It was Kyoko's eighteenth birthday. It was a rather a nice, quiet birthday. It was she, her brother, and her father. No demons and not a spirit nagging, yet.

 

Her brother gave her a black, leather jacket. Her father gave her a silver bracelet. They went to her favorite restaurant to eat dinner. She ordered baby-back ribs and a baked potato. She gets it every time she goes there.

 

After they ate dinner, three waiters came by with her birthday cake and sang her the usual, traditional song. `Wow, this is embarrassing,' she thought, `At least it's the thought that counts.'

 

They ate the cake and left. At home, they sat around the television and watched a movie they picked up at Video Universe. `This is perfect,' she thought as she snuggled at her father.

 

The doorbell rang and Kyoko answered it. Yumi and Souta were there with a package. “Happy birthday!” they shouted together. Kyoko smiled. She invited them and introduced them to her family. Then, she opened it. It was a black scarf with black gloves. “I knitted them,” said Yumi. Kyoko smiled and thanked them.

 

Yumi and Souta had to leave since they had to see Jii-Chan. They bid farewell and the Miyoshi family went back to the movie they were watching. The doorbell rang again and she grumbled when she was answering it.

 

When she opened the door, she saw Miroku, Sango, and Shippo standing there with smiles on their faces. “Happy birthday!” they chimed. “Come in!” Kyoko gestured them into her home.

 

Miroku gave her a present and said that it was from the three of them. Kyoko ripped the present and saw that it was an opal ring. “Oh, it's gorgeous,” said Kyoko. The three grinned. They were happy that she liked it.

 

“Would you like to stay awhile or do you have to go somewhere?” asked Kyoko. “Actually, we have to tell you something. Can we go somewhere privately?” asked Miroku. “Sure, follow me,” replied Kyoko.

 

Kyoko lead them to her room and when they all entered, she closed the door. When she turned around Sango was sitting on the bed, Miroku was sitting next to her, and Shippo was standing by a window.

 

“Well, what did you have to talk to me about?” asked the reincarnation.

 

“We-well I-think that Kagome has been tainted. The first time I realized it was when we first met you. There was an odd aura around you. It felt like something bad had happen, I can' explain it. It's just that something is wrong and it might harm you,” explained the monk.

 

Kyoko couldn't speak. She knew that something was wrong with Kagome, but they had to figure out how and why.

 

“I knew something was wrong. Can we figure out how and why? IS there a way?” asked Kyoko.

 

Miroku cleared his throat, “There is a way. I actually brought something with me before we arrived.” Miroku took out a small bottle from his jacket pocket that had white liquid substance. “It will show us what's going on. It might be dangerous, I don't know. We can do it if you want to. It's up to you. We won't pressure you.”

 

Kyoko knew her answer would be. She didn't care if it was dangerous or no. She had to know what's going on. `So much for a happy birthday,' she thought and she answered, “Yes, I'll do it. All I have to do is drink that?”

 

Miroku nodded and explained more what will happen, “After you drink this, you will be unconscious, but you will know what's going on. We will know what's going because your mind will show us what happened to Kagome. Understand?”

 

Kyoko nodded. Miroku handed her the bottle. Before she drank it, Sango, Shippo, and Miroku hugged her. Who knows what will happen to her when she'll drink the liquid? She could die, or she could live. Someone could even take over her body once the process is finished.

 

Kyoko took off the cap and drank the substance. Then, she fell onto unconsciousness and fell onto the floor. Shippo picked her up and put her on her bed. Then, they saw a picture before them. It shocked them all.
