'Sesshomaru I just want you to come home, please. I miss you so much and all I do here is study and train. I'm tired... You have been gone for so long at war, sometimes it scares me. How do I know you will make it home to me? How do I know you even want to mate me any more. I haven't heard from you since the battle of the Gorou (five) and I cannot even remember the way you feel against my skin when we lie in the meadows in the evening under the midnight moon. Even though you reassure me that you can take care of yourself and that you will not be killed by the insubordinate filth that threatens our lands I cannot stay here any longer...I have been waiting for too long love. I need to see you and by the time you read this letter I will have already made it out of our lands. No one knows of my plans so do not take any of your anger out on the servants. I love you and I will find you if it is the last thing I do I am sorry that I have disobeyed yours orders and I will except if you decide to be angry with me or throw me out. I just have to see your face before I go mad here with all these political meetings and events. The council wants me to mate the Lord of the East if you do not return. They have already excepted the worst due to the lack of communication between you and the other Lords...Sesshomaru if you still love me I want you to know that I want to mate only you, I want to give only to you my virginity, and bear your pups and heir. And know that I love you with everything in my soul. Forgive me....'
After I finished my letter I dipped the wax press into the hot wax and stamped it onto the silken white parchment. I peered at the seal to make sure it did not look rushed or if it even had my seal upon it. I decided it looked well enough. I stood and walked through my chambers into the hallway with the portraits of all the Western Lords and their mates....The Ladies of the West. They were all so beautiful and I was supposed to fill their shoes even though I was a human miko. I was chosen as Lord Sesshomaru's mate when he found me and my adopted daughter Rin in the woods after I battled for our lives. Rin and I were running from the shadow soldiers when he found us beaten and bloody. He later told me that it was that night he fell in love with me, under all the bruises and cuts he seen me and that's when he decided to take a mate. How he fell for me at that moment I will probably never know but he only spoke of his love for me in a letter, only one letter. Before he left for war he told me this...
>FLASHBACK<
“Kagome I must lead my troops into battle this night.” He gazed at me though my head was pointed in the direction of the lavender meadows to the north.
“I will not be long. You must stay here and attend to the castle.” I just kept my eyes on the way the grass swayed in the breeze.
“Do not pretend you do not hear me speaking to you Kagome. I will be back soon.” He held his hand out to mine and I took it willingly. Then I looked at him and I could see the deep sunset in his eyes as I spoke,
“I understand that you must go but our mating ceremony was supposed to take place on the night of the full moon. Only two nights away from this one. Now we must wait a whole other moon cycle.” I did not want him to leave me behind. I was only his mate to be for over a year now and I still needed proper training to become the Lady of the Western Lands I did not know how to take care of the paper work or other matters of the castle yet and he was going to leave me here alone.
“Look at me Kagome” I brought my saddened eyes to rest on his masculine form.
“You will need to stay and take care of the castle. You will continue your training and when I return we will not wait for the moon. I will mate you and you'll become the proper Lady of the West.”
After he had finished his sentence a thought pooped into my head.
“I could go with you. I can fight Sesshomaru you know I can.” He stared hard into my eyes I could tell that thought angered him but I did not care.
“No you will not go to war with me I am Lord and I will defend the lands like I have always. I cannot take the risk of you in battle. It is too much to ask me. Now all I want to hear from you at this moment is how you will be attending to the castle and to Rin.”
“I am going to obey your demands my lord but only because I do not want to leave Rin here alone. I cannot say that I will not worry myself mad over your absence.”
He brought his face closer to mine as he grabbed me around my middle and pulled me to him. When he was like this, intimately, with me I always melted into him. He knew it of coarse.
“Do not worry my Kagome this war will be over quickly. I am powerful. I believe you forget how powerful I am at times.” I shook my head.
“No I do not forget I just do not know what kind of tricks the shadows can conceive and I do not want you away from me.” When he spoke his warm breathe brushed across my face and I could smell his sweet honey and pine aroma,
“This Sesshomaru is determined to make it back to you soon, I promise. I aim to write you every day that I am away so you know how things are. You must not show the letters to any one but your own eyes. There may be information indicating our plans of attack or defense even our location.”
“I agree my lord I will not show any one when I receive your letters.” His eye color changed then it was no longer the reflection of the sunset but of golden honey, that is when he put his mouth atop my own and kissed my worries away. He gently bit my bottom lip so I would allow him access. I did open my mouth and he started to flick at my tongue for it to move against his. As soon as our muscles met I felt a coiling in my lower belly and I just wanted him to make the burn cease because it was wrecking my nerves. Every time he touched my skin I would fall into an even more erotic stage. I wanted him, I wanted all of him. As I slid my hands up towards the top of his hakama he grabbed them.
“We must stop otherwise I will lose control. I must go now. I promise I intend on coming back for you shortly. I cannot stay away from you for too long.” As he placed a lingering kiss to my lips he placed something around my neck. The next minute I looked up and he was already gone into the trees and brush.
END FLASHBACK
I have not seen him since that night. That was two years ago tonight. Why he was not writing me I did not know all I knew was his location and my will to make it there. Rin would be thoroughly taken care of I have already made it clear to Jaken that if I were to leave her in his care and he were to let something happen to her that he would be dinner for Kogas wolf pack. I walked out of the castle doors onto the pathway that would lead me to the stables. When I reached the area that housed my horse I whispered into the open door and there he stood as black as the darkest of nights along with his hair to match. He has starry white eyes that looks like a storm about to brew even the sounds he makes is like thunder. His name is Lightning. He has been my horse since the day Sesshomaru brought me to his stables. When I was able to walk again after being beaten so badly I would always want to ride. The day he brought me out here was the day lightning was found on the lands. The guards took him to the riding arena to test out his skills because he was no ordinary horse. The problem with that was Lightning himself. He would not allow any one to mount him let alone ride. Except for me. When I seen him pinned up my heart went out to him. Of coarse the all seeing Lord of the West seen the way I was ogling at him and decided I should try and coax the stallion to at least calm himself. He told me that if any of his subjects, guards, or servants could not train him I could. According to him I have a gentle and loving heart that no one could resist. And it was true apparently, I was about to be mated to the most cold and impassive lord there was and if I could melt his heart of ice I should be able to calm a nervous, angry stallion. When I walked into the arena it was like he knew I would not harm him because he walked over to me. There was no chasing, no words spoken. I simply looked him in his stormy white eyes and nuzzled his head with my own. It may come off as strange but all I wanted him to know was that I was not there to hurt him or even push him to do anything. When I pulled away from him he pushed his snout into my arm. So I pet him one time. He then lowered to the ground as if bowing to me and I realized he wanted me to ride. That was the first time I rode Lightning, we have been inseparable ever since. So as I was staring at his enormous form I said,
“Lightning I need you to take me to Sesshomaru. Can you get me to him?” I knew I did not have to ask this of my stallion, he never denies me, but he was dear to me so asking him was only a polite way to show him I care. He shook his head at me as in a yes while stomping a hoof into the ground. He was ready and waiting for my orders.
“Alright I will go get some things and I will need to let the servants know that I am to take a ride. I will have you ready by dawn.” With that taken care of I kissed his muzzle and was off to the castle to retrieve some necessities. As soon as I made it to my rooms there was a knock on the double wooden doors.
“My lady the council has sent a letter addressed to you” said Atsuko through the heavy doors.
“You may come in Atsuko” The dainty fairness that was Atsuko waltzed into my chambers and handed me the letter.
“My lady I have a bad feeling that something is about to occur. Do you have any word of our lord?” When she spoke to me it was like I was in a warp of time due to what I was reading in the letter. I did not answer her or even bother to look in her direction all I could do was stare at the piece of parchment in my hands. The council no longer awaited for the return of my lord. The council came to the conclusion that I would mate the Eastern lord. Considering that Sesshomaru has not sent word to either of us they must have thought him dead. I knew in my heart that he was not so why must they force this upon me? Have I not trained hard enough to become lady to these lands have I not accomplished the amount of work needed to stay? I don't care for the reasons behind their decision the fact is I am not going to be mated to a pig of a lord nor will I mate any one at all if my lord does not return to me. I glanced up at Atsuko then and muttered the words
“Send for Inuyasha right away I will be taking a trip to speak to the council at dawn and Inuyasha will need to attend to the castle while I am away, also send word to Akio for him to ready Lightning.”
“Yes my lady right away.” She bowed to me as she turned to leave and then I was off at the speed my horse would run to get all the things I needed for traveling. Of coarse I would not go to the council all they would say are things I would not want to consider. They would only change their minds if I found Sesshomaru alive and that is what I planned to do. I finished packing my traveling bag and headed towards the dinning area. I had a couple more hours to wait until dawn so I needed to eat first then I would search for Sesshomaru with my secret magic.
