to be nothing.

But her attention was fixed.

And without a warning, she took off without him, tearing away from his hold.

"Sango!" he shouted, surprise flooding him as he began to run after her.

What's gotten into her?!

He couldn't understand her behavior...

She was banging on his window at about 12:30 at night, desperate and frantic as she began to pull on him, demanding they leave.

She had been soaked, still in her pajamas.

He offered they change at least into dry clothes, and get an umbrella.

She shook her head and began to leave, heading off and he was forced to follow, closing his window behind him.

...he wasn't one to sneak out, though he was old enough to not need to sneak out.

But he knew the questions would be too much, and Sango had already gone.

He cursed himself quickly for at least not grabbing an umbrella, and a different shirt.

Though it may not have been much better... but his thin tank did not provide much cover.

He had made the mistake of trying to stop her, which she answered by fighting his hold. It had taken her a good twenty minutes before she stopped being easily triggered, and he could tell she was as confused as he was.

What had she been looking for?

She didn't seem to know.

He had stopped asking questions, and that helped soothe her frayed nerves.

The weather was unforgiving.

And now, here he raced after his heart, and he began to think it all lunacy...

That was, until a wave of sudden need hit him.

It was pure... he didn't know how to describe it...

...it was as if something he couldn't see was tugging at him, forcing him to go to it. He had to.

And he was afraid to know what would happen if he didn't answer the call.

He understood Sango then.

...she had just felt it much sooner...

And he didn't need to search for her through the haze of the rain.

...all he had to do was follow that invisible threat that pulled viciously at him.

...And he felt like a fool for ever doubting Sango.

"STOP THE CAR!" Inuyasha came out of his trance abruptly, banging on the dashboard in desperation and hollaring at his brother.

It was a trigger response, the car skidding along the sleek pavement as Inuyasha hardly waited for it to stop before he had thrown the door open and rolled out of it into the middle of the street.

"Inuyasha!" Sesshomaru called after him, but it went on deaf ears.

Nothing less to be expected...

"...fuck."

He raced the car to a corner, slamming the damn thing into park and locking the doors as Sesshomaru streaked out after his otouto.

"Inuyasha! Wait!"

His brother was already a speck in the park across the street, as lightning cracked in the sky to illuminate his silhouette in the background.

Thunder rolled, drowning out a hoarse cry from his brother and the words that accompanied it. Sesshomaru growled, willing his legs to pump faster as he pushed himself to catch up with his kid brother.

...this is insane...

And he knew, wholly unnecessary...

If only children fucking listened...

But, of course, they always knew better.

No logic and all heart.

Another flash of lightning, revealing Inuyasha had halted, a look of fierce determination on his face.

His body was rigid, as if he was ready to fight to the death...

What truly caught Sesshomaru's attention, though, was what laid before Inuyasha...

A writhing mass of flesh and two very familiar teenagers that stood there, all of them transfixed on this one monstrosity.

But what really made Sesshomaru go cold... was the words that his brother cried yet again, this time not drowned out by the boom of thunder.

"LET GO OF KAGOME!"
