Sesshoumaru slowly approached the miko, studying her posture and facial expression, searching for any hint of encouragement. He'd been waiting so long to hear her use that sexy, playful tone of voice with him. He still didn't fully understand what had made her stop, and so he was wary, worried that he might screw up and turn her against him once more. Her eyes stayed locked on him and she had just the hint of a smile on her lips. Gods, the urge to taste those lips of hers was nearly overwhelming.
Kagome watched the taiyoukai, noting how he seemed almost like a predator stalking its prey. She could also see the slight hint of hesitance, and it made her smile widen. She had him so off kilter that he was questioning himself, second guessing everything. She had never felt so powerful in all her life.
When he reached her, Sesshoumaru realized that he had no idea what to say. Thankfully, the miko took pity on him. She reached up and gently caressed his cheek, biting her bottom lip when he leaned into her touch, his eyelids drooping with pleasure.
"You're a confusing demon," Kagome said softly.
At that, the taiyoukai's eyes popped open once more and he looked at her in shock. "I am confusing?"
The miko merely laughed. "Let me let you in on a little secret. I like Kouga." She paused and Sesshoumaru snarled his displeasure, making her giggle once more. "You didn't let me finish. I like Kouga, but only as a friend. He's just a little too dense for me."
Sesshoumaru was so relieved by her confession that he didn't even realize that his tense shoulders sagged while he let out a sigh, a show of emotion that he would never have allowed in the past.
"If I remember correctly," she started, her smile widening into a grin as she prepared to poke the inu. "I've only had one other male pronounce himself my suitor."
The taiyoukai's eyes widened and the sweet sound of her laughter washed over him once again. Sucking up the confidence he knew he had, that had only recently decided to abandon him, Sesshoumaru smirked.
"Have you? Well, I have only had one female confess to desiring a happy ending from this Sesshoumaru. It was truly a tempting invitation."
"You're the one that turned it down," Kagome jabbed back.
"Only because of your exhaustion."
"Is that so? I thought it was because you've gone so long without being with a woman that you doubted your skills."
Everyone had been watching the curious exchange in silence, but Inuyasha couldn't take it anymore. Kagome had just questioned Sesshoumaru's sexual prowess! Did she want to die? Sure, it seemed playful enough, but that was just as upsetting and he couldn't handle it for another moment.
"Come on, Wench. We can't be standing around all day!" Before she could protest, Inuyasha wrapped an arm around Kagome's shoulders and led her away from the taiyoukai.
