They saw a tall, grubby demon.
“Who are you?” asked Miroku. He had his staff in hand. Thank goodness Kagome gave it to him early that morning.
“I am your worst nightmare,” it answered. Its claws became sharper and longer. It ran at them at full speed. Shippo ran out of sight while the other three posed to fight. The demon swiped at them, but realized that no one was there. It spun around and saw them smiling.
“I ask you again, who are you?” Miroku asked again.
It was the demon's turn to smile. It showed its yellow, gleaming fangs. “My name is Botan. I was created while you were resurrected. Now, it's time for you to go back into the ground!” Botan shouted.
“You're named after a flower!” Sango laughed.
Botan became angry at their laughter and ran at them full speed. Before Kagome, Sango, and Miroku could escape, they were punched. Kagome was hit against a tree, Sango was hit against a boulder, and Miroku landed hard on the ground. Botan made an evil laugh and left.
Kagome finally woke up. She was sore all over her body. `Uh, I hate that demon!' she hissed in her mind. She worked too hard to get her friends back and no one was going to take them away. She looked around. Shippo was by Sango's side and Miroku was looking towards the east.
She walked up to Miroku and said, “Ah, do you know anything about those kind of demons?”
Miroku looked at her and replied, “No, I do not. I'm sorry. I never heard those kinds of demons. Sango doesn't know either. I guess they only come when someone brings back the dead.”
Kagome looked down at her feet. “It's my fault. Maybe I shouldn't have brought them back, and then none of this would've happened. At least they are happy to back,” Kagome thought at loud. “Did I just say that out loud?” she asked.
Miroku looked at her and replied with a yes. He looked at her and said, “Don't be sorry Kagome. None of us knew about this situation.”
Kagome felt a little better.
“We have each other. This new enemy doesn't have a chance against us!” Sango said.
“Yeah, we are going to kick its ass!” shouted Shippo.
“Shippo! Don't say that kind of language until you're older,” Sango scolded.
“We should warn Kaede. Did she say when she'd be back?” Sango asked. Everyone shook his or her heads. Sango sighed. What were they going to do now? What if Kaede got injured? She was there when Kagome brought them back. Kaede could be in danger.
Kagome saw the distress in her friend's face. “Don't worry Sango. We can bring the demon down. I have you and Miroku. Also, there are my new powers. We can do it,” comforted Kagome. She herself was a little worried. Even though those words cheered her friend a little, it didn't work on herself. She decided to pay a visit to Midoriko. “I'll be right back!” Kagome called out.
Kagome found a safe place to be while she wasn't conscious. She closed her eyes and went to visit her ancestor.
“Hello Midoriko,” Kagome said.
“What brings you here Kagome?” asked Midoriko. She saw an angry red and black aura surrounding Kagome.
“You forgot to mention something the last time I was here. I think it was that a demon would be created when I resurrected my friends” Kagome replied.
Midoriko's eyes widened. How had that slipped her mind? She usually never forgot anything. Why was this any different? Unless, she wasn't supposed to and Kagome could really test her powers. What excuse could she give Kagome?
“Well Kagome, I didn't know. This is rarely done and I have never heard of anything like that before,” lied Midoriko.
Kagome could see right through it. “Midoriko, I know that you're lying, but I'm leaving for now,” Kagome said.
Midoriko was in state of shock. How could Kagome know that she was lying? Kagome turned around and left.
Kagome opened her eyes. Something was up, and she was going to find out what. Soon. For now, she had to destroy the demon before it destroyed her friends.
