InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Somewhere in Her Memory ❯ Don't Touch My Ears ( Chapter 10 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Hehehe. Sorry I stopped writing. Actually, I didn't really think that anyone was still really reading this story, so I sort of...stopped. Sorry. This story is just about halfway done, and to tell you the truth, I'm kind of glad. (I'm not quite as obsessed with Inuyasha as I had been last year, but my friend is and she'll kill me if I don't finish this.) Anyway...Enjoy!
P.S. Sesshomaru is still hot.

Disclaimer:
I do not own Inuyasha. Seriously, I don't.

RECAP
“Shh.” He whispered and pulled her so that she was lying against his chest. “Don’t cry. She might have not remembered him but that never stopped him from loving her. He knows that somewhere deep down, she loves him too. He’s happy, okay. Now, go to sleep.” He whispered in her ear.

‘This is a side of him that I’ve never seen before. I like it.’ “Inuyasha.” She breathed and let sleep over take her.

Chapter 10:

Kagome awoke from her dream suddenly and frowned as she tried to remember it. ‘I still can’t, but I guess that's nothing new.’ She sighed and went to sit up but was pulled back down. That’s when she noticed the arm around her waist. ‘What the?’ She turned around to see who it belonged to. The first thing she saw was silver hair. ‘Inuyasha? What's he doing in my-...crap. Why do I always end up sleeping with Inuyasha? ...Ah! Not like that!’ She shook her head. ‘Aww, but his ears are so cute...’ She thought and then did a double take. ‘Ears?’ A feeling of deja vu washed over her. ‘Are they real?’ She reached to touch the, but a hand quickly grabbed her wrist.

“Don’t even think about it.’ Inuyasha opened his eyes, expecting to see Rin or Shippo. What he got was- “K-Kagome?” ‘Please let my bandana be on.’ His free hand shot up to his head. No such luck. “Shit.”

“Inuyasha. What’s going on?” Kagome asked slowly.

“Kagome, I can explain.” He said letting go of her wrist.

“Y-You have dog ears. Are you a- Oh Kami. You’re a-” Her eyes widened and she covered her mouth with her hands.

“Yes Kagome. I’m a demon.” He said calmly.

“That’s why you wear a bandana. To hide your ears.” She tried to put the pieces together. “But what about last night? You weren’t wearing a bandana last night. What happened to your ears?”

He lowered his head. “I’m a hanyou.” He whispered to soft for her to hear.

“What?” She didn’t quite hear him.

His head snapped up. “I’m a hanyou okay?! A half breed. Last night was my human night.” He lowered his head again.

“Oh...hanyou...” She whispered and looked at him. “It’s you then, isn’t it?”

“What?” He asked without looking up.

“You’re the hanyou who fell in love. The hanyou who fell in love with Midoriko. That’s why you know the legend so well.”

‘Well, doesn’t she catch on rather quickly?’ “I-I guess you could say that.” He mumbled. ‘If only you knew, Kagome.’

“I’m sorry.” She whispered, moving closer to him.

“For what?” He looked at her strangely.

She looked down. “For judging you. When I first met you, I thought you were a total jerk. Now that I've gotten some time to get to know you, you’re a pretty cool friend.”

‘That was random.’ “Yeah. I know I’ve been an ass and all. I guess I’m sorry. You know, about calling you wench and everything.” He looked away blushing. ‘Why am I even apologizing?’

“Really? So do you still want to hang out after the deal is off?” She asked hopefully.

“I dunno. If you want to, I guess we could.” He shrugged.

“Okay.” She said and started to look around the room feeling a little sad. ‘A complete brush off. I guess all this time meant nothing to him at all. Figures. Why would he even want hang out with me anyway? He’s probably just putting up with me so I won’t “break up” with him right before his party.’ She sighed and made a move to get up.

After a few minutes of silence, Inuyasha felt a huge wave of sadness overcome her. ‘Stupid. You’ve made her upset again.’ “Kagome, Are you alright?”

“Yeah. I’m fine.” She replied, not looking him in the eye. “I guess I’m just hungry, is all. I didn’t eat much dinner last night.”

“Okay.” He slid off of the bed, pulling her off too. ‘She’s lying to me. I know it.’ He turned so his back was facing her. “Hop on. I’ll bring you to the kitchen.”

'Right...This is awkward...Oh well, here goes.' She climbed on his back and was surprised when he didn't stumble or show any signs of difficulty with carrying her. 'Fine then, mister tough guy. Let's see how long you hold up.' “Actually, Can you take me to my room? I’d like to change into something less…revealing. Sweatpants maybe?”

He rolled his eyes. ‘Yup. She’s still the same Kagome somewhere in there. Always making me cart her around like I’m some kind of horse. Keh. At least she’s not sad anymore.’ “Sure, why not?” He answered and ran all the way to Kagome’s room with her squealing the entire way. “Geez, woman. I have ears, ya know.” He said, rubbing his ears.

She blushed and climbed, or more like fell off of his back. “Sorry. I forgot about the ultra-sensitive hearing thing.”

“Keh, whatever. Just hurry up.” He said crossing his arms.

She went into the room and a few minutes later she emerged wearing black baggy jeans and still wearing the same tank top from the night before. She climbed on Inuyasha’s back and held on tight as he sped off to the kitchen, remembering not to squeal in his ears this time. Inuyasha helped Kagome off of his back and this time, her feet made it safely to the ground.

“Ah, Inuyasha. There you are.” Miroku said, coming up to him and Kagome. “I see you forgot something.” He said looking directly at Inuyasha’s head.

“It’s okay Miroku, she knows.” He replied.

“She knows?” He asked raising an eyebrow, his tone of voice asking, ‘She knows everything?’

“Yes, Miroku. She knows that I’m a hanyou and that I fell in love with her great great grandmother, Midoriko, who still doesn’t remember me.” He said in a tone that said, ‘That’s the story so stick to it.’

“Oh. Okay. Let me go tell Sango and the others so that you guys can go eat. You missed breakfast, you know. You guys must have been up pretty late. I wonder what you were doing...” He said suggestively. This earned him a bump on the head and a red hand print on his cheek.

“Hentai.” They both said as Inuyasha closed the door to the kitchen.

Kagome sat on a stool by the island counter. “So, How comes the kitchen is more up to date than the rest of the house?” She asked admiring the look of the entire room.

“The kitchen was just built recently. It’s pretty much mine because nobody comes in here except for me. And anyone I bring in with me. I had someone come in to work on it. I did the painting by myself though.” He shrugged. “I guess you could say this is my secret spot. Though everyone knows about it..."

“Did you design this room yourself?” She asked unbelievably.

He smiled proudly. “Yeah. I guess that’s why I like it room so much.” He took some time to take in his surroundings. The walls were a deep red. That was the first thing he made sure of. The walls above the counter were lined with cupboards. The counters had a large amount of appliances on them. The only ones that seemed to be used at all were the blender, the coffee maker, the microwave, and the toaster. The whole room had a somewhat modern style to it. The island was made out of glass with the edges black. The same went for all four of the windows.

Two small one-paned windows were above the main sink. The other one, the largest one was just smaller than the size of the wall it was on. Outside of the window, you could see a balcony which overlooked a very large pool. In front of the window, there was a black leather couch. Next to the door, which was also black was the fourth and smallest window. In front of it, there was a pot with a small tree growing out of it. It was the same type of tree as the Goshinboku.

A small cough brought him out of his thoughts.

“Oh yeah. Um, so what would you like you eat?” He asked turning to Kagome.

“What do you have?” She asked.

“I have…” He started opening the cupboards. “Ramen.” It was filled to the brim with chicken flavored ramen. He opened the one next one. “Ramen.” This time it was filled with beef, turkey, and creamy and roast chicken flavored ramen. He opened the next one. “Ah, here we go. Pop tarts, pocky, pancake mix, pretzels, and…coffee? I thought it was Pringles.”

Kagome looked. “Nope. It’s coffee. I’ll have the pop tarts.”

Inuyasha pulled two pop tarts out of the box and put them into the toaster.

“Aren’t you eating anything?” She asked him.

He went the first cupboard and pulled out three cups of chicken flavored ramen. Next, he filled all three cups with ramen and put them all in the microwave and pressed a button.

Kagome rolled her eyes. “You know that stuff has no nutritional value whatsoever, right?”

Inuyasha just feh’d and caught the pop tarts on a plate then placed the plate in front of Kagome. "Eat." Kagome rolled her eyes again and started munching on a pop tart. A few minutes later, Inuyasha was happily slurping up one of the three cups of ramen.

After eating her pop tarts, Kagome sat backwards on the couch so that she could look outside of the window without having to go onto the balcony. The pool was shaped in a giant T. ‘It’s so big. Maybe we could go swimming.’ She wondered.

“You like the pool?” Inuyasha asked sitting down next to her.

“Yeah. It’s really big.” She said.

“Yeah. I like it too. We just got it expanded. It goes from three-” He pointed to the left side at the top of the T. “to twelve feet.” He pointed over to the right side where there were two diving boards. He gestured to the bottom part of the pool. “That part over there goes from about four to six feet. It’s new so I haven’t gotten to try it yet. They just finished building it about the day before yesterday. Maybe we can go swimming later.”

She frowned. “I didn’t bring a suit.”

“Who says we need them?” He asked, smirking.

It took her a couple of seconds to register what he just said. She blushed. “Hentai!” She screamed, hitting him on the head.

“What was that for?!” He asked rubbing the bump that was starting to form.

“Geez. You’re just as perverted as Miroku.” She said, laughing.

“I resent that.” He said in his best Miroku voice.

They both laughed and after a while, and awkward silence came over them as they both looked out the window.

“My party’s this weekend.” Inuyasha said, trying to make conversation.

“That’s in a few days.” She replied somewhat sadly. ‘Then things will probably just go back to the way they were before. Why am I sad anyway? I should be happy to get rid of Inuyasha. Shouldn’t I? But not that we've become friends...’ She sighed. “So, what college are you going to?” She asked trying to change the subject.

“I’m just gonna go to the community college and take up my brother’s modeling contract. He’s going to take up Taisho Inc. full time. So that means he has no time for photo shoots. What about you?”

"I'm going to the community college too. Something is just keeping me here. I don't really know what it is, but I just get the feeling that shouldn't leave for a while. It's like I'll be needed here soon. It's like there's something waiting to happen, but I just don't know what it is yet. You know?" She looked at Inuyasha, who appeared to be in deep thought. 'Wow. There's a surprise.'

'Something's keeping her here. Could she be getting her memory soon? She said she's got the feeling that something's waiting to happen and she'll be needed here. Could it be a threat? Could it be- No. We destroyed him a long time ago. But, then what is it?' He stiffened as he felt someone rubbing his ears. A low rumble resounded from his throat and started getting louder. "Kagome." He said in a strained voice. He needed to stop her before it was too late.

Hehehe. Hey. I just realized. It's practically impossible to end a chapter without a cliffhanger. Lol. Well anyway. Don't forget to review. Well anyway, that's all folks. Don't forget to review.
