Prologue

Libby was an innocent child when it all happened. She never knew the actual cold harsh reality of out side her home in Tokyo. All she knew was the warm safe feeling she had inside shut in from the horrors of the world. Until…

Libby was building something with Legos (A/N: yeah I play with Legos! Ya got a problem wit dat?). She was building a grand castle. The greatest ever known for the most powerful lord in Japan. (Whoa does she have an imagination) Her mother watched her working as she worked with great concentration until the doorbell rang. The middle-aged woman walked to the door, and opened it quietly. On the other side stood two burly men and a skinny woman beginning to age. None of them had a kind look to match the one of Libby's mother. "May I help you?" she asked kindly. "I'm sorry madam, but due to certain economic difficulties you are ordered to come with me." "What about my house?" "These men are here to take your things." "And my son and daughter?" "They will be going to foster homes until this mess is cleared. They are allowed to bring a few things with them, but only enough to fill a backpack."

Libby had heard every word of this conversation. Usually she did not cry. In fact she'd only cried once in her life, until then. Tears filled her golden brown eyes and fell but she made no sound. She left for her room to get her things. And also to see her life one last time. As she left her mother went to tell her older brother of this horrible news. She took a small black travel pack and filled it with her favorite dress (A/N: it's her only dress!), a pair of jeans, her favorite T-shirt, Her school uniform, and an old stuffed bunny she had since god only knows when. She made sure her tears didn't stain anything important. She was about to leave the room one last time when she just remembered her book. She couldn't leave without it. There were still spells and incantations she had yet to learn. Yes, Libby was no ordinary 13-year-old girl. She was a sorceress, and a pretty damn good one too. And just a little secret between you and me, she was a miko too. But she didn't know that.

She stepped outside, tears still flowing from those golden-brown orbs. She gave her mother one last hug, and stepped into the black Camery with her brother. She had seen this happen on T.V. shows never thinking it could happen to her.

She looked out the car window while passing the streets of Tokyo. She had moved here only a year and a half ago, and now she was leaving home again just as soon as she got used to it. Only this time she would be alone. The woman who had spoken with her mother was driving them to the foster homes. She was trying to explain the situation to her and Jonathan by sugar coating it. Libby was angry and amused at the same time. Angry that this woman would think she was some dumb child that wouldn't understand this at all, and amused that this seemed how all adults acted around minors, despite age. "Elizabeth, you will be staying with a family known as the Higarashi's." the woman said. `Elizabeth' oh how she hated that name. It was so formal and girlie, insulting to a tomboy like her. Libby was the first name given to her; Libby is who she was known as. Elizabeth is just what the birth certificate said. The vehicle then stopped in front of a house. The woman told her to come with her. There were many steps to the house so it gave Libby more time to ponder about her new home. `Higarashi' why did that sound familiar? Ah yes, there was a girl in her school plagued by constant illness by that name. `I sure hope she's not contagious.'
