Leveling the Playing Field
Inuyasha tugged futily on the cursed rosary, still fuming over Kagome's latest act of manipulation. That was how being repeatedly slammed into the earth for no good reason felt to him. Today was the day he leveled the playing field; the key to his redemption lay in his palm.
He had called in a favor Kaede owed him for collecting some hard-to-reach herbs for her. She had been reluctant to abide by his demand, but eventually gave in. Once the new necklace was in place around Kagome's neck, she would automatically return to his side whenever he yelled the command! She literally wouldn't be able to go anywhere without his permission! Kaede did caution him only to use the command in clear terrain, lest they wind up scraping the young miko off a tree or boulder.
The plan went off without a hitch; Kagome was collared before she knew it. And when she demanded to be released and allowed to go home for her tests, he simply grinned and spoke the command with a haughty, self-assured air.
“Heel, bitch!”
He grunted as a heavy weight slammed into his chest. When he reopened his eyes he was shocked to find Kagome's equally stunned face mere inches from his own. Their chests were pressed so tightly together that he could feel her nipples pressing against him through the fabric of their clothes. He could feel her hot breath against his lips, her heartbeat accelerating almost as rapidly as his own as her scent became noticeably more muddled, flustered. All the blood drained from his face, seemingly redirected to another part of his body that inconveniently decided to make its presence known. Judging by Kagome's surprised gasp, it succeeded. It was with a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach that Inuyasha realized something had gone horribly wrong.
“T-this isn't how you said it would work, old hag!”
“My apologies, Inuyasha,” Kaede replied, hiding her smirk. “I shall begin working on a remedy.” Instead, she went back inside her hut and settled down for a mid-afternoon nap. The spell would wear off by tomorrow afternoon anyway. Maybe the `face time' would do the pair some good, enable them to stop arguing for a change and come to terms with their oh-so-obvious feelings for one another.
“Osuwari!”
*thud* *thud*
Kaede sighed. Either that or they'll end up killing each other…
