The next day when Rin walked downstairs for breakfast, she found her father waiting for her in the kitchen. "Morning." She mumbled as she sat down.
He said the same and sat down across from her. "Morning, Rin. I asked the cook to make you your favorite breakfast but he made chocolate chips pancakes instead, so I fired him."
Rin sat up and gasped, "Daddy, chocolate chip pancakes are my favorite!" Before he could say anything, Rin ran off to go inform the cook that he wasn't fired.
Rin's father sighed and rubbed his temples, feeling terrible. When Rin walked back in he mumbled, "When did they become your favorite?"
Feeling uncomfortable, Rin sat down and said quietly, "They've always been my favorite, daddy."
He sighed again. "I guess I should pay more attention."
The two of them sat in silence before he finally spoke again.
"Rin, we need to talk. About what Sess said to me yesterday. About everything that has been happening."
Rin nodded as she poured herself some orange juice. This was going to be a long morning.

Kagome's cell phone woke her up that morning, and she was shocked to see that it was Inu Yasha, considering he wasn't a morning person. "Morning sweetie."
"Morning baby. Want to go hang out today?" He asked her.
She smiled. "Sure, sounds like fun."
"Okay, I'll pick you up in an hour. I figured we could walk around at that mall near the woman's clinic." He said quickly.
Kagome laughed softly. "Good idea. See you soon."
They hung up and Kagome took a deep breath. They definitely needed to talk, and she definitely needed to get on birth control. One pregnancy scare was enough. She walked downstairs to grab a quick breakfast before she took her shower. Her mother was fine with her going out, so she showered and dressed when she finished eating, waiting for Inu Yasha.

Sess rolled over in his sleep, snoring softly. Hey, he had no reason to get up yet, so why would he?

Sango woke up from her spot on the couch to see Miroku putting his shoes on. "Going somewhere?" She asked as she sat up.
He smiled and walked over to her. "I've got to go make some plans for your surprise romantic week."
Sango smiled at him. "What are you planning? Come on baby, you can tell me." She stuck out her bottom lip and he laughed.
"No way. It's a surprise."
Sango wrapped her arms around his neck and sighed. "Fine." He grinned as she leaned in for a kiss. The kiss was chaste and simple, leaving them both yearning for more, but Miroku stood up. "If you start I'll have to finish. And I don't want to be late."
Sango pouted again but stood up. "Alright alright, leave me here, all alone."
He chuckled and pinched her backside. "I'll call you later."
Sango waved him towards the door. "Off with you."
He laughed and walked outside to his car.

Rin ate her chocolate chip pancakes while she waited for her father to answer her question. When he continued to stay silent, she repeated it. "Why were you and mom divorcing?"
He sighed and looked down. "For the same reasons why you're so unhappy. Because I was never there."
Rin looked down. "Didn't you love her?"
"Of course. Your mother and I loved each other very much, Rin. But we realized that we'd be better off if we weren't married." He looked at his hands clasped in front of him. "If only I had kept my promise to her. If only I had been the one to take the divorce papers down there. It would have been me in the accident, and you'd still have your mother."
Rin's lip quivered. "Don't say that, Daddy."
He looked up at his daughter. "I'm sorry Rin." Take a deep breath he said, "Your mother and I would have stayed very close after the divorce. She would have probably even lived in this house for a while, for you. We just both recognized that as much as we loved each other, we shouldn't have been married. But that does not mean that we never should have gotten married. You are the best thing to happen to us, Rin. But over the years, as I found more ways to expand the business, I became obsessed. Things would have been easier on all three of us if we had been divorced."
Rin nodded. She swallowed thickly and said, "Do you still love her, Daddy?"
"Every day of my life, Rin. I wouldn't trade the time that I had with her for anything in the world." He answered truthfully.
"And don't you want that kind of love for me and Sessy?" She asked boldly.
His eyes widened slightly as he thought about what she said.

Kagome and Inu Yasha walked around the mall in silence, neither looking at any of the stores or paying attention to their surroundings. "I should probably make an appointment at the clinic." She mumbled.
"I, uh… Already did." He answered.
She gave a grateful smile. "Oh, good. When do I go, some time next week?"
He looked at his watch. "More like some time in the next few minutes. We should probably drive over there now so we aren't late."
Kagome's hand tightened on his. "Wha-? Oh, okay."
"What are you so nervous about?" He asked her as they walked out to his car.
She shrugged. "I just don't want someone poking around down there, you know?"
He began laughing at her statement, but quickly stopped when she glared at him. "Sorry, that just wasn't what I was expecting!"
Kagome sighed. She leaned up against his car and said, "Inu Yasha, if I was pregnant, we would have gotten married, right?"
"'Course." He answered, standing in front of her.
She nodded. "Good to know."
He gave her a comforting smile. Placing his hands on her hips he said, "I'll take care of you, Kagome. No matter what."
She smiled and wrapped her arms around him. "I love you, Inu Yasha Go-Shinboku."
He chuckled. "I love you too, Kagome Go- Higurashi!" He finished quickly.
Kagome pulled back and stared at him, excitement twinkling in her eyes. "What?"
He unlocked the car doors and said, "We're going to be late."
She giggled and said, "What did you almost say?"
He got in the car and turned it on, turning the music up loudly. "Come on woman, don't take all day!"
She bit her lip and smiled at her strange boyfriend. Getting in the car she pecked him on the cheek and whispered in his ear, "Some day you'll be able to finish saying what you started to."
He turned his head towards her and kissed her soft lips. She happily kissed him back, excited beyond words. Kagome Go-Shinboku. Mr. And Mrs. Inu Yasha Go-Shinboku. Giggling she pulled back from the kiss. I definitely like the sound of that.

Sango sat around her house watching TV, growing more and more bored by the second. She had already cleaned the house, eaten breakfast, taken a shower, and searched through the TV channels. Finally she picked up the phone and dialed over to Kagome's house. She asked for Kohaku, and when he answered she said, "Hey kiddo, what do you say to going out to lunch with your older sister?"
He grinned. "Cool!"
Smiling into the phone she said, "Okay, I'll be there in ten minutes. Will you be ready?"
"Yup. I'll just tell the Higurashi's bye and I'll be waiting outside."
"Okay, see you in a few minutes."
"Bye!"
~|~|~|~|~|~
Sess poured himself a bowl of cereal and carried it back to his room. He sat on his bed as he watched a Jay And Silent Bob movie. He could definitely get used to this lounging around all day stuff.
~|~|~|~|~|~
Rin watched her father as he thought in silence. Finally he said slowly, "You… love him."
Rin let out the breath she forgot she was holding. "Yes. More than anything."
He nodded slowly. "You don't want to leave him to go with me." He stated matter-of-factly.
Rin felt tears come to her eyes. "I love both of you guys, Daddy! I hate choosing between staying with my fiance or leaving with my daddy! It's not fair!"
He nodded again. "And I'm sorry I tried to make you choose." Taking her hands in his own he said, "I'm sorry for not being a good father to you, Rin. I'm never there, and when I am I make you miserable." Rin opened her mouth to object but he said, "Let me finish." Taking a deep breath he said, "I never understood the connection between you and Sess because I never wanted to face the fact that my little girl, the only thing left of your mother, was growing up, and that one day you would have a life of your own. But now I see it. I can't deny the love between you two anymore." He stood up and walked around the table to his daughter. Getting down on his knees he said, "Rin, I would be honored if you would allow me to walk you down the aisle and give you away to Sess at your wedding."
Rin burst into tears and threw her arms around her father's neck. "Thank you so much, Daddy!"
He smiled and held his daughter in his arms. "I want to try to be a better father to you, Rin. I really do."
Rin sniffled loudly and muttered, "I love you Daddy. Thank you."
He closed his eyes and said, "I love you too, Rin."

A while later, Kagome walked out of the clinic room she was in and met Inu Yasha in the waiting area. They walked out to the car, neither saying anything till they were inside his car. "So, uh, you got it?" He finally asked. Kagome nodded and help up the tiny baggy. He nodded too and started his car. "Want to go see a move or something?" He asked as he pulled out of the parking lot.
She smiled. "Sure. I heard `Hidalgo' was really good, want to see that?"
He agreed and the two of them drove down to the cinema.

Sango drove herself and Kohaku down to an outdoor burger restaurant. The two of them ordered their drinks and sat in silence while they waited. When their drinks arrived they ordered their food, at which point Kohaku finally spoke up when the waitress walked away.
"Do you love Miroku?"
Sango raised her eyebrows at her brother. "Why?"
He shrugged and looked down at his Sprite. "Just wondering. It looks like you two love each other."
"Would you be mad if I said yes?" She asked attentively as she watched his face.
He thought for a second before answering. "No. I like Miroku. Since Dad isn't here to tell you if Miroku's a good guy or not, I guess it's up to me, right?"
Sango grinned. "Right."
"Then I like him. So, you love him?"
"Yes. I do." Sango replied, smiling.
They sat in silence again before Kohaku began singing softly, "Sango and Miroku, sittin' in a tree…"
~|~|~|~|~|~
Rin wiped the tears from her eyes as she smiled at her father. He sat down next to her and said, "I suppose, I owe an apology to Sess. And I ought to thank him for telling me what I failed to see."
Rin cocked her head to the side. "Should I call him?"
He nodded. "Sure. Invite him over."
Rin grinned and quickly pulled out her cell phone. She asked Sess to come over as soon as possible and hung up without an explanation.
Her father gave her a wary look. "Don't you think, after what you've told me, that Sess will come running over as soon as he's gotten that phone call thinking something is wrong?"
Rin's smile fell slightly. "…Oops."
~|~|~|~|~|~
Sess quickly threw a pair of pants on over his boxers and grabbed his car keys. Running through the house he slammed his feet into a pair of shoes and then ran out of the house. He backed his car out of the garage and sped down the road. In five minutes flat he was at Rin's house, frantically knocking on the locked door. Rin threw the door open a few seconds later and threw her arms around his neck.
"Rin, what's going on?" He asked her quickly.
"I love you so much, Sessy." She mumbled against his neck.
"I love you too." He replied. "What happened?"
She giggled and pulled back. Tugging him into the kitchen they found her father sitting at the table. He stood up and walked over to Sess.
"I wanted to tell you thank you, Sess. Your confrontation yesterday helped me realize what kind of father I was." Sticking out his hand he said, "I know that you'll take good care of my daughter."
Sess shook the man's hand and gave a small smile. "Of course I will, sir."
Rin giggled between the two of them and said, "Oh! Sessy and me and Sakura and Mr. Go and you, Daddy, should all go out to eat for dinner tomorrow! Then we can begin wedding plans!"
Sess smiled at his fiance but Mr. Tenseiga began saying, "Well I've got a meeting to go to…" He trailed off at the look on his daughters face. "You know what, they can handle the meeting without me."
Rin grinned and twirled in a circle.

That night, the six teens were all at their own houses. Sango had been trying to reach Miroku ever since she dropped Kohaku back off at the Higurashi's house. He finally answered his phone and she said exasperatedly, "What took you so long?!"
He chuckled. "Do I need to explain to you what `surprise' means?"
She rolled her eyes. "Shut it. Is there a reason why you've been avoiding me all day, or is this still part of your surprise?"
He chuckled again. "I've been doing lots of planning today."
She sighed. "Yeah fine, whatever."
He laughed. "I'll see you at school tomorrow, babe."
"Yeah okay. I love you."
"I love you too."
They hung up their phones and Miroku quickly called each one of their four friends to ask each of them a favor.

The next morning when Sango drove to school, she found Kagome and Rin waiting at Rin's jeep when she arrived at the school. She walked over to them and said, "Where'd the men folk go?"
Rin giggled. "Who knows, I think they're having another debate about which action figure woman is hotter."
Sango laughed and the three of them walked up to the school. They walked over to Sango's locker so she could get her first period books, and Sango gasped when she opened her locker. Inside she found a single red rose hanging from the upper shelf. She grinned and bit her lip as she carefully detached it from the string. A tiny note was attached to the stem, reading, "More to come."
Sango turned to look at her friends, who were both trying to hide their grins. "Do you two know anything about this?" She asked them.
"Nope, not a thing!" Rin said quickly. Kagome quickly shook her head, trying to cover her grin.
Sango rolled her eyes at her friends. "Right. Whatever." She smelled the rose as she closed her locker. The bell rang, signaling to get to class, so the friends waved goodbye to each other and walked to their classes. Sango absently walked into the classroom, completely oblivious to the way the students were watching her curiously. When she got to her desk she stopped and smiled. On her desk lay another rose, this time pink. She smiled again and picked it up. This one had no note attached to it, but she knew that this one, like the last, was from Miroku. Placing it with the other rose she sat down, holding the two of them happily.
When the bell rang at the end of class, she stood up and quickly walked out, looking around for Miroku. He usually found her between classes for a quick kiss, but she couldn't spot him anywhere. Sighing, she walked to her next class, which she had with Sess. Spotting him in the back on the room, she walked over to him and was about to sit down when she saw another rose on her seat, this time white. Picking it up she smiled and whispered to Sess, "Know anything about this?"
He didn't even glance at her as he said, "Nope, I don't know anything."
She laughed and sat down. Leaning closer she whispered, "Come on Sess, what's Miroku planning?"
He smirked. "Sorry Sango, but I'm not telling. Miroku's put a helluva lot of planning into this, and I don't want to ruin it."
Sango pouted for a second before asking, "And did Rin threaten to make you were lingerie if you told me?"
He shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "That too."
She laughed and set the flowers down in front of her. "Fine. I won't ask."
He said nothing, but grinned. Sango may not be the most girly girl he knew, but any girl would turn into a puddle of goo at what Miroku was doing. Suddenly he frowned. Shit, he better not make me look like a bad fiance in front of Rin!
~|~|~|~|~|~
When lunch time rolled around, Rin and Kagome saw Sango walk into the lunch room and over to them holding no less than half a dozen roses of all varying colors. She gave a nervous smile as she sat down.
Kagome grinned. "Sango, why don't you put those in your locker?"
Sango rolled her eyes. "As if you didn't know, the last rose had a note that said to keep them with me." She grinned as Rin began giggling. Looking around, Sango asked, "Has anyone seen Miroku? I haven't seen him all day."
He's eating lunch in the library. He's got something he needs to finish." Inu Yasha answered as he sat down next to Kagome. She smiled at him, but frowned when he stole one of her French fries. He grinned and kissed her softly.
Sango sighed. "Maybe I'll go find him, just to say hi." She said as she began standing up. But Rin and Kagome quickly grabbed hold of her wrist. "Uh, he's probably real busy or something." Kagome said.
Sango sighed. "I just want to go say hi!"
Rin shook her head, but before she could answer, Miroku walked over to Sango and wrapped his arms around her from behind. He kissed the side of her head and said, "Like the flowers?"
Sango grinned and scooted over on the bench to give him some sitting room. "They're beautiful."
Miroku sat down next to her facing the opposite way and rested his chin on her shoulder, so he had one arm wrapped around her stomach, and he was whispering in her ear. "I can't wait till tonight."
"What's going to happen tonight?" She asked him quietly.
He chuckled. Nipping at her ear softly he murmured, "You'll see."
She sighed and turned her head to kiss his cheek. He smiled and got up. "Well, I've got some more things to finish, I just wanted to say hey." They all waved and he walked away. leaving a slightly shocked Sango.
"What's up, Sango?" Kagome asked.
"The bastard didn't kiss me!"
Her four friends laughed.
~|~|~|~|~|~
When Sango walked out to her car, she carefully held the dozen roses that Miroku placed all around the school for her. She hurried to her car and placed them in the backseat, but look curiously at something that was stuck to her windshield. Picking it up, she saw that it was a map, telling her where to go.
She grinned and got in her car. She looked over the map and noticed that it was to a park a few miles away, but she had never been there. Sango was smiling as she drove down to the park, excited about whatever Miroku had planned.
When she got to the park, she was shocked to see how many cherry blossoms were there. It was absolutely beautiful, with their soft pink against the green and brown. But something caught her eye, causing her to get out of her car and go investigate. Up close, she saw that it was a bunch of purple petals of flowers. A trail, leading through the trees. Sango grinned and began following the trail, slowly walking through the beautiful trees. As she suddenly rounded another set of trees, she gasped at what she saw. Miroku was standing a few feet away from her. And behind him he had set up a table set for two, including candles, silver platters… the whole nine yards.
Walking over to him she smiled softly. "This is beautiful." She mumbled quietly.
He grinned and took one of her hands, leading her to one of the chairs. He held it out for her, allowing her to sit down. When she was seated, he sat across from her and said, "Surprise number one."
Sango giggled and said, "This is amazing, Miroku."
He chuckled and uncovered the platter in the middle of the table, revealing their meal. The food even looked too beautiful to eat, adorned with cilantro. He uncorked a bottle kept in a wine chiller and she cast a wary look at the bottle. But Miroku smiled and said, "Sparkling cider." She gave a relieved sigh and allowed him to pour her glass.
Miroku did everything absolutely perfectly. Everything went according to plan, and Sango was greatly enjoying herself. Dinner and dessert was delicious, and when they finished Miroku stood up and held out his hand to her. She smiled and stood up as well, taking his hand in her own. The two of them walked through the trees, the pink and whites petals floating all around them.
When they finally tired of walking, Miroku turned to face Sango. He pulled her into his arms and placed the gentlest kiss on her lips that she had ever experienced. When he pulled back, the look on her face nearly caused him to groan. Her half closed eyes and partially opened lips nearly stopped his heart and Miroku, unable to resist, placed his lips back upon hers, kissing her softly again. Sango responded to the kiss just as gently, wondering how such a chaste kiss could make her want him so much. Miroku was wondering the same thing, but he pulled back before he got carried away.
"So, you enjoyed this?" He breathed against her lips.
She nodded and smiled. "You never cease to amaze me, Miroku."
He smiled and kissed her nose. Taking her hand, he lead her back to her car so he could take care of everything left over from the first surprise, and begin preparing for the second surprise.
