Chapter Five

Kagome heard the people around her but didn't really listen. Inuyasha stood beside her, his single duffle bag resting at their feet. Everyone was saying their goodbyes. Inuyasha had a class trip to go to and was going to be leaving momentarily. Kagome sighed as yet another youkai came over and bowed slightly to her before slapping Inuyasha on the back. She hadn't figured out what they were doing but since it wasn't bothering Inuyasha she guessed it wasn't anything bad.

She remembered waking up this morning. At first nothing was different. Inuyasha was wrapped around her like usual, rumbling in his sleep. She had turned to smack her alarm clock when she realised that that wasn't what had woken her. She had frowned slightly before looking around her room to find any sign of what had pulled her from her slumber. That's when she had found their clothes. Everything about the night before had come crashing down. The fact that they were still both naked and wrapped around each other finally registered. She blushed now thinking about it.

Inuyasha turned from his inspection of the flight plans to look at her. He studied the rising blush and smiled to himself. He felt bad that he was leaving so soon after their mating. Kagome was fine with it but he still felt bad.He pulled her against his side as he leaned down to kiss her temple. She noticably relaxed. A neo youkai bowed to her then gave him a sly smile. Kagome hadn't asked about it so he wasn't going to tell her. Apparently every youkai in the building had heard her screams and were congratulating him.

The voice over the intercome announced their flight."Flight 87 is preparing to leave. Will all passengers please go to the directed terminal." He grimaced and flattened his ears against his head. Damn intercoms. He studied Kagome for a moment longer, knowing that it would have to last him for a month. He leaned down and kissed her before whispering 'Aishiteru' in her ear. She smiled and whispered it right back. He hugged her tightly then grabbed his bag and headed for the terminal. No one was allowed past the gate unless they had a ticket so she waved from her spot at the door until he dissapeared from view.

Sighing to herself she turned back to the entrance and left the hustle and bustle of the airport. She wasn't feeling very good. Maybe she would take a nap when she got to the dorm.

Kagome ran to the bathroom again. Her stomach felt like it was on a roller coaster. She figured it must have been those sushi things Miroku had convinced her to eat earlier. They had been horrible. Evil monk. She was sooo getting revenge.

After emptying what was left of her stomach contents she dredged slowly towards her hall. The main room in the center of the dorm was filled with people. Some of them were crying their eyes out while others looked to be in complete shock. Curious she headed that way. She soon found Sango and Miroku. Both were sitting in stunned silence as they watched the big screen tv. Kagome looked to the graphic picture on the screen. Peices of debris rested on the ground or in trees around the reporter. More of the wreckage floated in the water at the edge of the scene.

Kagome tuned in to what the woman was saying. The usually perky young woman looked very upset as she spoke into the microphone. "We have found that due to some technical difficulties one of the engines on Flight 87 erupted in flames. The plane went down quickly. All the passengers are reported to have died from the blast. Most disturbing is that a class from a college in Tokyo was going to Rome for part of their studies..."

The young woman stood very still, the people around her not seeing the blank look that overtook her features. Silent tears slid down her cheeks. One reality ran through her head. The last true thought she had before darkness overtook her. 'Inuyasha? Is gone...'
