"Have you lost your fucking mind?" the hanyou whispered as he led Kagome away from Sesshoumaru, ignoring the taiyoukai's snarl, which he assumed was due to the miko's comment on his sexual prowess. In fact, the elder inu brother was angry that Inuyasha swept her away just when he was getting what he wanted.

"Inuyasha, let me go!" Kagome ordered in a threatening tone.

"Like hell! Your mouth is going to cost you your head."

The miko rolled her eyes and ducked just in time as the hanyou was lifted off his feet. Inuyasha cursed and swung at the taiyoukai holding him by the back of his haori.

"Your involvement was neither needed nor warranted, little brother." Sesshoumaru was ready to eviscerate Inuyasha. He'd craved Kagome's attention and flirtation for so long and he was finally getting it! How dare the half-breed try to take her away?

"Put me down, you bastard!" the hanyou snarled, only to find himself hung from a high tree branch, his haori bunched around his shoulders, giving him a hooded and rather puppet-like appearance. "Get me out of this fucking tree!"

Kagome covered her mouth with her hand in an effort to hide her laughter. When she saw the way Sesshoumaru was looking at her while slowly stalking towards her, she swallowed hard. His eyes were so intense they were making her nervous. He stopped with just inches between them and leaned in close to her ear.

"Run, miko," he purred.

Kagome grinned. "What if I don't feel like running?" she asked in a taunting tone.

She jumped at the feeling of Sesshoumaru dragging his deadly claws up the back of her thigh from her knee to just under the bottom hem of her skirt.

"I said run," he ordered, his tone deep and silky.

Without a second thought, Kagome turned and bolted, running on shaking legs. She wasn't afraid, but she had no idea what she'd gotten herself into. His unpredictability had been one of the reasons she'd decided to stop flirting with the taiyoukai and now, as she ran through the dense forest, she wondered just what Sesshoumaru had in store for her this time.

Both miko and taiyoukai ignored the screaming Inuyasha who was still trying to shake himself loose from his tree branch. His other companions had no intention of helping him. He'd gotten himself into that situation, sticking his nose where it wasn't needed, and he could free himself, too. Facing his anger later would be worth it if Kagome was happy.
